I am assuming that you have seen this right?

    https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_7_8gb…

Also, a big part of the Kindle Fire is the Amazon Prime and associated contents which is not available in Australia. In fact can you even download from the Amazon Appstore if you are in Australia?

    • You sure can't easily use the Amazon app store in Australia after their updates a few months back. You need to use m4D h4X to get it to work now.

I think the big part is that the Nexus 7 is just better(yes it costs bit more, but this is refurbished).

      • Well yeah. I thought that point was obvious, which is why I didn't address it ;)
edit: oh wait, you were replying to him, not me. But my point still stands!

If we were in the states, then I think the Nexus 7 vs Kindle Fire is still a neck to neck race. Amazon Prime and associated services is still a huge plus for the Fire, FSSS does get annoying after a while, so the two day shipping is definitely a plus. However, strip away essentially all Amazon related services, you just got a fairly basic tablet especially considering that you probably can't access the appstore, and I am pretty sure you don't have access to the Play store either. The Fire is a really gimped tablet in Australia.

Estimated shipping is less then 2 weeks.

How much is a US proxy? Have you factored it in? Also remember you are offering a refurb device v.s. a new device. Finally, are you sure that the Fire can access the Play store? I thought it was limited to Amazon's app store?

      • +2

Prime streaming video is usable (with a vpn), but you can't use the app store without a US credit card, making the fire significantly less useful.

      • +1

Amazon app store requires US credit card, and VPN/proxy. Google Play store is not installed on the Kindle Fire due to amazon wanting you to use their store, and cannot be installed without hacks.

      • Put the whole Nexus aside. Refurbished=$214.95 vs New=$199 is so not a bargain. I know you need to add shipping, but use comGateway as example, shipping should no more than $47 (last time I shipped a 2.5kg package for $47, and this is far from 2.5kg).
        So $214.95 vs $246

      • This would have been a bargain half a year ago. Now? Make it 120, 150 max and some people might bite.

"Refurbished Kindle Fire ($214.95 after coupon) or the new Kindle fire ($249.95 after coupon)."
much prefer to pay the extra 35 and get something new

think id prefer a generic android device though.

  • Groupon just finished a sale for refurbished Nook Tablet 16G for USD169+USD5.(http://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-certified-preowned-nook-tabl…)

Putting another 35 dollars on top for shipping from US to here, the total will arrive $210. And it has bigger hard drive and easier to root.

    • I thought the nook tablet (not the nook color) had a locked boot loader?

      • It's possible. I used a 1-click app to root it for my friend. Just run and reboot.

  • Sorry but no way.

"Local stock"? Please explain how a device that isn't supported in Australia can be "local stock".

  • "We are a reputable eBay seller that retails products that are…overpriced…"

    You said it.
