Lead Times for New Cars - Is There a Web Site?

Is there any site that has what lead times are for all models of new cars don't want to waste time calling/ going into dealers if there's no cars

So you’re just going to go with whatever is available?

    • Are you saying there is somethong wrong with that? I've driven various car brands and at the end of the day most of them are pretty much the same as each other.

More like… do they literally just need a car - any car - or what?

    • They all do the same job. To misquote Bart Simpson, the small stupid differences are nothing compared to the large stupid similarities.

Just buy a Merc or Honda, no waiting time 😉

    • Umm,not entirely correct. HRV Hybrid up to 11 month wait times now.Once the Civic Hybrid (just about here now I believe.) Once they get going there is going to be long lead times I should imagine.CRV Hybrid next year, it will also have long lead times once it gains traction. Anything Hybrid is very popular.

      • True but OP didn't specified which one he/she wants, Im not sure about Honda but with Merc, its tells you which one are available and which one are on the ship.

At least give us a clue what sort of new car you are looking at. Narrowing down your query helps build a much better answer. Want a hybrid? Long wait. Want a popular dual cab ute? Long wait. Want a small unpopular hatchback? Might get it in a few weeks.

But at this point only you know what you are looking for and our answers will be wildly variable.

  • I saw a Hyundai ad on TV last night. They must have more cars than they can sell, otherwise why would they waste their money on advertising.

    • I don’t know why Isuzu are advertising either. 12 month min wait, more on the up spec models.

      • It is probably about keeping brand recognition high and above others, particularly new entrants.

      • I put a deposit on a Dmax in June they told me around Christmas.
Was thinking back then buy 2 and sell the other for 10K more

        • Hope you get it at Christmas. Lead times for Dmax seem to vary a bit based on model. Put a deposit on an MUX in jan and were told October. As of Thursday we’re now waiting until May. The sales guy said some existing orders are wait until November, with lead time up to 2 years on MUX if ordering now

  • Go with a car broker, you can tell them what you want (or what your criteria is) and they'll look around the state at all the dealers for you to find real stock.

  • There was a story somewhere a little while back, I can't remember where, it might have been in the media, it might have been here. Someone was complaining that no-one told him that if he offered the dealer extra he could get moved up to the front of the queue.
