I pity whoever got these at RRP! Basically just some Chinese knives - they even say designed in China. If you can shell out a bit more, get globals. If you want cheap I'd probably get the victorinox or Ikea (but I'm a bit unsure of what exactly).

    • Yeah I noticed the bit about China too. They look like they have a nice shape though.

I have a mix of European and Japanese style knives. I find myself preferring the European style with the bolster and thicker top (resulting in a V shape cross section). But it’s personal preference.

I do have a steel (not stainless) knife I bought in Japan which holds its blade longer than my stainless knives. But it tends to rust a bit.

      • Those are characteristics of a carbon steel knives.

Require more care but hold an edge much longer than stainless and can get to a higher degree of sharpness, but also rust.

Oil them with Camelia oil after every use :)

Made of quality, tempered German steel for optimum hardness

Such statements instead of mentioning the actual steel used and hardness value are usually signs of the cheap low quality knives.

  • They should just state what grade of steel the blade is. No grading, no sale.
