Love a good hit of coke

    • +2

      Me too!

Not such a fan of the sugarless version, though. Seems to defeat the purpose :P

      • +4

Opposite for me - love the taste and refreshing feeling, hate the needless calories and amount of sugar haha

        • +5

I hate the furry feeling of sugar coating my mouth, so gross.

        • +6

If I'm drinking Coke, I want the maximum allowable human dosage of sugar and caffeine. Anything less is a half measure. Do it properly or don't do it at all! :P

          • @AngusD: Agreed. Same as how I don't understand how alcohol free beer is a growing market. Why drink beer if you don't intend to get drunk.

            • -2

@star-ggg: Well no alcohol beer doesn't get you drunk

How is that the same as no sugar coke which is just healthier and tastes same for many people

              • +2

@abjsdhasehasee: I drink alcohol cause I enjoy the feeling of being drunk. I drink coke because I enjoy the taste of coke. And no coke/no sugar do not taste the same at all.

How much "healthier" are you making coke by taking away sugar? It's still a heavily processed concoction of both natural and synthetic ingredients.

                • @star-ggg: Less healthy - this may be free but you couldn't pay me to drink this artificial crap - I stick to the original in low quantity / moderation:

                  https://7news.com.au/lifestyle/warning-to-all-diet-cola-drin….

"Diet cola and other sugar-free fizzy drinks can increase the risk of fatal conditions like heart disease and stroke by 10 per cent, a new study finds.
Less than a can a day could be enough to cause health damage.
Millions of people worldwide opt for the sugar-free version of drinks as a “healthier option”, because they have zero calories.
But, scientists at the French National Institute for Health say artificial sweeteners should not be seen as a safe swap for sugar.
“This study suggests an association between higher artificial sweetener consumption and increased heart disease risk
…as little as half a can per day can lead to health issues…
Data collected from 130,000 French citizens found that a third of people regularly consume the sugar-free alternatives, which contain aspartame, sucralose and acesulfame potassium.
The study also found that top consumers of artificial sweetener had a 10 per cent higher rate of heart disease than the lower consumers.
Alarmingly, the rate of stroke in top consumers was 30 per cent higher than the lower consumers."

                  and another https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/artificial-sweete…
                  Etc…

PS "Coca-Cola Australia uses four primary sweeteners as sugar replacements; stevia leaf, aspartame, acesulfame potassium and sucralose. "

@MrFrugalSpend: Anyone who thinks they are living a healthier lifestyle by drinking no sugar products are kidding themselves. All soft drinks are on the complete opposite of a glass of water with fresh lemon + mint.

                    • @star-ggg: "I stick to the original in low quantity" - the nonsense study you are quoting doesn't seem to be concluding anything useful? It certainly doesn't look to be comparing the consumption of sugar vs sugar-free like you are implying.

Anyone who thinks they are living a healthier lifestyle by drinking no sugar products

Well, it's a healthier lifestyle than drinking the equivalent quantity of a sugar'ed product.

If you are comparing it to water, then clearly that is a different equation. It's probably healthier to eat raw spinach all day, drink water and then die of old age.

                      • @watwatwat: Its not a nonsense study, it was professionally conducted and had 130,000 participants and there's now been many studies all finding similar results.

I'm certainly not suggesting standard coke is healthy. Neither is the study - you have missed the very useful point - The main issue is awareness, people KNOW original sugary coke is bad, and if they are concerned with health treat it with appropriate moderation - but Diet Coke and No Sugar is deceptive as people are led to believe / think they can guzzle the stuff as its not bad for them (I know people who say this, get massive upsized quantities daily, also see abjsdhasehasee's "100% healthier" misguided comment below). That's why its important to realise its still bad for you and should be treated with appropriate moderation.

People thinking something is good for them which is actually bad is more dangerous than known bad stuff, because they aren't making a conscious choice. Companies like coke are massive marketing giants and know they need an offering to tempt those who want a coke but say I better not, l need to get more healthy… in reality, they should get the water

                        • @MrFrugalSpend:

Its not a nonsense study, it was professionally conducted

You don't even know what the study is concluding.

You skipped that answer when you replied to me. Is it comparing non-sugar coke to people drinking water? Then that is a useless comparison. Of course water is better for you, I don't need to read a study to know that.

People thinking something is good for them

                          No one said that.

We are saying it is better than full sugar coke.

                • @star-ggg: 100% healthier, no heart disease, diabetes.

                  • @abjsdhasehasee: How many cans of normal coke per day do I need to drink to get heart disease and diabetes?

                    • +4

@MrFrugalSpend: Yes despite what Google's first result says the actual scientific consensus is that they are totally safe. That study you linked had the artifical sweetener group eating 7% more ultra processed foods compared to every other group. Also a cohort study with no causal reason as to why or how artificial sweeteners affect our health. Also the same cohort in this study https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31142457/ showed that a equal percentage increase in ultra processed foods equaled the same percentage increase of heart disease. Again no causal way has been explained we've only seen that artifical sweeteners do not affect our glycaemic control etc. Say there somehow is a downside it's still 100x better than sugar lmao

                      • @abjsdhasehasee: That's too much science talk for the average Ozbargain user mate.

                        • @TheBardsTale: true. I do wonder how the whole taste difference works tho. To me there is literally no difference in taste and they both taste great but to others its apparently very obvious with an aftertaste. wonder if its partly placebo.

                          • -1

                            @abjsdhasehasee:

Say there somehow is a downside it's still 100x better than sugar lmao

Haha. When people call things "artificial crap" and brag about drinking real sugar without knowing anything about what they're talking about.

But don't worry guys, this study they found off google is "PROFESSIONALLY CONDUCTED".

                            • @watwatwat: Well if im being honest, the study is extremely well put together, I just doubt its accuracy.

    • Might have to line up to get this deal!

    • And this batch hasn't been cut it with powdered sugar

  • +4

It just appeared in mine as well, good spotting mate
It also lets you pick any size so you could update to free large coke which saves you $4.5 at my maccas

    • Yes but does anyone ever buy a large coke by itself?

      • +3

People who work on the road would benefit more than a work from home or office person.

      • I often walk down and grab a large frozen coke no sugar on a hot day for $1.

    • +3

I have not checked recently. $4.50 sounds nuts

      • +2

I know right who would pay $4.50 for postmix

  • -2

    Free sugar water

    • +19

      Free sugar aspartame water

      • +1

The brain works in mysterious ways. The tiniest about of a certain chemical to make you think something sugary sweet.
        Crazy.

        • Some chemicals just bind to the receptors on your tongue much better than others. Aspartame is just one example

  • Not targeted, same as last year.

  • I have it

  • +1

Not targeted, got on all accounts. Hopefully get the monopoly pieces with it too

  • +3

Anyone else not able to log into the app? Getting error saying something in their end…

    • Yep can't log in because it says I haven't accepted the T's and C's every time.

      • No free coke for you then

      • I can't either

    • It's been like this, for me, for about a week now

    • Only saw the free coke when i enabled location on my phone.

  • Cheers for the heads up.

Still got a free small coke and free sundae from the Monopoly thing to claim.

  • Got it. Thanks OP.

  • Free Poison

  • +1

I guess some people are getting a free coke every day until 30/10 😀

    • You're an ideas man!

  • Just after monopoly ended lol wonder if they'll peel off the stickers before giving me the drink as usual. Find that quite petty XD

    • no problem ☺️

    • My one has stickers peeled off.

      Those BASTARDS.

      • I read this in Kyle's voice (South Park)

    • I got a monopoly cup and won a cheeseburger. The guy plastered the receipt over the monopoly tickets on purpose.

      • My local pealed the stickers off. Bastards owe me tickets from when they sold me hash browns without them during the promo period. Another store left the stickers on; I won some $5 voucher I'm not going to use and a free small coke.

        • Outrageous! My local maccas always screw me around when I use the app. Once I paid for a 5c cheeseburger and it charged me, deal disappeared and then ERROR. They refused to honour it and offered me a refund of the 5c lol. I complained in the app and they gave me a cheeseburger meal.

  • why does it have to be coke no sugar? eww i might as well drink pepsi!

    • +1

I think eww know why… they can’t give this stuff away. But, at least they’re trying

      • if it's not the real stuff (coke) it's just not worth it!

    • +1

I think it's in response distract people from them silently removing Sprite and replacing it with Sprite Zero in all their Australian menu.

      • +2

really? didn't know that. if coke is ever removed i'll stop eating maccas all together. it's the only reason i eat maccas. i know it's only syrup and water but it's delish!

  • Does anyone know if this will trigger the '300 bonus points when you buy a drink' offer?

  • free crap

  • Got one

  • +1

love this but now my monopoly sml coke wins are useless

    • Mine says use by 23rd.

  • Yum

  • Guess im having a free coke and the sundae that i won from the monopoly game.

  • +1

Who said there's no free lunch! Large coke no sugar, free small fries from monopoly and free big mac from monopoly!

    • +3

Not really free as you bought something to get the monopoly tickets 😋

  • For those wondering, it appears to not be targeted and expires 30/10

  • +2

Can we upgrade it to water?

    • +5

Tip out the coke, keep the ice, wait an hour and it'll be water.

    • It's water with a bit of crap added

  • I tried to get my $3 mcmuffin today, put order thru app at 12:15pm, it gets accepted and I pay $3.. I go to collect at drive thru and they say I can't receive it because it's after 12pm (deal only available unit 12pm). The still charged me $3 on cc and didn't return the deal to my app for use tomorrow :'(

    • +1

Should of gone all Michael Douglas on them

  • Kinda bemusing not everyone's experiencing login issues.

Sorry we are trying hard to fix this error asap, please try again later… 12 days later…
Error[-10022] welcome to maccas, the app that displays error codes to customers.

  • +1

i always ask for no ice so i'll get more of the drink.

    • +1

same, especially with small drinks included in happy meals, if they add ice you only get like 1/2 cup of actual drink

      • the ice not only dilutes the drink, but depending on the regional water quality, gives it a undesirable taste

  • Literally free drinks until the 31st lol, when you remake your account it gives you this deal again.

    • Wdym remake, like delete

      • Logout. Create new account using different email.

        • Does it work with delete and sign up, already got so many accounts

  • +1

Can't log in to app. Keep gettting error -10022. Been like this last 2 days. Have done everything: clear cache, data, uninstall etc. Any tips?

  • +1

Got a large yesterday at Westfields Town Hall. They gave it to me in a Monopoly cup, with stickers intact. Free cheeseburger and free small fries were peeled. Lunch sorted!

    • +3

      #winning

  • Cheeeerrrss!

  • Seems this expired early? Not seeing it anymore on any of my accounts.

    • still in all of mine

      • Yeah was about to edit, finally got it to show up… app keeps glitching and showing the deals of the previous logged in account, so frustrating.
