  • Any comments on cable to use and heat dispersion?

    • +3

I have one! The heat is pretty normal, seems about the same as any laptop charger. I use it with a Belkin braided USB-C to USB-C cable (The one with the 100W rating written on the side):
      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/belkin-boostup-charge-100…
The size is really small and portable (like an ipad charger) and works well to charge my Huawei Matebook 13 laptop.

  • Has anyone purchased one to confirm how good they are and if they are worth the price?

    • +2

I have it! I got it recently and used it with a Belkin USB-C 2m cable. I use it with my Huawei Matebook 13 Laptop which is 65w. Seems to work really well so far and it's really small (about the size of an ipad charger). I felt it the other day to see how hot it got after a few hours and it seemed to get warm but just about the same as any laptop power brick. Definitely not super hot or anything.

      • I wanted one to charge my phone (Samsung S22 Ultra) is this a bit of overkill or still worth it?

        • The S22 ultras support up to 45W, this charger is 65W.

        • I have one to charge my s22 Ultra, Tab S8 Ultra and XPS. It's extremely convenient especially for travelling and I also have the adapter for other countries. If you only intend to charge the s22, the 30W version is both sufficient and noticeably smaller. Or consider the nano 3 which is even smaller.

          • @rookie317: No worries thanks for the info. Edit: Would something like the Atom III for extra ports be decent?

  • +16

Great…. if you only have 1 device.

    • +5

Yeah it's really an insult to be charging $68 for 1 port. I get it, it's GaN but who only needs 1 port? I bought a few awhile back, 3 port GaN's. I bit chunkier than this but more useful for me.

      • +5

That’s the Powerport II which is a different model. This one is designed to be as small as possible.

        • Surely they could fit another 2 ports in that device.

          • +5

@xoom: Anker is not lacking for options. If you want more ports, there are several models that have them.

            • -6

@JSONBourne: Point im making is they could build one this small with extra ports. Not you can buy a bigger one with more ports.

              • +1

@xoom: I’m sure the PowerPort is as small as they can make it. There is quite a lot of tech in these chargers nowadays.

              • +3

@xoom: Supporting multiple devices with different voltages would have more components which take up more room.

                The 735 looks pretty full - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVCjEUHHKTI

I have travelled with a drone, DSLR, Mac, battery bank and iPhone and ONLY this brick and couldn’t recommend it more.

Obviously you’ll need to rotate between a few USB > various port cables but it’s a pretty fast charger even on the 14” MacBook so I never felt I was making compromises picking between which item to charge.

    • The Anker 735 has more ports and is similar to this one

      • The dimensions of the 715, according to the OP's Amazon page, is bigger and heavier than the 735. If that's true, there's no point to buy the 715 :-?

    • the last one had more ports but could not charge one device at 65w so it was kinda pointless if you have a laptop

  • Thanks OP! Been waiting for this to go on sale.

Pretty crazy my MIL Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G Plus phone came with a 120w charger

Didn't really factor the charger into the price but makes it even more of a good deal when I bought it.

    • +6

Your charger is proprietary and won't charge anything other than your Redmi phone, this one uses the universal USB-PD standard and will charge virtually anything with a USB-C port at its maximum speed (provided they aren't also using proprietary implementations).

There's a reason why companies using proprietary charging technology like Xiaomi, OnePlus and Vivo are frowned upon because it increases e-waste for when you inevitably retire the phone - the charger will have to go along with it rather than being repurposed for other things.

      • Ah of course. Hypercharge technology.

But did you read about the charger?

Built-in smart identification chip and Type-C port, compatible with most commercially available smartphones, laptops and other electronic devices. Cleaner desktop and lighter travels.

(When used with the original Xiaomi charging cable, it can safely charge the majority of devices with a Type-C port on the market)

        Compatible with popular mainstream devices
        For truly lighter travels

Interestingly my Dell laptop 65w charger fast charges my Poco X3 pro very well.

I got this early this year. Also GaN but bigger with more ports. works well for me. Charges my 16" M1 MBP + my phone. I paid $44 USD. This one came with a 100w cable.

    • Does it come in AU plug version?

      • No, it doesn't.

  • +2

Good that Anker is making more options available, there are plenty of choices out there for people that want more ports or are fine with bigger chargers.

  • +4

Damn looks good, but still seems too expensive.

    • Yep, its much more compact than the Belkin 68W GaN charger, but that one can be found on TGGC for $44 sometimes and for that price I can look past the size difference.

The size difference is somewhat offset by this one only having one USB-C port, so if you wanted to charge two devices at once like you can with the Belkin one, you'd need to bring two of these anyways.

      • Could you send the link for that Baseus one?
        Thanks

  • I paid less for my Zyron 65W with 3 ports.
It this so much smaller and better to pay extra and lose 2 ports?

    • Much better brand than Zyron. Anker has a proven track record.

It this so much smaller and better to pay extra and lose 2 ports?

No one can answer that but you -

      • How much do you value space/weight?
      • Are you carrying the device around?
      • How many devices do you need to charge?
        • Anker has you covered with the 735 for more devices
  • I've always wondered about the safety using third party chargers, and how they affect the health of macbooks vs the official charger? Anyone with insights on whether these are as or more reliable?

Looking to try this with my M1 Macbook Air 2020, which comes with a 30w charger. Does the charger auto down-regulate the wattage to suit a Macbook Air?

    • +1

      safety using third party chargers

Varies by brand. Most reputable brand will be fine (Anker, Samsung, Belkin, etc). Quality wise, Apple chargers are likely better.

Looking to try this with my M1 Macbook Air 2020, which comes with a 30w charger. Does the charger auto down-regulate the wattage to suit a Macbook Air?

Yes. I use a variety of chargers including a 100w, 87w to charge my MBA.

  • Are there any equivalent chargers with more than 1 port that are fairly compact? Would like one to charge my 16” MacBook Pro and MagSafe Duo Charger when I’m travelling.

  • Does this have a third prong for ground or only two prong version?

    • +1

      No

  • +1

The Only Charger You Need, but one port :/ ?

    • +1

      Marketing is the worst.

  • +1

The 735 was on sell for about the same price, same GaN II tech. I'd get that instead with 2C1A so it's more versatile for not much larger increase in size. One port really is too restrictive unless you are only using it as a permanent laptop charger.

  • will the standard apple iphone cable work for this? (USB-C)

  • +4

This is a pretty specialized charger for somebody who needs a medium amount of power (65W) in a ultra small form factor.

This might be a backup charger that you always leave in your bag, or a good charger for people who are aiming to pack the bare minimum (by weight and volume).

With some compromise, there are ways to charge multiple devices from a single port (e.g. Charging indirectly from another device like a laptop, or using splitter cables).

If you're looking at the charger wondering why there aren't more ports, then it's probably not for you.

    • Great summary. Yes not the cheapest 65w charger out there but it serves a purpose for those who value that.

  • 210 grams?
Amazon also says the 735 is 160 grams.

Does anywhere have the official weight and dimensions?
