Good value since 1080p 144/165hz IPS monitors generally over $250. Although note that apparently not that awesome compared to previous version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTMU3p5GMkM

    • 90% sRGB coverage seems to be the major knock. Everything else can be easily adjusted to be satisfactory, but it's missing something from a very basic standard.

Solid gaming monitor for the price, and I expect this to become the new price point for FHD 144Hz-180Hz.

  • Hmm for the price, cant complain, looking goodđź‘Ťđź‘Ť

  • Can anyone tell me about associated import fees for items from Amazon UK? Will I be hit with fees after paying or are they always included at checkout?

      Total before GST: $146.05
Estimated GST to be Collected: $14.61
      Order Total: $160.66

      It's MORBIN TIME!

      • Gooo Planet!

  • shows in stock now, what a deal!

  • For someone who only codes, would it be better to buy 4K/60 without all the gaming bells and whistles?

    • +4

      Not at this size

    • +1

1440p is likely plenty at 24/25". But if you're going up to 27"+ then 4K is a nice to have.

    • I don't think there's much value in going 4k at 25 inches.

    • +1

      I would go with 1440p for a 25" non-gaming monitor

    • I recently upgraded from 24" 1440p to 27" 4K, although the 1440p was "good enough" it was just that, opening PDFs in split screen tends to be unpleasant experience since the text gets really hard to read.

Visual studio just looks really pleasant though. Nothing like looking at Consolas with incredibly crisp corners

      • +1

27 isn't enough for side by side split screen honestly. It's barely acceptable. I went from 27 1440p to 27 4k and honestly don't think it's worth it at all. I did have the dell ultrasharp 1440p though, which was amazing.

    • +2

I would probably go with a 32"+ 4k for code. The extra vertical space would come in handy for code.

I bought an ultra wide for better workflow with DAWs

    • +4

depends how sharp your eyes are. Generally 27" 1440p or 32" @4k.

  • Nice find OP! Got one

  • +3

Just in case anyone’s confused, this is FHD, not 1440p.

  • how good a deal is this? 25" fhd seems an awkward spot, and 165 hz seems excessive for normal gamers

    • +2

U are right, but this is just an inch over the normal 24" fhd that already look fine, 165hz is not that much different than 144hz for normal gamers cuz im assuming u mean casual and budget gamers that dont have strong enough cards that will give them more than that.
Personally this is a great deal and if i was in need of a budget monitor then this dominates that need

    • +2

Don't worry about the odd number. When you have the monitor in front of you, you won't be able to tell whether it's a 24" or 25". It's simply up to you whether you want the common 27" or if you're fine saving some money and going with a slightly smaller 25".

165Hz is not excessive for gamers.

    • +2

24" is typically 23.8" actual, and 25" something like 24.5".

These are very minor differences given that's the diagonal measurement.

Do you have to change the plug?

    • Does anyone actually know, bit of an annoyance if you have to.

      • It's from Amazon UK so I would assume so, uses a standard kettle plug cable.

    • +3

Q&A on the product page states it comes with a standard Australian plug.

      • +1

recieved mine today - UK plug

        • Wow that was fast, mine still hasn't been dispatched. Will have to buy a cable which doesn't bother me since they're cheap

          • @vodkapapii: I'm super useless with this stuff so I rely heavily on the kind strangers on ozbargain - will any cable off ebay/amazon do? or should i look for a branded/certified cable?

            • @illiterate: Likewise. From what I've read they seem to be universal and therefore interchangeable so any one should work. Reputable stores like PLE and Mwave are selling them for ~$5 so I doubt there is much difference between different cables.

              • @vodkapapii: I got the monitor delivered today. I think I have some random power cables in a box somewhere, no issues just swapping it I assume? anyone else here do this and monitor works fine?

                • +1

@hexedhavoc: Haven't tried but from a quick google search it seems that it should be fine just swapping the cable. Still waiting on mine to arrive so let me know how it goes if you happen to swap the cable.

                • @hexedhavoc: do you mind which cable and from where you ended up buying ?

  • +1

Can this be mounted with any monitor arms?

  • the non S version (original) is much better from what the review says.

  • The wife needs 2 monitors for boring work tasks, these are appropriate?

    • +1

Perfect I’m my opinion. Having had dual 27”, it’s too wide and you’re straining to see the outer edges (ie. moving your head too much).

    • Yeah would be a very fluid work flow. 165hz on both screen. The mouse cursor would be smooth as butter.

  • +1

    Hows the warranty work?

  • It's a good deal! IPS is better for gaming than VA. With pretty much every VA monitor I had, you get ghosting with dark colours. The size is good for 1080p. 27 or 32 is good for 1440p, but for 4K IMO you want 43" to avoid having to use scaling.

    • IPS has powdered trailing with motion due to the inherent nature is the tech, though you are right that most VA has too much dark smearing in comparison.

If the dark smearing is under control, you do get better motion clarity it of fast VA.

      • Shame not more TN monitors around, still the fastest!

        • 240Hz TN has been, just barely sold here, 360Hz and 500Hz TN should pick up the pace though.

    • for 4K IMO you want 43" to avoid having to use scaling.

Display scaling on 27” 4K or 27” 5K makes text look really nice though. I definitely prefer it for productivity.

  • thanks, bought 50

  • +1

Got 2. Thanks. Should be good enough for work.

  • Ordered one, ive been gaming on my BenQ 24" 144hz 3dvision monitor for almost 10 years now, havent felt the need for an upgrade but at this price, you cant go wrong.

  • I got the monitor delivered today. I think I have some random power cables in a box somewhere, no issues just swapping it I assume? anyone else here do this and monitor works fine?

  • Mine also arrived this morning.

    • +1

tried it yet? I haven't got a hold of a cable replacement yet… let us know how it goes if you have :)

  • Has anyone actually changed the plug yet and confirmed working fine?
    xD

    • per BenQ Australia reply 'you can buy the standard IEC power cord form any computer stores like Officeworks, JB HiFi etc.'

      I will try today

      • using the cable supplied and travel plug (AU/UK adapter) works for me. I didnt buy a cable, will do when get chance. For the time being, all works fine.
