Small Mystery Snail $5.99 + $9 Postage ($12 Express, $0 C&C) @ Sydney Aquascapes

140

Mystery snails are lovely gold snails, they can grow up to 4cm and will eat algae, dead plant matter and leftover food your shrimp or fish missed helping keep the aquarium clean. Unless your tank is massive however, you will likely have to feed them extra food. They may not get all their food just from the leftovers in the tank.

Recommended temperature range is between 20C to 26C. You usually do not need a heater for indoor tanks with them.

The ones you get will be about 1-2cm in diameter.

Feel free to ask any questions here!

Note, we have about 11 in stock this week!

    Mystery snails are lovely

Yeah, I assume they are, at least to themselves and others of their own species.

Posting sentient beings in the mail - just shows how decrepit human empathy for others has become.

Unless you are vegitarian, I can guarantee that these snails will have an increadible life (even with 2 days in the post) compared to any of the animals we eat on a regular basis. :)

      • -6

Yeah, if you think that then maybe stop eating them. Maybe after that you can recalibrate and look at your snails again differently too.

      Just a little bit aggressive.

No, we should not be cruel to animals.
Is posting a snail cruel or inhumane?

      Has their sentience been determined?
I would argue we are more empathetic towards animals now than ever before.

I would argue we are more empathetic towards animals now than ever before.

I'm sure 50billion chickens kept in filthy sheds and killed each year would disagree.

        • Oh, the old "piss and moan until zero animals are killed and we're all vegan" approach. (More politely called 'making the perfect the enemy of the good')

It's not very successful at making people sympathetic to your view.. but it is very good for the pro-meat lobby to point at and say "look at what those ivory tower maniac hippies want, aren't they ridiculous and thus we don't need to entertain their arguments".

  • Anyone want me to send them a mystery snail in a standard envelope for free? Just kidding OP, I do get it. Seems like a decent deal.

    • Yeah, if you have local breeders or friends with them, definately do go with that. Not all people have that option though, so here I am :)
Getting a free muffin from your Mom is best, but if she doesn't cook, a $3 muffin is still a pretty good deal. :)

That escalated quickly. You went with the whole smackdown of my muffin cooking Mom. 🤣😂

I just bought some snails from these guys - was suspicious of how they would be posted. The packaging was great - hard cardboard box-envelope with a dual layer insert (water with snail's on inner layer, with air on the outer layer for bump/crush protection.
Was very impressed, and thought this was a great way to package and send in the snail mail!!

Thank you! Glad you had a good experience. We do our best :)

Agree with your post, I also got mine delivered last week and all packaged well and survived the postage. Would order again.

We had a small mystery snail the other week, left it's slimy junk on the floor overnight. Eventually we found one of the buggers, then he went in the loo. There is no more mystery snail here.
