The Phantom Gaming model has been this price at certain places recently (eg Skycomp), I'd hold out for that model (or just grab a better model second hand, I've picked an Aorus and Strix 6700 XT for $450 each in recent months).

    • $450 for a 6700XT? Ebay with discounts?

      • +2

one was on OCAU, other was ebay and no discount, just what the auction ended up at.

ASUS 6700XT was going for $533 not long ago.

ASRock really wins the award for making the ugliest graphics cards.. they also Blacklisted hardware unboxed when given negative reviews.. scumy company.. Nvidia did this too but changed their minds when Linus Tech tips along with all of the other tech press called them out on it. Lots of bad press

      • +16

They replied to that as well

It pretty much shows bad faith on Asrocks part that they don't want to play ball with reviewers who ask them questions they don't like. Hardware unboxed then buying the motherboards and STILL reviewing them was said to be the push to their blacklisting. Pretty much evident in this reply.

That being said as a budget company they do okay components.

@nikoris: A bit ironic you complaining about spreading false information then start slandering the very next comment

          • +11

@nikoris: If there's a player in the space that it is basically impossible to call shady, it's Hardware Unboxed.

They risked being blacklisted by Nvidia for not towing the line. They called out AMD when they decided not to support Ryzen 5000 on B450 boards. They call out plenty of hardware manufacturers while spending their own money on gear to review it.

Spreading garbage like this shows you either have an axe to grind or you're completely ignorant.

@nikoris: nikoris sound shady af to me, could just be another case of 'they didnt pay me so im badmouthing them'

          • +1

@nikoris: Hardware unboxed are great and one of the most unbiased outfits in tech media.
I agree though, that their channel name doesn't really sing professional which is a shame, because they certainly are.

            • @sharky_k: Hardware unboxed.. The channel started off unboxing boxes

The price of buying a motherboard isn’t a big deal for someone like hardware unboxed. The much bigger downside of not receiving a review sample is having to wait until they’re available to purchase at retailers

      • Lol. BUT they are blacklisted????.. whats not true about that?????? I dont understand ..

    • +1

Got that deal and thanks again to the poster.

Waited a long time for that final piece of a build with my young son to be a reasonable price.

  • +3

this is tempting but I don't think going from my 6600 XT to the 6700 XT is going to be much of an upgrade lol.

    • +3

      Smart choice.
7000 series is said to be looking interesting, with the shift to a chipper design. So maybe waiting for the next Gen is a better option if you can stand to wait.
Or maybe just decide if your current gpu does everything you want for now?

    • It's about 20-22% faster according to Tom's hardware.

  • +6

Man I wish some manufacturer would just make a nice clean card without all the ugly graphics and slashes on the housing.

  • +5

This card has been at this price for months.

  • Lack of DLSS, RTX, CUDA and etc really hurts

AMD has lowered US MSRPs across the board, wonder if it'll trickle down to aussie stock soon

    • +1

That announcement was referring to AMD prices already having dropped (e.g. what we have been seeing for the last 4 months), not a new annoucement of further price drops.

Poor AUD-USD would drive up the local MSRP of the new gen cards, so the floor for last gen cards would probably increase.
