$175 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi - Expired

Before anyone asks, this is not the Play Gradient lightstrip, designed for mounting at the back of your telly to sync with the TV picture colours. It's the regular lightstrip for putting on shelves, pelmets, under counters, etc.

It is easily the lowest price it has ever been here, except for what seems one day in september when it seems there was a one day deal for $5 less that everyone missed.

Of interest, the UK version of this has been available via Amazon AU for a while now for about this same price, but it doesn't come with an AU pin adaptor for the power pack, so you needed to get one of those enormous plug converters. But just as the local product drops in price to match it, the UK product drops even further to $156 (https://www.amazon.com.au/Philips-Gradient-Lightstrip-Compat…). So if the plug issue doesn't bother you, you can get it even cheaper plus it qualifies for free Prime international shipping.

Will it be cheaper again on Black Friday? Who knows. But you could always just keep it unopened until then, and if it gets offered cheaper, utilise either Amazon or JB's return policy to get it for the lower price.

    $175 for 2m of lightstrip?
    Thats wild.

Not even close to backing even a small tv. The TV ones are $300+

      • $299.95 for the 65" during BF last year.

  • You can make your own Hue compatible lightstrips with a Gledopto controller and a lightstrip. Probably about $70 for a 5m strip from memory, once you include a power supply.

The Gledoptos don't do gradients (not yet, at least, maybe it will happen one day) and can't be included as part of an entertainment scene in the Hue app.

Also add in the cost of diffuser channel, which is built into the Hue strip.

Not saying the Gledoptos aren't a viable solution for long single-colour runs, I have a few set up around the place such as underneath the bed for glow effects. But the Hue has its place for a fuss-free plug-and-play application.

  • Aren’t you better off buying 2x 1m at $74 and connecting them together and save $27

  • Costs more than my TV.

did you get it from Cash converters ? +

  • I love Hue devices, i want to see what the Prices are Black Friday and Cyber Monday

  • These do seem to be wildly more expensive than cheap brands. Ikea ones are like…. $30 or so. Any real reason to go the Philips Hue? Any real world usage or reviews?

    • Not sure what $30 IKEA 2m strip lighting you’re talking about? 2m worth of IKEA MITTLED is double the price of Philips. It’s also more work to install.

  • The non-gradient ones are a lot cheaper and still change colour, just one colour at a time ;)

    Now $139.95

    • Yeah, that was always the question, would it go further on BF. Return and re-buy time if you already bought.
