DoorDash - PSA Instant Deactivation for Virtual Cards (Wise, Revolut, Zip)

PSA

Doordash will automatically deactivate your account if you use those Virtual Cards from Wise, Revolut and ZIP. It does not matter if you used a different address, phone number or card. It also does not matter if you have a giftcard balance.

You have a slim % chance that they will reactivate it via chat. I've tested 10 accounts so far and only 1 was good.

Physical Pre-paid cards are still good for some reason (Coles Prepaid mastercard).

  • What is the reasoning for using a virtual card? New account bonuses?
    Is it even possible to make a new account easily without a new unique mobile number?

    • $2 sim = new number pretty easily
      Still seems like a bit of a stuff around.

      • You don't even need a slim card. Plenty of companies will allow you to SMS into virtual numbers.

    • My Amazon affiliate money gets paid into a Wise account, so spending it through the Wise card avoids the few cents fee for transferring it to a regular bank account. Though it's not really a "virtual" card because Wise sent me a physical card as well.

        • I assumed not, but I dunno maybe. I thought the whole point of the cards was not worrying about dealing with cash anymore. Even drugs aren't bought with cash anymore, not necessarily anyway.

              The best part is if someone clicks one of my links to a video game controller, but then in the next 24 hours they buy $1000 worth of the new Sneazy shoes or whatever, then I get $120 commission on that too. Of course that rarely happens, but just knowing that it could happen is exciting, like when you enter a lottery.

    Got notification that Revolut is upgrading its card to debit card.

        • and I'm assuming you were trying to place a order that was gonna charge that revolut card for x amount.
          Cause my account hasn't been deactivated yet even though it has a revolut card on it because I haven't actually paid using that card yet since my orders are being paid for with credits on account.

          • @vinnychase: Nope gift card, except it requires you to add a card before checking out even if total is $0. This is only for new accounts though since the start of the month… Didnt have this problem before probably updated their system.

              @umoddbro: Today I tried placing an order after long time. At first it said something along the lines of 'please use a different payment method' since account only had credit. I added disposable revolut card and successfully checked out. When will my account be deactivated?
              Edit: please note that the amount charged to my revolut card was nada if that changes anything.

              • @vinnychase: Is your account 'new'? You only get deactivated only if your account is new and haven't placed an order before.

                • @umoddbro: yup its brand new. signed up today under the new worse give $20 get $30 offer.
                  Should be noted that when logging in they have removed the send to email option for some reason so I need to maintain access to my burner sim.

                    • @umoddbro: yes so i loaded account with a $25 door dash gift card. Tried to checkout. didn't let me. added revolut disposable pink card. then it went thru. $0 authorisation on revolut card only.

                      • @vinnychase: My account was facing the same issue when they ask me to try different payment method so i have added Zip one time used card but then it was still not working so i removed it. Overnight, they just deactivated my account and I have just redeemed giftcards and have about $70 credit. They refused to reactivate my account and refuse to issue me the refunds.
                        This is my long time account that I used. However, the phone number was the same with another one which I signed up long time ago and did not use it.

                        Any advice please? Anyone facing the same issues?

                        • @RoseJJ: If its a long time account why did it not already have saved payment method. Maybe Doordash doesn't like ZIP as the title suggests. I suggest waiting a bit before requesting reactivation. Your credits won't go anywhere and eventually they will unlock you I hope.

                          In regards to the order you've were trying to place. What device are you using. What promo codes were being used. Had you placed several orders in the last 24 hours. Had you received any refunds or credits from door dash recently. You say you have 2 accounts. Have both been used on the same ip address recently.

                            Yes i placed lots of order in one day and have cancelled due to change mind a few times and got credit back. I only use this long time account and did not use the other account so not really sure what i did wrong and they phone customer service is so hopeless. They just kept saying waiting for email and the email just said can't reactivate due to violate terms and condition.
                            Yes perhaps, they tracked by IP address since it's from the same computer and home address but I did not use the other account at all for a while.

  • Any more recent updates on this?

    I tried using a wise virtual card (one of the semi permanent ones, not a single use one). And the account got locked right away. All I had to put in was the number, ccv, expiry and postcode though so how do they know it is a wise card?

    • New account with virtual card will get blocked.

  • Doordash has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I wouldn't recommend using them to resolve an issue unless you enjoy frequent headaches

  • Doordash is the absolute worst ever. They have the shittiest systems of all delivery apps. Created a new account and added a new debit card that has never been used on doordash before and they suddenly want to verify the card for "security purposes" by scanning the card. I scan the card and then the app throws an random error which doesn't make any sense. After that it doesn't let me to add any payment method nor via any payment method such as google pay, paypal etc. Contacted support and they are literally useless just suggesting me to try again later. I for some reason thought that everything would be smooth sailing and added $15 doordash credits that I had to this account and that is now totally unusable. Doordash has the crappiest system ever that even if you have enough credits to place an order they still require you to have a valid payment method. 'Valid' as in valid for them where they use some of the shitties algorithms ever to determine if the card is valid or not
