Exetel Wants to Charge Me $270++ if I Didn't Have an Active Phone Line before Switching It to Them?

Exetel wants to charge me $270++ if I didn't have an active phone line before switching it to them.

I tried to sign up to exetel to get a free upgrade FTTP and there's a question: do you have an active phone line?

If you click no, you need to pay $270++ for the installation.

I am currently using VDSL (internet thru the phone line), so I am guessing that I have an active phone line?

Also, when I ordered Exetel nbn bundle, I requested a phone number PAYG too.

How can they "upgrade" you to FTTP if you don't have any NBN at all to upgrade from?

  • Back off Exetel and try some other provider and see how you go.
It will give you a comparison.

That $270 is charged by Telstra? if I remember correctly, it's the same fee at any other provider if you don't have an active line.

You have internet currently, so you have an active phone line.

    • You are right SBOB. Exetel should change this checkbox to make it clearer; although maybe it's a good indication to customers about the level of service to prepare for.

  • Call sales on 13 39 38.

If you have an active FTTN service, you can churn to Exetel for free. If you are eligible for the FTTN -> FTTP "Flip to Fibre", this will be provided for free as well.

  • Thanks guys!
