francesca2148 on 20/06/2012 - 12:41 ¶Hi scud70,
SanDisk is known as reputable company with reliable & high quality product.
I've been dealing with SanDisk for a while, the overall product range failure rate is less than 0.01%here's a review that you can check out in details for these SSD:

Tested SanDisk Extreme SSD 240GB, using SATA3, the performance is very impressive. However, when I tried it with USB 3 (using Seagate GoFlex USB 3.0 cable) and SATA2 (using eSATA), the performance is much slower. Tried 2 PCs, one of them uses intel H77 chipset. It could be my setup. If you connect one of these SSDs to SATA3, you will be quite happy with the performance.
+1 voteErr, no.
What netsurfer is saying is that when attached to his SATA2 port, the performance is below par for even a SATA2 drive; however, when connected to SATA3 port it is fine.
This idiosyncrasy has been mentioned maybe a dozen or more times in various SSD threads!
+1 voteThanks SB. Yes, the SATA2 performance (at least on my Asus intel H77 board and another board running old/ancient 965 chipset) is really below avereage.
SATA3: approx 500MB/sec read/write (sequential)
SATA2: approx 125MB/sec read/write (sequential)Another Sandforce chipset SSD of mine has the same issue. However, Crucial m4 (not Sandforce chipset) does not have the same problem (SATA3 still faster, but SATA2 results is quite impressive as well - basically cannot complain with m4's performance when it is connected to a SATA2 port or USB3 port).
Like SB pointed out, even with Sandisk Extreme SSD running on SATA2 (which handicapped the drive quite severely), the performance will still be better than a traditional hard drive. However, it would be worthwhile running the drive on SATA3 (get a SATA3 card if needed / maybe Asus U3S6).

It might be worth looking to see if there's a better deal if you're after a SandiskPersonally I'm waiting for an Aussie dealer to sell the superior Corsair M4 256GB for $200 or less.

In terms of raw speed using SATA3, Sandisk Extreme SSD is faster (esp. in sequential write speed).
That said, Crucial m4 has been around for a while and it is quite well regarded (and the performance hit on SATA2/USB3 is a lot less - more consistent performance).MemoryCity's prices beats MSY prices and you don't need to go to MSY to get the SSD (last time I went, they did not have any Sandisk ones in stock).
francesca2148 on 20/06/2012 - 13:57 ¶Hi,
Where did you saw the USD397 delivered? Haven't seen the prices below USD400.
Cheers
+1 voteLike I mentioned above, I found these drives perform very well in SATA3, but not so good in SATA2. It could be my setup. Personally, I would only recommend these SSDs if you plan to use it with SATA 3.
I also have a similar issue with another Sandforce chipset drive (great in SATA3, very average in SATA2).
I wouldn't get a SSD for SATA1, the bandwidth is too limited.

Thanks for the support.
I believe it will take a few months to drop below $200 each.
Last heavy dropped was early may, I suspect next big one in August.Cheers
francesca2148 on 21/06/2012 - 18:08 ¶Hi robche,
Drop me an email in early august.
What is your target price anyway, around $400 mark?Cheers

yeah the $400 incl. delivery would be the sweet spot.
you guys don't have any msata ssd drives do you? because I would be chasing one of those at the same time. Will email you around August (sales@memorycity.com.au ?)

great price with free delivery. ive been using the 120gb version ($129 pickup) for a few weeks now. haven't had a issue, 537mbs non raid sata 3, raid 0 was slightly faster but overall id say dont waste your money raiding a ssd? dont even see a need to even raid it. boot up time <5 sec, adobe <3sec non raided.
overall have been happy with the sandisk product, ie cf extreme pro for camera.
other than that. sandisk just seems to be cheap because they seem like they're trying to get into the ssd market.

Francesca,
Sorry to hijack. I bought a 16GB Sandisk microSD card from the deal you posted on the 3rd of May. After filling up the card once, it write-protected itself - I can't delete files or partitions, format it, or copy anything else to it. SDFormatter can't format either, it says the card is write-protected. I've tried formatting it with usb readers, SD adaptors with the write-protect tab disabled, and my phone - nothing works, the card is 'frozen'.
I emailed sales@memorycity.com.au about it on Monday night. I still hadn't received a reply by Wednesday so I emailed again. It's now Thursday afternoon and I still haven't heard anything from you guys. What can I do about my dead card?
Thanks

Hi Francesca,
I sent you my email address via OZB's messaging system last Thursday. I still haven't heard back. I haven't received a reply from my email to sales@memorycity.com.au last Monday night (and again on Wednesday) either - that's almost one week with no response.
Has anyone else had a problem with their Memory City purchase? Was their response this slow?
francesca2148 on 25/06/2012 - 15:42 ¶Hi eug,
I replied emails within 2 business days, all emails are off my check list.
Can i please have your email address?I will reply to you via OZB msg.
