so, no OLED then… cool story, bruh

      • -1

Yes, its not OlEd but neo qled 8k model. Not sure why few folks did negative voting on my previous comment. I was just sharing the info with good intention, incase any fellow ozbargain friend wants to buy similar tv and soundbar from jbhifi :-)

        • +12

          I bought a 51cm CRT in the late 90s for $1099

          • @onlinepred: Bow bow Beautiful …chick… chicka chicka

        • It's the ozbargain way.

    • +11

      Enjoy your greyblacks, bro.

      • they're playing eden park next week

        • +3

If you're watching the game at toyapple9's place, it'll be the All Greys.

      • Ironically, due to the Samsung QD-OLED's not having a polariser, in anything other than a very dim room this will look more grey than a QN800B

  • +3

Since when did samsung do OLED?

    • +5

      This is their first model

      • Not quite true. Samsung started doing OLED TVs back in 2012 or so to begin with, but yes this is their first QD-OLED TV.

        • Nah but they’ve been making OLED screens for other types of display devices (phones, tablets) since ages ago. Definitely Samsungs first OLED, well, QD OLED.

          • @sickaunt: Sort of, Samsung were making OLED TVs along with the others in the early OLED days, they just stopped as did everyone except LG because the process was too hit and miss. They just kept making the small screen AMOLEDs.

      • Then it should be priced lower.

        • that makes no sense, companies recoup their R&D through higher price in the first few generations of tech, they all do it

        • It's already competitively priced. Price-wise, it slots in between LG C2 and G2, with arguably better performance than the latter.

  • samsung using OLED 😳

  • +1

Samsung: Hai. Sorry I'm late. I took a wrong turn down pride street.

    • +2

Things turned a bit gay did they?

      • +3

        $20 is $20

  • +1

Dang, if 65" would have snapped up.

    • +4

      65" + soundbar B650 with 15% off - $30 = $3,704.90 + $500 cash back from Samsung.

      • $3209.90 isn't bad considering you get the soundbar too for that price. Hmmmmmmm I do need to upgrade…but I could honestly wait till Black Friday or later sales as my 42" FHD LCD tv is still going ok.

        • Black Friday or later sales as my 42" FHD LCD tv is still going ok.

Same my 60" Samsung FHD still OK, if I upgrade I will have to go for 75"

      • You get a $200 JB gift card too. I am tempted…

  • If I was going to spend this much on QD-OLED TV then it'd have to the Sony A95k its the best QD-OLED albeit more expensive. Samsung's over exaggerated colours might be too much for some.

    • +7

      Yeah but $3204 for 65" + a soundbar vs $5495 for the 65" A95K, pretty big gap.

    • +1

Its the ads that turns me off Samsung

  • +1

how are Samsung's Oled VS C2?

    • +3

This is QD OLED not the same as traditional OLED.

      https://www.displayninja.com/oled-vs-qd-oled/

    • +1

Samsung QD OLED ever so slightly better. Probably not worth a big price difference IMO

      • and brighter and less burn in issue.

        • so better then c2….but bit more expansive

        • Yea the G2 is as bright as the S95, but not the C2. Going from LCD to OLED proves to be huge differences, but OLED to QD OLED is significantly smaller gains, so have to look at the prices hey.

          • @onlinepred: G2 and A95K also have more consistent brightness levels, since they have a heatsink on the panel to reduce the heat that ABL comes in to protect from. Main benefit of QD-OLED is better colour saturation at high brightness since there aren't the white pixels required for high brightness

        • How come samsung has less burn in risk?

          • +2

@hippyhippy: they only have blue OLEDs on the panel, they have a quantum dot later with colour filters over that to turn the blue pixels into RGB. WOLED is less longlisting since the R,G & B pixels have different lifespans, so by moving to all B pixels it's more consistent in degradation over time. Will still happen but be more uniform and thus less noticeable

  • Samsung Promo is a scam, they will reject your valid claim, be really careful.

    • +1

      Samsung Promo is a scam

Example? Never claim TV promo, so far no issue with SSDs promo.

      • They said the seller is not part of the promotion, but their website and terms and conditions clearly stated that they should there is no date showing on the receipt (JBHiFi), but clearly, it shows at the bottom of the receipt for JBHiFi, they're very careless and make you chase your claim up, right up to the disclaimer period..very bad…

        • +2

          ACCC

    • +1

Actually, Samsung paid my $350 cashback claim a couple of weeks ago when I bought QN85B TV + Q800B sound bar as part of their promotion.

  • +6

I love Samsung but I’d go for a Sony with a Samsung panel just to get Dolby vision. What’s the point of paying for the best panel if you’re stuck with hdr10

    • +2

Exactly. Samsung can keep their OLEDs until they add Dolby Vision.

Although, it will have HDR10+ not that there's a whole lot of content using it.

      • Samsung can keep their OLEDs until they add Dolby Vision.

Yeah, don't understand that, Dolby Vision really that expensive to license?

        • It's called paying for quality - not the oZb way but the cinephile way for sure

        • Executive ego more than anything else I suspect.

  • -1

So after cashback it’s $2504.90? Asking cos the post title is a bit of a mess.

    • +1

cos the post title is a bit of a mess.

      Which part?

      Samsung S95 55" OLED 4K Smart TV + B Series B650 Soundbar $2,854.90 + Delivery ($0 C&C) & Get $350 Samsung Cashback

    • sure they could say $2504.90 after cashback, but it doesn't change the fact that you still pay $2854.90 upfront. I think it's much clearer adding the extra information for people

  • Anyone with a s95 care to comment if the OS/remote is as bad as people say it is? Trying to toss up between this and the LG models.

    • I'm more worried about the non-polarization layer. I live in a unit so don't have a dedicated media room so worried a little about the purple blacks affect if there's any light in the room.

      • Same situation for me. Haven't figured out the lighting in my home reno yet but going to get some blackout blinds so I can have some level of control. Figured thats more for movie watching than just day to days sports, regular TV.

  • There seems to be a $200 JB gift voucher for purchasing as well. It's on the page with the TV but I can't read the t&c.

    • Yeah, I don't think it was there before.

    • Can confirm there is a $200 GC. But can't be used right away.

  • +2

Good deal. 65" + sound bar for $3,704.90 (15% + $30 off) + $500 Samsung cashback + $200 JB gift card = $3000ish for both. Not bad for a $4500 RRP TV, and you can maybe flip the soundbar.

  • Harvey Norman has the same deal but is offering $500 GC! Will JB match the GC offer?

  • So based on TnC from Samsung website, for processing the cashback, they need photos of Serial Nos on the products themselves.
This means, for those who were planning to sell the soundbar (including myself), will need to unbox it to take a photo.

    • +1

planning to sell the soundbar (including myself), will need to unbox it to take a photo.

Yeah, same with their SSD promo.

  • Has anyone had any experience with split orders from JB?

just got my delivery notice and looks like they are only sending the sound bar and not the tv and wondering if they are going to end up giving me two separate invoices which will affect the cash back.

Also afraid the TV might be delayed until after the 3rd and not sure if the invoice will have the purchase or delivery date.

    • They should be able to electronically send you the tax invoice.
