The result is electronically sent to ING and completes the application. Presumably Auspost forwards the annotated page or an image of it to ING also.
greenpossum on 21/06/2012 - 13:38 ¶Nothing special. Just that you fill in the forms online and they may ask you to get your identity verified at a PO. To deal with the bank, use the Internet or phone, no bricks and mortar branches. Honestly I don't remember the last time I walked into a bank.
+1 voteDon't use WiFi connected Internet to do online banking.
ING Direct is -GREAT- value…
If you're happy to let your payments (salary, eBay, etc.) go directly into your account, & take funds out via EFTPOS (at Coles, Foodland, Woolies, etc.), you'll do much better with ING Direct.
Get $0.50 paid -to- you for each $200 withdrawal via EFTPOS.
We recommend it!

I think it's extremely unlikely that someone could get anything meaningful by capturing your wireless packets. Perhaps if you are really paranoid, change your WiFi password as often as you want.
Jonaseymour on 21/06/2012 - 13:35 ¶Damn I openned one about a month ago for a lousy $30.
Might have to get the wife to open one especially for this
Austin 316 on 21/06/2012 - 13:47 ¶Can I close this account once I get the $100 bonus. Is there a cancellation fee or any other hidden charges? If not, I am very tempted to do this. Can somebody please update me soon?

+1 voteAustin 316 on 21/06/2012 - 13:57 ¶Just had a chat with the bank's online chat facility. The rep told me that this promo is only available to those who got the email about INFOCHOICE promo, so I am not eligible :(
Let me know if someone has got a work around ;)
Devils Advocate on 21/06/2012 - 14:30 ¶I'd say when you put in your email address as you are filling out the form they will check if that is one of the email addresses that they sent the promo to. Shame though, I just signed up without the email

Given they ask for so much information…

Austin 316 on 21/06/2012 - 14:29 ¶Yeah. I am interested in this and other options like forwarding the email(if available). Although I am not eligible, I wouldn't neg this deal as its great for anyone who is eligible.

Cilla: Hi Jimmy.
You: Hi Cilla. How are you. I have just opened an maximiser account, and insert the promo code of "INFOCHOICE"
You: I want to check if the code is valid and the next question is how I can transfer the money to that account.
Cilla: In relational to this promotion did you receive an email informing you about the account.
You: I found the poromo code online, it says $100 Cold Hard for New ING direct Savings Maximiser Accounts.
Cilla: Unfortunately you are not eligible for this promotion. This promotion was targeted to certain customers, and is only eligible to those who received the email. You: okay. thanks.
jimmyliu513 on 21/06/2012 - 14:57 ¶You: but if the promo is available for public view, how come it is not vaild for new customers.
Cilla: As mentioned it is a great account. It shouldn't be available to the public and it looks like a few shopping website have posted the information without permission. We are currently attempting to have it removed.

And how are they going to do this? Where does it say you must use the same email you subscribed to infochoice to sign up? Where does it state that you are only elegible if you have received the email?
No my friends, ING Direct have screwed up here and now will have to cough up.
firepowered on 21/06/2012 - 15:21 ¶How long does it take to transfer money to other bank accounts?
I have everyday and online with ANZ atm, and I can transfer funds between accounts instantly.
When I transfer to my NAB account, takes 1 day before funds move/show up.
How about ING? Are they "associated" with any banks such that transfers are instant?

+2 votesT_double_U on 21/06/2012 - 16:53 ¶To those saying 'i rang up and they said it was only for eligible customers' could they just be saying that to discourage the 'non disirables' from signing up?? just a thought.I did sign up just in case and even if it doesn't go through i'll still be getting 1.1% more then i'm currently getting well for 4 months at least anyway.
T_double_U on 21/06/2012 - 17:51 ¶Cheers,i'll move it over when the ING rate goes below ubanks rate.

I'm interested but have never opened an online bank account before. Can anyone give insights or precautions on what I should look out for? Thanks :)
