jeezus, who cares?? is it a bargain or not? It is probably all a lot of people want in a phone. Take the apple fanboy-ism to a forum or something

    • +6

Your comment doesn't really specify why you believe the phone is crap… please enlighten us I'm sure it would be better than the original iphone - which is probably still worth about as much as this… Apple don't want to compete in this low market segment, yet they are still selling the 3gs as a "new" product… - I'm not an android fanboy, i just don't think your comment is well researched

ur user ID describes ur character perfectly with an attitude like that! not everyone can afford an expensive phone.

Talk about a zealot. Has a problem with products other people choose to buy…probably sits outside the homes of pensioners punching them to the side walk because they use a non-touch screen Nokia and lets them know how crap their phone is compared to his iPhone while he stamps on it.

Ignoring PainToad's iCult onanistic outburst for a sec… this phone is quite a bit worser than the "LG Optimus Spirit" that were on sale from Coles a couple of weeks ago ($49 locked to Telstra until you spent $2.21 to unlock). Same broad spec, but the Nokia has less RAM.

I'm not negging the deal though, mostly coz you can't get the LGs anymore. Well, that and the fact that I'm the best bloke on the internet and folks should line up to bask in the warm glow of my gentle decency. Or not, as the case may be.

As for PainToad: so you paid way more for your iGizmo than it's worth, and you're finding that the hipster-chic effect wore off once every orange-tinted slattern in stripper-heels got one. [Mod: removed personal attack]

(Disclosure: we bought an iPad 2 two weeks ago, and it's pretty good. Not 4x as good as the MSI Windpad, but then we didn't pay 4x the price either. MWUAHAHAHA… ahem… and srsly, iCulters: the AppStore is totally a ripoff compared to Google Play).

Look, I've just gotta +1 for using the word 'onanistic'!

I see you got a Guy Fawkes mask as your display picture. You must be so anti-conformist and in no way a typical first year uni student with idealistic socialist mentality that hates all things and companies that are popular/expensive.

"hipster-chic effect wore off once every orange-tinted slattern in stripper-heels got one"
Personally I'm not so insecure that I have to spend my whole time trying to be different than the "masses". If I like something, I buy it.

      "srsly"
      ……hmmm.

"AppStore is totally a ripoff compared to Google Play"
Ummm I've used Google Play quite a bit, prices are very comparable. The quality of Apps Android script kids sell on Play on the other hand are not.

        I'm so non-conformist that I conform.

        I know, right? Mind… blown.

Yeah… first year Uni. You got me pegged, cult-boi. My straight firsts (in MEc, way back in 1996) are all shooped, and the years I spent at an economic modelling think-tank (that Bob Hawke and John Halfpenny said should be destroyed)… also clear evidence of socialist tendencies (so long as you're using an iBrain to do your analysis).

Srsly though… an iCulter assessing another's conformity? I mean to say… Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

I got my first Mac back in 1996, when it wasn't only uncool to have an Apple product, it was near unheard of. I buy products that I like, popular or not. You can go spending your life avoiding "iCult", conforming, bla bla bla all you want.

Still interested why you have a terrorist and attempted murder as your display picture? Because it's the cool thing to do at the moment?

One more thing… you're American, right? Nobody else in the English-speaking world uses 'different than' (and I use 'English-speaking' to include the US… that's how low I set the bar).

I'm so different from (see? THAT's English) 'the masses' that I bought an iPad… when the masses were buying iPads.

An iPad 2 I see, I guess your anti-Apple morals go out the window when the price is right. If you afford it, then it's suddenly not such a bad product/company?

        • Like KingTA suggests - kill the manufacturer vs manufacturer comments.

Rest will be unpublished. Its boring, it changes no ones opinion and just aggravates.

Please all go back to your phones kill a few angry birds and enjoy the experience.

And stick to giving information that helps like Diogenes and KingTA have done

    Yeah cmon guys!
The Apple/Android argument is so old.

    Back to reality:
This is an older model and relatively underpowered and as such will offer a limited user experience, reducing as time goes on and apps become hungrier.
I would suggest there are better deals out there.

    • +2

There may be better deals out there, but the sub-$100 Android 2.2+ market is still tiny, so any entry is going to be a bargain for somebody (if it was unlocked I'd be a lot more excited). I'd probably look around for an LG Optimus One instead of one of these, they're still on the market, they're usually the same money (only unlocked), and their specs are slightly better.

  • Does anyone know is it possible to unlock it on the vodafail site for free?
    Cheers

  • see this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/72901 - LG optimus for $79 at auspost.

  • Guys please keep the discussion about the deal itself. This is not an Apple product, so any discussions about it should be in the forums, not here.
