The Echo Show 15 is 10% off today and other Amazon devices appear to be discounted.

I've been keeping an eye on this and want to pull the trigger but thinking it might be worth waiting for Black Friday sales to see what it goes down to.

Waiting for echo 4 to be on sale. Sound quality is great

    • Echo Studio?

  • I wonder if the Fire Tablets will ever be released here…

  • The only problem is that it can't play Youtube

    • If the same as the Echo Show 8, that's not entirely true. If you ask it to open Youtube it will open it in a web browser and you can use it via touch controls.

It's clunky, but it can play Youtube.

Also as someone in the Amazon ecosystem that isn't the only problem, but it is one of them. Alexa's voice recognition is way worse than Google's, but their prices for video calling capable smart displays are way better than Google's so there's a trade off. We went Amazon during lockdown and while there are a few annoyances, overall I'm pretty happy with it.

  • Im so tempted to move from Google - Alexa , but alot of Effort configuring light and Ducted , TV's , Sound systems , Cameras
but Google is DUMB , and i mean DUMB …sigh, might as well try Alexa on something small and go from there …

What issues are you experiencing? Google struggles to understand us and it wasn't always like this. I'm considering moving to Alexa for purely home automation but I don't know if it'll be any better.

ask Google the weather and it turns on the lights
        or, there was a Glitch
or Turn on Lounge light and then goes "Let me search that for you" lol

so many times i have come close throwing then Hubs out hahaha
its like they take 1 step forward with the updates nd 3 steps back, i dont think QA is done half of the time

I have both and Alexa is way better for home automation. 99% accuracy and immediate action.

Google is better for the stuff you would normally type into Google, so asking what time shops shut or definitions of words, etc. I find there is a 1-2 second delay before it activates an IOT device and that was intolerable. Therefore I have way more Alexa devices than Google.

        • When I had both, I used to use Google, but used IFTTT shortcut to say "alexa….."

So I'd ask google and something she'd outsource to Alexa. Tracking Amazon packages were one thing I remember.

I love Alexa - everything is Alexa at home for me!

  • Does anyone know if it's possible to display a Home Assistant Dashboard on these displays?

Cheers OP, snagged another Echo Dot. Love these (profanity) things, got 3 Echo Shows set up throughout the house, a Dot in the attic for music, and now we'll have another dot to drop in the baby's room for lullabyes and whatnot.

Got the usual "Download the Amazon App, spend 39 or more within a month, and get 10 bucks off" deal too for new customers, y'all should too, effectively a free Echo Dot if you were gonna make such a purchase in the next month.

I am patiently waiting for the 2nd version of the Show 15. It doesnt have any glowing reviews at the moment.

  • Cheers again, OP. Grabbed another Echo Dot as a quick cheap lil stocking stuffer for the kiddo. Can't go wrong for $10.

  • I just burned Telstra Plus points on the Echo Show 15. (110,000 points)

  • Anybody know of an Alexa skill that uses BOM as a weather sources instead of AccuWeather (or whatever the default is) that's often out by 5-6 degrees?
