US trades are free right? Pretty much $50 (grey-market resell value) worth of points for the cost of whatever the currency conversion is.. that's pretty damn good

    • From T's and C's

      Definitions
‘Eligible Trades’ means buy or sell trades executed in the Bonus Offer Period where full brokerage of $5 is charged (Australian shares and ETF trades). $0 brokerage trades and free trades are excluded.

      • +6

"Eligible Trades" as a term is only included in Bonus Offer 1 (Individual Accounts – Australian Share Trades). US trades are fee free

    • +2

Minimum currency conversion is $100, with a 0.7% fee. So expect to pay around $1.40 in fees.

      Worth it for me.

      • So $1.40 in currency conversion fees and $5 brokerage? That is all you are up for?

What about when selling the stock and withdrawing?

        • +8

It’s free brokerage on US stocks, so I did the following:
          1. Deposit $100 AUD into SuperHero account
          2. Transfer $100AUD to USD
          3. Bought USD$10 of Apple shares (fractional shares ARE allowed)
          4. Sold Apple shares for USD$9.93
          5. Transferred entire USD balance back to AUD
          6. Withdrew AUS$97.58 into my bank account.

Total of 5013 QFF points for $2.42

          • @Tom088: You are the best. Thanks for those steps.

Have you already received the points?

            • @JHoliday: Not in my Qantas account yet but showing under the transaction details in Superhero

              • @Tom088: Sorry which section do you see the Qantas points you have earned?

                • @JHoliday: @JHoliday Activity tab, then click on the drop-down arrow labelled "More" and the associated Qantas Points will show up

          • +2

@Tom088: followed your steps and just received my points today, thanks ;)

  • Yeah I got this email too but I’ve already made a US trade. Not sure if it’s targeted or everyone received the email?

does the referal bonus of US$10 Tesla stock and 1000 Qantas points on signup stack or is it either?

The referral bonus stacks. I received all the points followed by the US$10 of TSLA a few days later.

  • Thanks for sharing op looks like they operate in chess sponsored markets too so guess this will be my first shot into investment haha

  • Will try to claim the offer and report back

    Thanks for the heads up!

    • +1

      Posted today
      1.5 days after the trade

      • and how long was it when you got the points to when you got your money back etc?

  • I saw this, thanks to those who read the terms and summarised fees and conversion cost above, no brainer for me.

Need to find a US stock to do a quick buy/sell … Is GameStop still having fun haha

    • Thought US stocks are excluded? Need to buy Aussie?

      • Oh not sure, I just read US trade. Need to read further it seems

        • It was posted above that US trades are fee free, whereas I thought you needed to pay $5 brokerage to be eligible?

  • So you only need to deposit AU$100 and buy stock worth AU$10? So can buy like $10 Rio Tinto and be eligible and withdraw the remainder back to account after points received?

    • +1

Think it's whole shares only so you'll need to find a cheaper stock

      • Mmm on the hunt for some lithium/gas stock then

        Invictus Energy possibly

        • +1

You'll only own the stock for 30 seconds, get some dirty coal and enjoy yourself for once 😉

    • Click on the OPs link. 5000 points is only for first US trade

  • +3

ah…. already done my first US trade last month, missed the 5000 QF points offer :(
But was able to get 10 x 1000 QF points using 5 buys + 5 sells
received the QF points in 3 business days

  • +1

thanks OP, was able to make $2usd in a few hours plus 5000 QFF…better than Sportbet…lol

  • 16,000 Qantas Points for under $55. That's tremendous value.

    • How do you get 16,000 qantas pts

      • +5

1000 points for adding your QFF number
5000 points for buying an US share
10000 points for 10 buy / sell orders of an ASX share

        • So you can stack multiple offers?

          • +4

@JHoliday: The point aren't in my QFF account yet but I received notifications from Superhero telling me that I have earnt the full 16,000 points and the activity page shows the bonus points next to each trade. I will update when the points arrive.

    • Did you do market order trades? Mine seem to get stuck in pending.

      • +4

Market order on CBA shares since they’re just over the $100 threshold. Bought and sold one share five times and all went through instantly. For the US trade you’ll have to wait until the market opens.

        • Oh that makes complete sense. Thanks!

  • +1

Did anyone try stack the referral bonus?

    • +1

Happy to confirm that the referral bonus stacks. I just received my US$10 of TSLA.

      • So just to confirm, you signed up via a referral link, and not via the https://www.superhero.com.au/qantas/ link and still received 1000 points for linking Qantas and another 5000 for first trade?

        • +2

Correct, I used one of the OzBargain random referral links. I also received 10,000 pts for the ten Australian trades so 16,000 total. Points arrived within two days and the TSLA a few days after that. I've also received additional TSLA for referring others during that time who also received the points and TSLA.

          • @VantageXL: With the Australian trades what's the minimum amount? Also can you just buy/sell the stock instantly or do you have to hold it for a while? Thinking of buying/selling the same stock instantly not sure if that will work.

            • @ClintonL: A$100 minimum for ASX trades and you can buy and sell immediately. I bought one share of CBA, sold it and then repeated that process an additional four more times.

              • @VantageXL: Thanks for the reply so with the 10 Australian trades will cost $50 in brokerage correct so will need 150 in the account?

                • @ClintonL: You'll need a bit more than $150 (I deposited $200 for example) but yes, the total cost of the ten trades will be about $50 or so (you'll likely lose a few cents on top of the brokerage fees by buying and selling so quickly).

  • Boom, just made 20 US cents on Gamestop.
    Pro trader here

Edit: damn, lost $3 Aussie overall on exchange.
    That was fun

  • Is superhero better than selfwealth in general? Chess sponsored too?

Also, any better options for US trading, outside this offer?

    • Not chess sponsored, but it doesnt really matter.

  • Any of these aforementioned offers need to be activated on the account?

    • No. Just link your QFF account and start earning points.

  • How long does it take to get stock? I tried buying $20 USD of tesla/apple at market price but it just says pending?

    • It’s based on the US market so when it opens the trade will be executed. Not sure what time sorry!!

  • Is anyone concerned that Superhero might get into trouble due to the merger with Swyftx? Swyftx has been laying off a lot of staff recently (latest round is 40%!) and given the domino effects of the FTX fallout, its not unthinkable that Swyftx may be going under in the near future. If that happens, what does mean for Superhero account holders especially given that its not CHESS sponsored?

  • Superhero have the best Superannuation setup in town. I rate them highly for that offering alone.

    • Oh really when I compared their fees against UniSuper they were super (excuse the pun) expensive.

      • 0.55 to 0.66 % range for Unisuper products. 0.49% for Superhero

        Not including admin fees.

        • Yeah I’m talking about all the fees. How much are the admin fees for Superhero?

          • @bobwokeup: $52 or $108 annual admin fee. Depends on the account type you choose.

The whole point of it, is the amount of control it gives over your own investments. They've since added an autopilot setup, which makes sense for those who aren't into purchasing ETF products themselves.

            • @Oofy Doofy: Yeah I’ve badly miscalculated and this is why I don’t change super haha

Oh the UniSuper feespage it says 0.4% + 0.08% so very similar or am I missing something?

              • @bobwokeup: There are % fees on balance, set admin fees and indirect % fees. You add them all up and you get your result.

Much of a muchness between a lot of them. Plenty of good super fee breakdown sites.

                • @Oofy Doofy: Ah okay yeah the indirect ones have always confused me.

Cheers I’ll have to have a look.

  • +1

Can confirm this works. Lost < $3 in the process but gained 5013 QFF points in 2 days (13 points came from exchanging AUD to USD).

Don't forget this stacks with 1000 bonus points when linking your QFF accounts + up to 10k points on 10 AU Trades

    • Can someone make a post please of how to do this, for dummies like me :(. Would love to get these 15k points (already got the 1k last month from creating a Superhero account )

    • Haha are you the Points Guru page on Facebook, I think I replied to your post mate

      • +1
