Fitbit Charge 5 Black/Steel Blue/Lunar White $165 (Was $265) + Delivery ($0 C&C/In-Store) @ The Good Guys

80

Seems to be part of the black Friday deals they've unlocked early. Usual price is $265, but $165 seems to be a discount price that pops up regularly. I had this tagged on price hipster since my old Fitbit has hit 4 years and going strong but was feeling like getting something with GPS on it.
Includes 6 months Fitbit Premium.

Maybe you can price beat at Office Works if it's worth your while. Also can be had at JB for $169 for the same range of colours - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/fitbit-charge-5-black-gra…

Edit: a word.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2022

OP, I have been repeating this comment here a few times, but be mindful that (until recently at least), a fitbit does not use its GPS to determine distance or speed. For running at least, it uses estimated stride length (based on your body metrics) and step count to come up with a wildly inaccurate distance/speed. Yes, it collects the GPS location so that it can show a nice line on the map, but it does not use those locations to accurately calculate distance/speed.

I had to forensically investigate this issue, exporting my data and concluding that the distance between the GPS points did not add up to the distance it said I ran. I returned a Fitbit Charge 4 for this reason. Shame, because it was the perfect compact GPS-enabled smartwatch with contactless payment.

    • Interesting. Thanks for pointing this out.
DOes anyone know if Galaxy Watches or Movbui are any better?

    • I believe that the Charge range got real, inbuilt GPS from the Charge 4.

Personally, I would have gladly gone without it and gotten a slightly less bulky device. Leaving the onboard GPS active on my Charge 4 is the difference between charging three time a week with moderate use, vs weekly using the phone GPS.

Sorry, I have zero interest in any wearable that I have to remember to take off and charge that often to be useful.

      • Agree about battery life.

Yes, the Charge 4 has a real GPS. But doesn't use it to determine how far or how fast you ran. It collects the data, and uses it only to draw the graphic on the map. It is idiotic.

  • Uh did anyone else get a pop-up for an additional $10? Here's what it said —-
