I’ve never understood dedicated white noise machines.

We just use a google nest mini, or a phone/tablet in a pinch.

    Am I missing something?

    • I agree with you mostly but I presume these don't need internet so probably easier than setting up a google nest if you're going on holiday, for example.

      • And yes, no Wifi needed

Press one button and done…. But each to their own. A phone can do lots of things

Not sure about adult use but for kids my google devices seem to loose connection 3-5 times a week.

We usually use google home for my two kids to play generic white noise, but when it looses net it OBNOXIOUSLY announces at max volume something like SORRY, NO ACCESS TO INTERNET RIGHT NOW TRY AGAIN LATER. This wakes my kids who are already terrible sleepers up and it’s REALLY annoying to get them settled if they are woken like that.

I have two of the dream eggs and although they are expensive, can use it anywhere and yea no internet dependency.

Yep. Google Home devices are trash. Ours just sit in the cupboard. I should really sell the pieces of shit.

      • Different experience to me. Used google nest for the past 2 years for my kids and it’s been near flawless. Might be to do with wifi reception at your house?

        • Nothing else seems affected - just the google displays and minis and the Lenovo smart display seems to have the most connectivity issues.

          Chromecasts no issues

    • No need to deal with ads, reduce screen time, tactile buttons vs touchscreen or voice command, no need for internet, no system update and no spying

It's working wonders for my kid when sleep training

  • Does anyone have feedback on if this has an obvious loop?

    • +1

Just keeps going in my experience, I usually have it on for background noise when working etc. Find it helps me concentrate.
A good product that does what it says, a little on the pricey side but it is what it is

      • Thanks, glad to hear 😀

Coles had a Saba white noise machine for $19.99 but quickly on half price.

This black one on “special” looks pretty similar so I would stay away as if Coles could sell one for $20 and make a profit surely paying more than double isn’t a deal.

But the coles one has expired. So if people desperate they have no choice
