More than $12 postage kinda kills the deal for us interstate folk! Surely it should be no more than $1!

  • Good find. Now just a Class 6 for Aus-wide delivered.

  • +4

    Damn - I read "4 for $15" :(

    • +3

      Changed 'for' to '-'

  • Good price. I'd snap one up quickly if the shipping cost was cheap… been looking for a cheap 32GB Micro SDHC for my phone.

    • I'd love to get one for my tablet but the shipping is pure madness. I think when I got my 16GB card from memory city, it was in a regular envelope with a 60c stamp on it.

      • I smiled when I saw that envelope. I was like, hey a company that thinks logically.

      • -3

Thank you I will now know to avoid buying from them. Normal envelopes get treated like absolute crap and if I received my memory card in one I would request a refund due to woefully inadequate protection.

        • +2

rolls eyes good grief, it's only a problem if the product is damaged

        • It was also it its little protective plastic box, not just thrown in the envelope. I'm sure memory city would happily replace any card that arrived damaged.

        • +2

I'll raise your rolled eyes with a subtle shake of my head and a simultaneous facepalm.

    • I got a 32 gb class 10 samsung micro sd for 32$ including shipping…the sellers rating was 98% i took a gamble but it paid off. So cheap. Although i havnt tested the speed…

      • "in this form factor" 1$/gb would be a con if 2x faster record speed.
USB 3.0-drive, by comparison, would sustain 30MB/sec@=$0.6/gb.

  • +3

below the 50c per gig for 32gig or greater microsd.
    nice

  • imo, the rep should read this and change the postage fee, it is $1.20 stamp and padded bag for $0.50, thats supposed to be shipping fee

  • HAHAHAHA!!!! Perth gets revenge on the rest of Australia!

Small print - Melbournian living incognito as a Sydneysider……

  • Dammit… Just bought a 16GB Class 6 for $10. Should've waited it out! :P

    • +2

Yeah, but it's class 6 instead of class 4. I'm happy with the Memory City one I have.

      • Touche. Thought the same too. Ah well, Memory City one will be fine until I fill up the 16GB card.

    • Hmm, what are the main differences between the class 4s and 6s? I'm planning on getting an SD card as well, had no idea of the differences though.

Edit: Haha never mind - I googled it. "Class 4 offers transfer speeds up to 4mb/s and class 6 offers about 20mb/s"

    • Speed Class Rating
The SD Association defines standard speed classes indicating minimum performance to record video. These are defined in terms of suitability for different applications:

Class 2 for SD video recording
Class 4 and 6 for HD ~ Full HD video recording,
Class 10 for Full HD video recording and HD still consecutive recording
UHS Speed Class 1 for real-time broadcasts and large-size HD videos

The specification defines these classes in terms of performance curves which translate into the following minimum performance levels (on an empty card):

      Class Minimum performance
       Class 2 2 MB/sec
       Class 4 4 MB/sec
       Class 6 6 MB/sec
       Class 10 10 MB/sec

      • Wow, awesome! Thanks =)

  • Silicon power? Is the quality good compared to sandisk?

    • +4

I'm not sure, but they harness the power of silicon.

      • Comedian. Is it a better deal than the $19 delivered 32gb class 10 from Groupon? If they both are from not well know or unknown manufacturer.

        • I bought one of the Silicon Power 32GB USB drives from PLE, seems to work okay so far.

        • It's a gamble either way with an unknown manufacturer, but class 10 is way faster than class 4.

  • +1

damn it! if only it was branded something like Sandisk we could at least try pricematching at HN/JB/OW etc unless someone knows who else sells Silicon power and does pricematching…

  • +1

anyone who buys them run em through h2testw to see if you get the advertised speeds and if they are genuine (you will get no errors if they are). ive spent way too much money on branded and other nonbranded fakes and only stick to sandisks sold from form memorycity or shoppingexpress..

no i dont work for either of em, just know they sell genuine stuff.

for the sake of saving a few dollars remember you pay what you get.

  • Anyone else notice that the picture of the microSD on the site says class 10 ?

  • The picture is for illustration purpose the actual product my vary?

  • delete

  • For those in the thread wondering about about Silicon Power as a brand quality-wise, I do know that at least some of their cards are directly rebadged Sandisks (their 32GB class 6 micro is definitely the Sandisk Ultramobile). I'd lay odds that this is a Sandisk class 4 and hence a great deal at this price.

    • Wow, that is really a good deal! Might consider driving down there to buy one tomorrow

    • It would mean driving across the country, for many; Although:- I am -keen- on SanDisk/'Class 4' performance. Queue:

      • Who will be first to submit card to a movie-backup >> report on how many 'seconds'??

The frustrating thing about 5.99 / - 4.00 MB/sec, is that 'extra 1.99 MB' you should have for Full-HD record video. ..But of course no_Guarantee without that step up into 'class 6 perf.' unfortunately.

    • Ah. Seems I've found a link handy relating to tested speeds.

So from what one can gather, 32GB size @Class 6 still appear the less common card. But a relief to observe, Class 4, perhaps with one exception or two, should be okay to record 6 MB/sec-High Definition video.

Clearly, you are getting not more than 2x the performance in upgrading Class 4 to Class 10(Write): a few MB/sec difference means small beer, so likely not worth the premium being asked.

The Random 4k R/W results look equally interesting. Seeing ~ 3 MB/s and ~ 1.7 MB/s respectively, and confirming no substantive difference across those classes: 2-4-6-10. Possibly of lower quality however, AData +Samsung +Lexar card, show cause for concern as exceptions worth checking.
