Hacktoberfest is back again. Contribute to open source software - Score a free T-shirt or a planted tree by making four pull requests on GitHub or GitLab between October 1-31.

This year they are encouraging non-code contributions eg. translating, social media, graphic design.

    Optus does not like Hacktober

    How do you actually activate a pull request?

    • By doing a pull request from your fork back to upstream.

    Plot twist - event is run by Optus.

    So really, we would all get T-shirts without even really trying.

  • Can understand why they are widening the criteria this year, as I recall last time this ran, it resulted in lots of low-quality PRs that maintainers of open-source projects had to sift through.

  • i made over 4 pull requests and it still says my progress is 0/4.
    Has anyone had any luck with this?
