+2 votesThe OCZ Vertex 4 128GB using 4-core for $152 will smash this in write, BUT the Samsung 3-core will smash the Vertex 4 on read <256KB-2GB…., crazy to pick between the two… LOOOL
The Vertex 4 has a 5 year warranty, the Samsung 3 years…
Vertex 4 uses a Indilinx Everest 2 MLC
Samsung uses the Samsung MLC2 things to take note, the Vertex 4 is Incredibly fast, but early days…, the Samsung 830 are very highly spoken of in terms of stability are reliability…
+1 voteI have a vertex 4 and am very happy, its the best SSD I have owned. Speeds are batnut crazy, i get like 14 second boots and the second the desktop is up i can open any application in less then 2 seconds. iTunes use to lag to open for me, some where around 10 seconds, now its open before I depress my finger from my mouse.
+9 votesBetter according to anadtech -> http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/425?vs=533
scubacoles on 02/07/2012 - 15:30 ¶pretty sure the Samsung 830 was the SSD of the year for 2011 for one of the sites (Anandtech maybe)

not really for that freight charge.. The box is pretty big if i dont pop the sides and flat pack it..
http://www.thatsitguys.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Samsun...I can ship it in original for more freight, otherwise i will double check on wednesday what else i can do.
+1 voteBecause Samsung uses their own controller
Other brands use Sand Force controller which is faster but has stability issues. The Sand Force controller stability problem has improved a lot
YET, Samsung and Intel SSD with their own controller happen to be the most stable onesOCZ brands often fail because they use Sand Force controller with OCZ firmware
I use Intel 520 128GB SSD with SF controller but they use their own firmware to control the controller.
They also provide 5 year warranty on it
-1 voteYou can get less than $1 per GB if you look around for brands like Sandisk and Crucial. Even OCZ have had sales. I think $89 recently at Centrecom for 128GB.
By the way, I'm pretty sure that charging a surcharge for using Paypal is against Paypal's terms and conditions.
Paypal buyers, please use the following link ($4 Surcharge)
Using that link you are charging $142 by Paypal instead of $128. That's more than a $4 mark up. Calling it a handling fee instead of a surcharge to get around Paypal's T&C is kind of dubious IMO.

-1 voteAs I said, they are the same as Crucial M4. Among the top in reliability.
Speed differences are negligible in real world usage. The only time you'll feel the difference is in benchmarks. Reliability is the most important.
I personally don't see this is that big a bargain.
+1 voteTitle just got updated as you typed this.
You can now purchase through the online shop for paypal, but you will still be charged the extra $4. Its called a paypal capture. After you have gone through the checkout i can go into paypal and change the total to 132 to cover the fees.
Mister Bung on 02/07/2012 - 17:14 ¶Here's a review for those interested, they mention there's some issues with write times but this is negligible compared to standard HDs:

+5 votesWe're past there. Do a search on OZB for Crucial M4. You'll find the $1 per GB barrier has been broken by quite a margin before and quite regularly at that.
Also Sandisk Extremes.
I'm just surprised that so many people weren't aware of those frequent deals and saw this as the biggest bargain per GB ever seen.
+3 votesalwayseric on 02/07/2012 - 20:06 ¶at last, someone said something rational. same here, i also wonder why people went crazy about this deal.

1) Surely the quality and brand of the product on offer has a bearing, or maybe not for you ?
2) Most of those deals for quality brands have been from Amazon, not with local warranty.
+1 voteThe brands that have been cheaper are quality brands. Cheaper =/= worse. The Samsung is not the #1 most recommended SSD brand by savvy people or even in the top 3.
That is true, however if you don't live in NSW where Phaser Computer is, I don't see it being a whole lot better. Buying online always makes warranty a bit more complicated, no matter where you got it from. At least Amazon is a giant, trusted and world recognized brand. Their warranty procedures are also really good. I had a friend RMA a Crucial M4. They paid his return shipping and gave him a brand new unit, even though it was 6 months old. I doubt Phaser will do that for you.
There are plenty of local PC shops that do a bad job with RMA. They either take forever, or they say there's no problem with it. Local warranty isn't always what it's cracked up to be. The reputation of the merchant is more important when it comes to warranty, and the bigger guys having more at stake are usually less dodgy.

snappy1234 on 03/07/2012 - 11:54 ¶why change price in title…makes it hard to search for past deals (just mark expired)
…also no longer $1gbthat is all.

Does it have Australian warranty? Or grey import?
