Ni-Mh no deal. I guess that why they give you an option to subscribe.

why? by the sounds of it, this item has lasted the test of time, they wouldn't still be making it if it weren't.

one of the reviews claims the charge lasts all day

    • Why? Nothing wrong with MiMh, in fact it has many positives over the newer Lithium chemistry and obviously better than Nickel Cadmium.

The product itself though, very old design and not at a price I'd pay.

Jesus these were around when I was an apprentice. Nearly 30 years ago.

The design is fantastic for mass assembly of electronics though. We have two Makita ones in our workshop.

Subscribe and save on a screwdriver? Is this so unreliable that it breaks every few months?

    • Subscribe & Save: 10% $134.10 You save 10% on auto-deliveries for this item through Subscribe and Save.
      1month - Amazon recommendation :)

      • I'm aware of that. They could just do an additional 10% off and save ppl the hassle of cancelling lol.

        • This is what Amazon wants, you forgot to cancel so they can send you another one at whatever the price is on the redelivery date

    • Hmm yeah, weird this product has a monthly subscription

we used these in a computer server assembly/configuration lab back in the 1990's - 2000's, there was probably 20 of them in use across all the technicians/engineers and had multiple spare battery's, we caned them for years and never had a failure.

    • also, I recall actually having to purchase more of these around 99-01 as the number of technicians increased, they were well over $200 for each the kit,

Panasonic power tools are excellent quality. Their battery drills last for years

Seems very expensive compared to the Bosch IXO that was on sale yesterday for <$60.

    • see my comment above, this is worth it,

    • The Bosch is awful in comparison.

20 + years ago I was using this Screwdriver when working for Hallmark Computers! Model Ey503. still got one, still works, may invest in a new battery one day. Something tells me none of my Lithium devices will be mentioned in 20 years!

  • Will the quality be the same as the originals? The one I had 20 years ago was made in Japan, this one is made in China..

  • Keep an eye out for a deal on these -

Had mine a lot of years (maybe 12) and still on original batteries. Excellent drill.
