      • +1

        :( was better before lol

    • sarcasm ? 256mb isnt that great.

      • +4

was 256GB and 512GB when posted

  • @rep:
$172 - WD 3TB Green WD30EZRX. can you confirm if this drive will park its head every 2mins or every 8secs? (hint: intellipark term)

    • Hi Mate,

I cannot confirm this, but i will lean towards 8 secs

    • You need to use a WD utility, WDIDLE3, to change the park timeout. I had to do this to a WD green 3TB drive I bought just a month ago.

      • thanks. i just bought 2 this, each $180 at sydney store no waiting time.
check wdilde3 and yes they are set at 8 secs! crazy..

  • The microserver price is quite high… they've been as low as $220 lately.

    • +2

      Indeed. Oz-Bargain- not Discount.

      • I'm happy with my N40L Microserver that I bought a couple of months ago for $180+$12 delivery! Much cheaper than this, but I have noticed prices creaping up recently.

    • Semi-interested in it but yeah the price is too high.

    • We've tried our best to keep it at the best price. If you noticed, it goes up with every of our deal. The price of these babies have gone up since and it is not under our control. Right now, this is the best price.

      • +1

You are correct rep, had a look at many computer stores that had specials on the microserver and static ice and the HP Microserver at $265 is the best price anywhere. The price is about $335 everywhere else and there are many stores that do not have stock.

When the deal was first read, it didnt look like a bargain, but it is looking like a bargain now.

        • Yeah. It does. Unfortunately. :(

It's a cruel, cruel world out there.

        • Hi guys,

Thanks for appreciating. Just keep in mind, if you buy this :

          1. You get the N40L at the best price on the market ATM, instead of a possibllity of lower in X months time by x amount.

          2. Guarantee that you are in safe hands and dealing with a legit company, saving you the trouble to contact paypal/ACCC

          3. Supporting a team of people trying their best to put customer as priority

Our contact number and email are readily accessible should any query arise - meaning you get a bargain without the risk of headaches should misfortune arise.

    • What do you mean by lately? Seems the price has been creeping up over the last 6 months

If you can see them in stock cheaper please share, I need another

    • Very interested in microserver but the price is too high now

  • That's not a bargain for the microsever Mr. ShoppingExpress!

  • the qnap interest me , although still waiting for RMA on the Seagate. Must be time to call OLC

    • take it slow. qnap is releasing new models with usb 3.0. its official

      • usb doesnt interest me that much, but thanks i didnt know that :)

        • imagine a friend come visit with 3tb external hdd.
usb2 and 3 will make big difference (no you cant borrow the hdd :)

        • Hmm okay, wish i could wait now :)

  • Why does the price of the HP Microserver N40L keep going up? Should it go the other way?

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/67831

    • I think it's OOP, but still desirable
Doesn't seem to be a direct replacement coming from HP either

That or it's all Megabuy's fault

    • HP Sets the prices.. and as our dollar has gone from $1.10US to $1US price have gone up

    • It went up a while ago, but we've kept it low enough previously with our average cost. Limited stock with limitation to 1 per customer, will keep this product for as long as it can. Hope you guys can appreciate our effort to keep it way lower than market price.

      • +1

Thank you, we do appreciate it. But it's a bit too rich for my blood now unfortunately.

  • My $29 PogoPlug is
Marvell 1.20 Ghz processor can be OCed to 1.5G
    256MB Ram
    No Hot Swap Raid 0,1, 5, 10 & 5+1
    4 x USB 2.0 ports
    Gigabit Network

    • Which one is it?

  • None of these beats the Aldi MEDION 1.5 TB NAS which I bought 2 months before for 129$ ,, If you are not in a hurry consider waiting for that simple NAS to come back on offer.

    • Actually if its the budget then connecting a 99 2tb hard drive to a router with usb would do the same.

Why does the aldi beat any of these?, they are aimed at completely different people.

      • +1

lol comparing a 1 bay nas to 4 bay ones is COMPLETELY valid…

    • My friend , I meant if you are after a simple no hassles Nas, consider waiting for that because it was well worth the money and loads of features for its price.

… then connecting a 99 2tb hard drive to a router with usb would do the same.

Not really the Aldi one has heaps of features that a hard drive on a router won't. Bit torrent, power saver, DLNA and heaps more.

they are aimed at completely different people.

Agree , Aldi one is better only if someone was on a tight budget.

lol comparing a 1 bay nas to 4 bay ones is COMPLETELY valid.

Understand, and I wanted to suggest it as an option for ppl on a budet, not everyone wants to splurge 500 $ on a 4 Bay Nas + the drives.

  • Do not buy a qnap nas, it is real bad. I bought a TS410 before, and when you fill it up, the performance start to degrade from 20mb/s to 20kb/s and finally unusable, a workaround is to delete existing files to regain speed, but what is the point of buying a NAS that I can not utilize? I bought 4 x 2TB Hdd, run it in raid 5 give me 5.5TB, and when I put more than 4T files on the NAS it won't response.

I have checked the qnap forum, and there're heaps of users suffer from the same problem, and qnap only replied once without mentioning whether or not they will or when will they get it fixed, serveral months gone now and no progress.

I want to upgrade to 4 x 3T hdd but that would be too expensive solution. I dont want to put 2 NAS at home too, so I am screwed and totally regret buying Qnap for storage solution, they sucked so bad. So as a user, I would not recomment buying a qnap product (if you insist getting qnap, pls goto their forum have a look before you buying one, complaints on qnap forum regarding to their nas is compariable the complaints on diablo 3 forum).

    • -1

Link pls or it didnt happen

        • Okay so ts-410 , these are no longer for sale. Any thoughts on the current version or are you too scarred from the last one?

        • +1

I believe they share the same firmware and suffer the same problem, not a 100% sure but why risk urself to try? Newer version will get discontinued too, and from what I see how they treat their customer, a big NO!

    • Buy one of these instead, I'm very happy with mine. It's made in Japan & comes with 3 years warranty.
      http://www.ht.com.au/part/Y9054-Buffalo-LinkStation-Quad-NAS…

      • they are japanese company but are you sure made in japan not china? :)
if you really fans of buffalo go to smaller shops at capital square (sydney) im sure they can bet HT price

  • +1

I need the N40L but 275 shipped is quite high compared before. due to public demand, can you lower the price at least similar to the last deal.

Want a cheap 2 drive NAS for $118, buy this Buffalo NAS from HT and avoid this massive failure sale from ShoppingSquare.

    http://www.ht.com.au/part/Y5729-Buffalo-LinkStation-Pro-Duo-…

    • +2

Shopping Express is completely different to Shopping Square you nub

      • +1

Typo :-) but my comment still stays

        • +2

Why dont you post it, instead of making yourself look like a douche

        • Completely different capabilities. There's a nasty Netgear Stora that turns up for $70, doesn't mean it's as good as a Microserver or Qnap.

        • I agree different capabilities if you want to run WHS and customize it on the microserver. But if you just want simple to use NAS then 2 drive Buffalo has decent feature set for the price like gigabit ethernet, USB port for additional HDD, iOS app, DLNA support, RAID 0/1. Otherwise just wait for the price to drop (if it does at all) for the microserver.

  • With many adopting the cloud would have thought NAS has become obsolete.

    • this is cloud, although cloud you own and dont have limitations.

    • Get off my cloud - Jagger 1965

  • NAS not just for backup also for streaming and downloading also (good one) web server and camera survl.

Try streaming 1080p movie from dropbox?
    Unless we have nbn…

  • Would anyone use the HP device as a NAS/media centre box open in their main lounge room. I'm up for buying either a new PS3 as a DLNA client to hook back to my PC OR one of these to become the media server AND play movies etc on the tele. I am just not sure about noise etc of it being in the main room.

Can anyone compare a PS3 and N40L for noise levels?

    • I have both and the N40L is way louder than the PS3. The PS3 is very quiet. The N40L I would consider a bit too loud for the loungeroom but that's just my opinion. I have bought a silent PicoPSU to put in mine so I will see how much difference that makes when I install it. I bought the PicoPSU mainly to reduce power use as mine uses more power than I expected from my preliminary research before buying the N40L

I am connecting to the NBN soon and want a NAS for file sharing solutions. Anyone have any suggestions on compatibility with super fast interwebs?

I am a newb so anything will help.

Basically the plan is as follow. NBN connects to wireless modem router in study (unsure of which router atm). Cat6 cable connecting living room tv and theatre tv/ps3 to wireless modem router.

Not actually sure if I need a modem router for NBN.

    :(

    • Can I use my existing equipment/modem over the NBN?

      Modems and gateways
If you are switching over to the NBN from an ADSL service, which is what most people have today, then your DSL modem may not work because you will need a different gateway with an Ethernet port on the internet side (often marked “WAN”). Your service provider may include an NBN-compatible home gateway as part of their service offer.

In general, broadband gateways (modems, routers and access points) can be used if they have an Ethernet port for the internet side. Seek advice from your service provider if you aren’t sure.

If you do want to buy your own home gateway, they can be purchased for as low as around $35. Recent advances in WiFi technology provide signals which should be adequate for many broadband services. Look for ‘wireless N’ when shopping for a new wireless gateway. ‘Wireless N’, or 802.11n, refers to a standard of high-speed WiFi that is capable of delivering the range and capacity needed for high bandwidth applications.

  • Ok question, genuinely keen to grab one of these ASAP.

However, if I purchase and pay for it tonight, will it be shipped out tomorrow so I receive it on Friday?

    Cheers!

    • +1

We have them in stock & the earliest we can dispatch is tomorrow (highly recommend you made order today). Will it reach you by friday? This is not within our control so i cannot promise you that.

      • Is it shipped via courier? If so, who do you use and where are you guys based? Usually i'm in a next day zone, just depends when you could dispatch it tomorrow is all.

edit: Just read site, Alexandria sydney? If so, would be amazed if it took more than a day to make it to Newcastle :p

        • We can dispatch by tomorrow, courier carrier: Australia Post.

        • Awesome will place an order.

One last question, unrelated but maybe you somehow know, what hard drives are inside western digital mybook essential usb 3.0s? Can't seem to find it anywhere.

Want to buy two more 2TB drives to go with it, but not sure if they're green, normal, or something all together different and can't find it anywhere? :(

Thanks for fast help mate, great service! :)

Will also pick up some ram and a little 6450 going off reviews people have given for it as a HTPC as well as file server…

        • So I cracked it and just opened the drive. For anyone else wondering, it's their green drive, the WD20EARX :)

        • can you run wdidle3.exe /r tool and see how many seconds idle time drive got?
google it you'll find the issue.
i just bought internal WD30EZRX and default is 8sec

  • edit: Ignore. Posted in wrong bit.

  • Attn: ShoppingExpress

I ordered one last night and still no update from your side.
Wondering when you will POST it my way, my postcode 3030.

    • +1

We update when the product has been dispatched.
      Estimate dispatch time: Today

  • I ordered 26/6/2012 and no movement - guess it will not be here this week

    • All N40L orders before 28-6-12 should be dispatched by today.

      • Ordered 26/6/2012 still showing as processing !

        • +1

Please private message your order number. You might have ordered something else holding the order up.

        • Thanks for your interest - message sent

Ordered memory and hard disk in addition so that is probably cause

Just hope it does not turn up late next week when I am in Melbourne

  • Also ordered an N40L and a few other bits and pieces(and paid via PayPal) on the 26th and my order still says processing - I assume this is probably because the estimated dispatch time for the N40L was 3-5 days (probably because they're dropshipping them). Be nice if it did sneak in before the weekend, but I'd say it's unlikely

    • +1

Yup - good in noticing that. Stock arrived at our warehouse yesterday and we've manage to dispatch some. The rest will be today. We did not wish to delay our NAS Sale launch date due to the slight delay in timing of the HP servers arriving at our warehouse, therefore it was put as 3-5 working days on 26-6-12. You will probably notice the estimated dispatch time has changed to 1-2 working day as of today.

      • Cheers rep. Just a question, I also ordered a HDD enclosure that had a 3-5 day dispatch date will this mean I run this risk of losing my N40L ie is my N40L 'reserved' now that I've paid for it or when the enclosure comes in if you've run out of stock of the N40L's do I miss out?

        • This is not supposed to happen. However, if you ever meet this issue due to our WRONG stock allocation in the scenario you mentioend (as once order already paid and the stock should be reserved for you), you should get some arrangement from our end to resolve it.

  • +1

Ordered Thursday morning in a rush, was sent same day. IS in the truck with Auspost right now for delivery, AND answered all my frantic messages.

Can't ask for much more, great service guys.

Can't wait to finish work and pick it up! :D

  • +1

Just ordered with 8gb kit - thanks rep.
