Legend thank you, been refreshing everyday for this PSU to go on sale. Most premium SFX PSU you can get

    • I am looking to build a PC with high end specs. New to all this. Would this be suitable?

      • +5

        This is for SFF builds.
It'll work in a bigger PC but i'd advise against it.
You can get similar or better performing PSUs for cheaper if you're not constrained by tiny case space.

There is a price premium on this one being SFX - meaning small form factor. If youre building in a regular size case, or even a mid-tower, you can pay less than this and get something just as good.

If you're building high-end small form factor and you don't have the absolute maximum spec hardware then this will be suitable.

Maximum spec hardware will likely need more than 750W - find the max TDP of your CPU + GPU and multiply it by 1.5 and go for that wattage.

Thanks both, will keep looking then. I don’t have any form factor in mind. Just whatever works better, effective and reasonable cost.

          • +2

@Pricebeat: Don't go for small form factor for reasonable cost - any other form factor will be cheaper, ATX or micro ATX being the other mainstream ones.

I just want my PC to be semi portable and not take up much space, thats all

Ya, ITX motherboards are stupidly expensive at the moment, especially for latest generation hardware.

  • Got the SF450 plat, is good, worth it over the gold

  • yikes just realised the psu i bought is the lowest possible 80+ certification (white) lmao. shouldn't have been so stinge. Umart returns policy is garbarge, im stuck with it.

    • +1

80+ is just about efficiency, not quality. These things are correlated, but one doesn't assure the other. If yours is a good brand, good warranty etc, rated well in online tests. You'll be fine.

    • I happened to see this video on the topic.

      TLDW:

      • 80 plus can be gamed
      • Doesn't give a complete picture
      • You should still look for reviews and teardowns
  • I have one but sadly I am giving up on ITX builds for the constrains mainly due to only 1 pcie slot and 40 series cards are huge. I just hate I can’t add 10gbe card and thunderbolt card freely, I pay extra and saving what, a little space?

    • +1

ITX is basically about saving space at the expense of expandability. There are generally only two ram slots, one me on many boards.

ITX builds can be fun and the saved space is well worth it but that is obviously dependent on your computing needs.

  • Premium PSU in 2022… and they're still using a rifle bearing. Hmm.

    • It’s incredibly silent, and perfectly tuned to the point that fan swapping to a noctua has no benefits

  • Damn bought from scorptec for 240 two days ago, hasn't even arrived.

Do you think they'd refund the difference 😂

  • I got one of these powering a 5950x & 4090 just fine.
