  • Wow that’s indeed insane price . I just got my cash back from last deal actually lol

  • Crazy deal, has kept going down for months, how low is the question!

  • Considering grabbing one.

  • What program to use for editing photos?

Currently using capture one 21 but pretty sure that's not compatible with Sony A74 raw file

    • Capture One 22 is, so I am sure they would have added support to 21 by now.

  • This is actually really good. I have the A73 and it's been travelling with me for years and I don't need the A74 but should I? Someone talk me out of it pls

    • same with you. I purchased A7 A72 A73……but I feel there is no need to upgrade to A74….maybe A7R5?

      • If you do video, it is a big upgrade on the stabilisation

      • Yeah while you be gaining better autofocus you be loosing a few mega Pixels so maybe not worth it :/

  • Been contemplating one to replace my A7R2, will pull the trigger on this.

    • +1

yeah would be a big huge upgrade in autofocus and video capability

  • Is this worth double the price of the A73 offering?

    • +3

      no

      • it is if you can get it for $2660 like the op.

    • Yes 100% if you can get it for around $3k and under, especially if you can sell your A73 for $1500 or so . For a hybrid that leans more towards photography.
      - higher resolution, improved color science and low light
      - 10 bit video option
      - improved AF, significantly better than the A73 from my experience especially with animals
      - improved ergonomics, flip screen and new menu system

    • On the same dilemma boat, but for me, I think a73 is more value for money.
I'm planning to get an extra lens with the price gap compared to a74.

This is a pretty good video to comparing both:

    • Depends on your use case. For video absolutely. For photos less so though there are still some improvements that may be important to people.

Wonder if the colour science is better compared to A7c especially skin tone? If anyone got experience with both? Thanks

    • -1

Do you not post process? The whole "skin tones" thing is bunkum. Skin tone reproduction can vary across lenses, and lighting, and unless you do zero post processing, skin tones are not an issue.

      • Definitely a valid concern

    • +1

I had an A73 and replaced it with the A74. Straight out of camera, skin tones definitely look better, for my skin type anyway.

      • Ah thanks for that. I used to post process a lot but dun have time anymore. I keep coming back to my Fuji for more pleasing skintone and overall colour. I love A7c tho due to AF performance n low light noise performance.

        • +1

I got my Fuji x100v still.for those times and a7c currently. Haven't received my a7iv yet though

          • @EnergicAU: Yeah I love my xpro2 n xs10. A7c is a dream in term of speed n low light noise performance, compactness and better battery life. I wish the jpeg colour rendering is better. Hence I'm curious abt A7iv colour. A7c II (if released) may even better? :p

            • +1

@Bargain-er: None of the Sony's will beat the Fuji for colour. I use the JPEGs sooc. Haha
So if I'm lazy I'll still take the Fuji out.

Mainly use the Sony for videos these days

        • @AndelahAlva The video on the A74 is a significant update to the A73/C. 10 bit means you can actually use SLOG3 but even in no profile the h265 codecs look nicer. The only controversy is the 4k60p 50% crop but you can't have everything haha.

          • @marcs: Haha yeh… Annoying because I was a Fuji shooter and I look at the xt5 and you get almost everything but not full frame :(

  • Still waiting for my order from early Nov and still waiting for my cash back too. Price matched digi and then purchased at the last 12%

    Sony a7iv
$2875 matched then with 12% cashback = $2530 from Sony

    • +1

      lol. Great price mate.

    • It’s actually $2504.70

  • +2

Wonder how long does the price match take normally? I have requested today 9am and have not received response yet from Sony.

    • usually 1-2 biz days.

    • Wondering the same thing. Don’t want to miss out on the 12% cash back.

I submitted yesterday and haven’t heard back either.

      • Got mine approved this morning and got the cashrewards soon after the order.

        • Cool. Great price mate. Mine is approved as well but grabbed a M3 at Saturday night, finalized at $1369. Not bad for a home camera.

    1. If you got your A7 IV delivered AFTER 1/12/2022, you may be eligible for the $369 CEA-G80T 80GB CFexpress Type A Memory Card. This brings the total down to 2760.04 - 369 = $2391.04.

    2. Has anyone got their AMEX $100 cash back yet?

    3. Has anyone had their Cashrewards Approved yet?
