  • Looks like it's in-store only? Still listed at $495 online. Kinda moot though, since I have no need for two tablets.

    • It seems that it is valid online as well. Using the link below; I added one to the cart and the deal automatically applied.

    • Sorry about that. I was a little late on updating the information on the site. Everything is fixed up now!

      • +2

Were you supposed to make the deal available today?
According to the PDF flyer the sale starts on the 29th.

I called into the Sunshine store this morning and the guy who took my call assured me that I could purchase the tablets today as they were available for order on your website at the time. So I put a hold on the items, provided my name and contact details, and told him I'll be in today.

When I got into store the salesman I spoke with gave me a different response. He said I wasn't able to get the tablets until tomorrow. I explained that I called in earlier but that didn't seem to matter to him and I had to come back tomorrow.

The salesman said he would set aside two units for me but I'm not even sure if he has because he didn't take any details down.

Sorry for all the ranting but I ended up wasting a lot of my time today during work hours so I have to stay back at work.

        P.S.
The customer service from the Sunshine branch is a little inconsistent. I know that one of my work colleagues was able to pick up the tablets today. An in-store order was made in the morning and it was collected later this afternoon. I would have been appreciated a phone call to explain that I was not able to buy the tablets today.

    • The online deal has sold-out, see below

  • sounds not bad, but what is the model number for the thinkpad tablet?
    P.S., just found it: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/183823m-free-lenovo-thin…

  • +5

Guess bare in mind the Google Nexus is coming.

    • past tense - available now pre-order

      • +1

Pre-ordering doesn't mean its here. Still coming.

        • +1

          Centrecom web page shows 183823M.

  • +2

    Lenovo 183822U

    • +2

      Thanks, mate!
Will update this in the description.

      • +1

        Mine says 183823M.

  • Im assuming this isnt a 3g model?

    • +1

check thinkpad forum. 3g can be enabled by installing wwan card.

  • that's a pretty decent price for a Tegra 2 10" tab aint it? $200 each? just flog one off on ebay?

Sure the Google NExus has Tegra 3, but @ $249 + shipping you are only getting 8gb storage with NO mSD slot?

    • +2

If only life were that simple.
Wanna take a $200 chance with shipping damage/PayPal screw-over? Plus overpriced Ebay fees.
      Not me…

      • +1

Well there's plenty of over places to flog it. Ebay's just an example. But the question remains - is it good value for $200 assuming you flog the other one off for $200?

        • +1

If you can upgrade to ICS - then yes. Else, no.

        • -1

Sure, I guess if you can make a deal with someone you trust and physically hand it over.
Devices like this are too delicate to trust to Aussie post if you are carrying all the expense IMO. Just to many scammers out there in Ebay-land and PayPal will always favor the buyer no matter how dodgy they are.
Most of us find out the hard way sooner or later ;(

        • +1

          Well I just got 1 (2?). $200 for a 10" Tegra 2 tablet is pretty good value…

Anyone in Melb interested in one feel free to contact me…other wise its going to Ebay/OCAU/gumtree…

        • +1

Read that back and realize I might have come over a bit negative!
Yes for $200 those specs are great but please bear in mind I think we are going to see a stabilization of the tablet prices @ $200- $250 due in no small part to the Nexus. Much like Netbooks a few years back.
So good specs but prices are changing right now and will probably be repeated again with other run-out deals.

        • +1

Agreed, tech stuff and pricing is always on the change. Today's bargain will be tomorrow's non-bargain? haha…

TBH even though GN has newer tech (Tegra 3), I'd be happy to give up some processing power for more/expendable storage, and in this case, more real estate.

        • +1

Why are people comparing this to the Nexus - it's a 7"er if I'm not mistaken?

        • +1

Not a direct comparison, it was cited as an example of the shift in price range.
For example the $400+ people were paying for the 7.7 Samsung Tab wifi last week suddenly seems far too much.

        • because that's the closest tab to comparision at this pricepoint?

        • Hi, I'm interested in other one. Let me know if your offer still stands? Thanks

          Sid

        • Perhaps, catch up in the city.. cash on pick-up?

          Sid

        • Contacted you! :)

        • sent u a message

        • @ironpaw
No, the comparison was to show Nexus 7 Tab - just released @$199 vs Samsung Galaxy 7.7 wifi as an example of recent price shift, in the general sense.

The ThinkPad is reasonably similar to the HP Touchpad, specs wise.

        • sounds good to me!

  • shipping to WA is $99, WTF?

    • I've adjusted the shipping cost for postcode 6000 to $49.5.

  • Is this the same as the one Shopping Express was doing the other day? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/73177

    • Yup.
That one included the original ThinkPad Tablet Pen (Digitizer pen)

      • +2

I opened up one yesterday, it also includes the tablet pen.

        • Thanks

Just ordered! One for work, one for home, sweet!

        • Hi Rep, possible to pick one(2) up today at sunshine?

  • Just got back from the Frankston store. They are taking pre-orders with stock expected to arrive tomorrow or Saturday.

    • Spoke with the Clayton superstore and they aren't taking pre-orders. Walk in only orders starting tomorrow.

I just bought mine offline…$8ish metro shipping for 2 tabs is pretty reasonable.

  • Just got one(2). Anyone in Sydney/Penrith interested?

    • Could be, any chance of meeting in CBD?

      • CBD Penrith or CBD Sydney?
Yes I can but weekend only.

        • How much was postage? Can we meet in the Hills district?

        • $19.80 + $8.38 ((2% paypal surcharge)

        • I'll take one off your hands.
          Just sent you a message.

        • Cheers. I'll be in contact when I receive the tablet.

        • Thank you!

  • That was quick! It seems we've now sold out on our online units. We have some more for our warehouse sale but unfortunately that stock is not available for online purchase. I hope everyone enjoys their new tablet(s).

  • By the two pictures on the PDF, you guys have a very neat warehouse!

    • I think that's their showroom floor. (There are price tags on the pallets)

      It is tidy though

  • Sold out?
    http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/183823m-free-lenovo-thin…

yes.. gone! Missed it again! ahaha

  • Paypal surcharge and shipping to brisbane is nearly $30. So each $215 is still acceptable for this case.

    • Is it still available online?

      • no, it's not. I got it before and just checking out the total cost.

        • Ahh ok. You don't need two, do you? ;)

        • if you're in brisbane you can have it one just split the cost.

        • Sent you a message!

        • +1

…and a big thumbs-down to the OZB'er who msged sonic and bought it before i PMed him, within 7 mins of him posting.

        • Doesn't that sh!t you…

        • Yes!! Grrrrr. But thanks to sonic2011 anyway, for offering it in the first place and not brodening it!

  • looks like they have sold out of their online stock, going by their web site.

any more stock coming in guys? will you be offering this same deal again?

  • Oh well least I still have my $99 touchpad.

  • +1

    sold out…called clayton superstore

  • Just in time ICS update is rolling out. http://blog.lenovo.com/news/

  • Centrecom are starting to make MSY look like they have completely lost the plot. Where did all the MSY Lenovo specials from a while back go? Centrecom seem to have got the best Lenovo etc deals now.

  • Rep, so how can we score more with the warehouse sale?

    • Wait for shopping express to beat this deal.

      • Yeah, but will they? They're back on SE's site at $299 each.

  • +1

I called the Sunshine store this morning to ask them to hold the tablets for me and was told to come in today(planned to come in tomorrow but the sales rep insisted I come today). Upon arriving at the Sunshine branch they told me the tablets were not available till tomorrow. Big waste of time as I had to take a longer lunch break and now have to stay back for nothing!

A nice salesman told me he would hold two for me but I have to pick them up tomorrow. Will have to try again but this deal is really frustrating me.

    • Turns out the nice salesman was not so nice.
      More like a BS artist

  • If anyone wants to sell one in Melbourne, let me know.

  • Digital pen input? That would be nice. I'd like to get this over the Nexus 7. Alas, out of stock.

  • the sale starts tomorrow at the warehouses

    called and confirmed with centrecomm
    - wifi only model
    - no GPS.
    - only micro USB port - they're not sure if OTG USB host mode will work.

Google news states that ICS is already out in the US and may be here in a few days

    • The specs on the page says it has Assisted GPS.

  • +1

        Yup…pretty much lol

        • -1

          facepalming at your name too.

    • i am wiling to sell…PM me

  • I'm in Sydney looking for one too ^_^.

    Name your price mates.

  • +1

What are those dimensions in Australian?

  • Can I connect this to a TV with a micro HDMI to HDMI cable? Or do I need the USB powered HDMI converter thingy?

    • No problem, just use one cable.

    • Yep an HDMI-mini to HDMI cable (or an adapter to use with a regular HDMI cable) will work fine.

The "USB powered HDMI converter thingy" you mentioned is an MHL cable which is not supported by this tablet (not that it really matters, as you can just output video and audio as above).

  • I missed out. Anyone in Melbourne looking to flog theirs, please PM me. Can meet around the CBD or I could pick up.

    • -2
