How do people find these? Tempted to move away from my soundpeats air 3 for a bit more comfort.

    • +6

I love mine as they sort of more sit on the ear rather than having tips that go right in your ear, which is great for me as I get ear pain in one of my ears when using in ears for too long. They also allow more background noise in which is a good thing for me when working or when in public where you want to be aware of your surroundings. They have ANC too which helps a bit.

Sound quality is decent especially for this money and battery life has been fantastic in my use.

      • Cool thanks for the info! Do they connect to multiple devices or do you need to pair with a new device each time?

        • +1

One device at a time, but pop up on screen between Samsung devices like Apple, streamlining the process plus you can have widgets on screen. There great at this price, only annoyance is the touch going off when adjusting them in ear periodically, so much so I've turned the touch off on mine.

    • I personally hate these doesn’t fit me and have to put the music on really high to hear properly

Don’t think I have hearing problems just the fit is not great
Also such a pain to put them in the case in the dark and when your sleepy

    • For me, they fit well and I have no issues. I wish they worked with multiple devices. I have Airpods Pro for use between the few Apple devices I use.

You already have a similar style of earphones, so you're probably aware of where you can use them.

They're good for environments where noise isolation or ANC isn't wanted or required. I find the ANC does make a enough of difference on trains to use it. They're great in that sort of environment anyway.

    • +2

They are probably fine if you have normal or large ears but be warned if you have small ears. They are painful for me to wear and occasionally pop out randomly.

    • I got a pair as freebies with my Z Flip 3 about twelve months ago. I wasn't expecting much from them. Turns out that - for my ear shape and hearing - they were superb! I'd go as far as to say that they were the most comfortable in-ear buds I've ever used. And they sounded pretty damn good (scientific term) for music, podcasts and calls. Also the most secure-feeling buds I've ever worn for cycling and gym use.

      How do people find these?

And that's why everything above was phrased in the past tense. 😉 I lost one of them and couldn't find it. Heading into a café, I'd put them loose into one of my pockets and, by the time I got home, I'd let one of them fall out somewhere. I retraced my steps back to the "last seen" location in the Galaxy Wearable App but I was unsuccessful finding it.

    • +1

I love them as they don't go in your ear canal. Just kinda sit nicely in the outer ear so you don't get that blocked ear feeling.

The Buds Live were praised for their design, but criticised for the ineffective active noise cancellation
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Buds_series#Mod…

First generation of ANC in samsung buds

    • Nope. It's ANC in an earbud, versus an IEM, so it's an open enclosure by design.

The ANC does something, but there's sound leaking in from everywhere, so it's not going to cancel as much noise as an IEM or a closed back headphone.

      • +3

I normally get negged for saying this but for me the ANC is actually very decent. The technology itself is good, the seal just isn't for most people. For me it significantly reduces the noise on trains and planes like rumble and resonance. I discovered it actually makes it really easy to have a conversation on planes because it cuts out so much of the low end but voices come through normally.

Be aware that Samsung might not honor any warranty if these are not the local version. I purchased some Buds from a third party seller on Amazon last year and could not register them for warranty.

    • It's covered by Mydeal's 12 month warranty.

  • +1

I've been using these for 2 years and they're great! Accidentally put mine through the washing machine, and the ANC no longer works, but they're still going strong. Tempted to pick up a second pair at this price.

  • +1

Really good price for these, but the ANC is practically non existent.

  • -3

They can cause ear infections if you're sensitive.

    • +3

Not this model. You're thinking of the Buds Pro.

    • +3

That is pretty much every other type of in ear headphone that you drill into your ear, not these ones.

      • -2

I'm speaking from personal experience. Happened quite a few times. Changed to wf-1000xm4, infections completely resolved.

        • +3

Doesn't really make any sense as these don't go in your ear canal at all. They sit in the outer ear.

  • How are these for voice calls?

    Can anyone recommend something?
I've tried Lenovo buds ($20) and some bluedio Hi and they are both junk. Low volume and otherside can't barely hear me. Using android.

    • +1

I had good success using the Spundpeats True engine 2 for voice. $50 or so off Amazon.

      • Thank you.

Does this sound right? Can't find a true engine 2:

        SOUNDPEATS TrueAir2 Wireless Earbuds
Reviews seem great. Will order for same day delivery!

        • +1

Pretty sure they are selling trueengine3 now.

Edit: yup TrueEngine3 are $75. I clearly got them on sale.

      • Received my airpro 3 today, very happy!! Thanks for the suggestion

  • +2

Have these and love them, very comfortable for me.

I thought they were quiet also, but discovered you just have to use the touch control to turn up the volume on the buds, rather than using the phone to control the volume, now they're more than loud enough.

  • These or the new Bud Pro 2?
Mainly be using them inside a Motorcycle helmet while commuting to work.

  • +2

Bought an A73 in India and they had offer for buds live for ~9AUD. Got them and very happy with the purchase.

  • -1

Decent bass? Ive returned 2 pairs for rubbish bass, 1) sennheiser cx plus and 2) LG true tone FP9A, both expensive and returned immediately for useless bass which both stated had amazing bass. CRAPPPP

    • Bass isn't great on these, but that's more down to the style of earphones. You'd want something that isolates.

  • how many devices can be connected with this?

  • Thanks for the post. Would buy more of these if I could for backups now that I've lost one earbud on mine. No other model out there is not 'in-ear' like these and they still produce good sound for how light and out-ear they are.

    • Yep they are my backups for airpods gen 3. The galaxy buds definitely fit better.

    • I went from these to the Sony LinkBuds and actually prefer the linkbuds. They're semi in-ear, but they are open backed and don't feel like you have headphones in either.

  • I used to use mine as sleep earphones, does lack bass. only inner ears I can wear for extended periods. Lost one shopping as they fall out easly and I keep the case with the one remaining earbud as a reminder not to buy samsung earbuds again.

    • +3

They were comfortable, worked well, but you will never buy the brand again? Strange

  • Regarding the Truengine 3, what is the anc like please?

  • Had these for a while, the ANC is near non-existent, so don't get them for anything ANC related. The bass is pretty good, and they're a comfortable alternative to in-ear earphones if that kind of seal makes you uncomfortable. Adjusting them in your ear is a nightmare if they're not paired with a device that can use the Samsung app in order to block touches though, super annoying that the block touches setting doesn't stay on the device

  • +1

    OOS!

  • Why that weird shape, are they even ergonomically decent?

    • +2

These don't go in your ear canal like almost all other earbuds, these sit in the outer ear. Some people, myself included, cannot use in-ear earbuds due to the blocked ear feeling, so these are fantastic.

      • +2

Not just that, U can sleep with them. I always use only 1 on the opposite side of sleeping, & you cannot knock that out as easy as other types.
The noise cancelation/mic is not that great, but the comfort is the main advantage.

    • +1

If U look for ergonomics just look opposite of Apple- they always sell the sizzle, not the needs of the users.
Most convenient for comfort. Not that great for noise cancelation/mic. U don't look like U have Oral-B brush in your ears, they are not intrusive :)

  • +2

I was skeptical about how these would fit in my ears but was very pleasantly surprised. They slot in and sit outside like the good old ear buds of yore. These do not do into your ear canal like most modern passive isolating earphones, which is fine for exercising outdoors as you can still hear what is going on around you. They are pretty stable as well and won't fall out when jumping around.

They also have the added bonus of sitting very flush with my ear allowing me to lie down on a pillow without having to position my head weirdly. Battery life is good, sound is decent.

I would rate them as a very decent lifestyle earphone option.
