[NSW, VIC, QLD, SA] GT Omega ART Full Simulator Cockpit from $499.95 Delivered ($474.96 with Coupon) @ GT Omega

640
KG5

I am in the market to replace my driving stand with a cockpit and stumbled upon GT Omega cockpits. They happen to be on sale for Black Friday already and can be stacked with additional coupon codes (best I can find is 5% off).

A bit of research suggests the ART is great value for an entry level cockpit including a sturdy frame, lightweight build and can be separated into two parts for storage or moving.

The Omega Titan and Omega Prime are also on sale but I'm not sure the value is as good as you move up the tiers.
GT Omega Titan - $693.46
GT Omega Prime - $1,044.96

Seats can be upgraded in all versions or removed completely to install your own. The prices will vary depending on the seats and accessories chosen.

Is this setup to simulate driving down Lygon Street on a Saturday night in your fully sik VY Commodore?

If you hook a few reindeer up to the front of this, you could probably make some decent coin in a couple of weeks.

    • +1

Just set a search alert for reindeer.

Interesting. The Prime was cheaper than this a month ago. I thought it was the normal price!

  • Hard to get one months ago and finally it’s in stock… but no longer need it

  • I don't know if I can justify this. It cost almost double what I paid for my g29 and I am torn between saving and going DD or spending and getting a cockpit because hooking up the wheel to my desk does not currently cut it

Getting a full cockpit for a G29 is a bit overboard lol

For this price you can get CSL Elite V2 with loadcell new.

How about a racing stand around the $150 mark first.

      • +1

I upgraded my g29 setup to thrustmaster with load cell pedals and cannot use the brake without pushing the racing stand. Currently using clutch as brake until I get a cockpit.

        • are you any good with woodworking? i had professional plns for a wooden arcade type cockpit somewhere if you're interested and i can find it. think I posted it here a few years ago

      • +3

I disagree. A cockpit is a much better investment than a better wheel/pedal setup.

        Racing stands are quite flimsy

    • +3

I'm only using a G29 and I bought my cockpit whilst using the previous Driving Force wheel. Was a worthy 'investment' and makes for such a better experience.

    • +3

Just go with whatever makes you happy and what you'll use. If you're staying with a g29 for a while this will improve your experience and should be okay. I had the playseat challenge for a while. It's ultralight and very comfortable. If you are looking for a direct drive wheel with load cell pedals in the near future this setup is not appropriate - you will need to buy twice and upgrade to something more solid and more expensive. In that case I'd go for the prime first or a trakracer tr80 or tr120 (for more customisation) which will be overkill and upgrade the pedals and wheelbase in the future. Also be aware that a prime/trakracer rig is infinitely heavier and more expensive… I think one expensive mistake that people make is not having a clear plan, be realistic and buying twice or buying overlapping tech. E.g there's no point getting button boxes and triples if you then want to race in VR. Also an angel cries everytime an expensive rig goes on Facebook with less than 10 hours usage and it's not uncommon. Make sure you love Simracing and can afford the upgrades before you spend big, if that's what you want. Most people slowly upgrade over many years. Hope that helps! Have fun!

This is a great response and I know quite a few people who have gone in without a plan when buying other bits of tech and have been stuck with mismatches. I definitely need to give some thought to my upgrade path, especially as some of these rigs do not have much portability and to be honest, I don't have that much spare room around the home so I would need to find a permanent home for it. I have looked at rigs on facebook but for some reason, all the tech I look for is always listed at msrp and in some cases, even above it. Otherwise, I might have gone with a DD and cockpit bundle off marketplace by now

        • If space is an issue you will definitely hate an 8020 rig. Not only do they take up a lot of space but they are also very heavy.

I know what you mean. I'm guessing you're talking about "Sim Racing Australia Buy Swap Sell" on Facebook? The prices are ridiculous. I think people are mostly showing off their rigs rather than trying to sell them.
Another option is used gear. If you look around or check eBay or Facebook marketplace - good deals do come up. I got wheelbase and pedals used and saved a lot. Even after 2 years usage I could easily sell the gear for the same price I got it for tomorrow if I wanted.

Everyone has different circumstances and goals so aligning your upgrade path is a great idea. The good news is a Logitech g29 provides a lot of bang for it's buck and it will never say die. You can have many happy years with that alone (unless you install an aftermarket large wheel on it, that'll kill it). A cockpit is definitely more fun than a desk. Just depends on how seriously you get into it for how stable the one you get is. I had my playseat challenge for 2 years which was amazing until I got load cell pedals, it then didn't have enough rigidity/it was pretty bad. Wishing you all the best with your journey!

  • Oh its back in stock. Thanks.
The prime is worth it but not sure on titan.
    Prime should have 0 sway

These aren't good for Logitech wheels afaik. Where you bolt the wheel on is flat. The Logitech is designed for a desk, so if you use it in a config like this it ends up pointing too much to the sky. You need to be able to adjust the part where the wheel bolts to. I've seen people pack the front of the wheel out to raise it up but looks terrible.

    • +1

It looks like the wheel plate can be adjusted slightly to face it downwards, but not by much. https://youtu.be/AFIEA5fctTc @ 7:17

      • An angle grinder and welder would fix it. 🙂

  • What is the usual price?

    • $529 on their website

      • +1

Not much of a discount then. Only $30 off

        • $55 with coupon

  • +3

Think I'll get this to go in front of the new 75".
The wife's going to love it!

  • I got Logitech G920 from the last deal, planning to get this cockpit. My question - what is the best Xbox or PC game you play with it? serious question, need recommendations.

    • +1

Depends which genre of racing game you're into. If you want a simulator experience maybe Assetto Corsa on PC because of the modding community that's available to completely enhance your experience. Others might suggest iRacing or Project Cars 2.

I mostly play F1 22 but I wouldn't say it's a great game since it has lots of issues still. It's just what my friends play.

      • how much is the setup for two players to play together?

    • +3

On PC, Assetto Corsa with mods

Mods improve graphics, add new vehicles, tracks, traffic, weather

    • +1

Assetto Corsa competizione is awesome. They had a few dodgy upgrades recently however it is a very well made game. I'd recommend playing on on PC if you have a choice though.

  • Nice post! I was looking at buying the Prime over the next month or so, but this deal is great timing!.
