Was looking for a phone (budget $400) and thought this was good value at $200.64:
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 - Smartphone 4+128GB, 6.43” 90Hz FHD+ Amoled Dotdisplay, Snapdragon 680, 50MP AI Quad Camera, 5000mAh, Graphite Gray (UK Version + 2 Years Warranty)

Not a techie, but according to the specs, it seems comparable to the Ozbarg popular Xiaomi POCO M4 Pro 4G (cheapest i could find was $327 on ebay): https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/403784370061?chn=ps&_ul=AU&mkevt…)

  • if DOA or faulty, where's the warranty from? in other words, how do we seek support if phone delivered DOA or faulty within warranty period (if any warranty period is offered)?

    • +2

You can return and get refund with Amazon in the first 30days.
Amazon will provide a return label for the return.

  • Can you unlock bootloader and root this ?

    • +1

Yes, there are a few steps though.

You need to login with a Mi Account on the phone, and then apply for the bootloader unlock. Then you use their tool to unlock the bootloader.

I'm not sure if they still have the X days delay in approval still. (In ye olde days, it took me 3 days)

Also, you can more or less wave Google Pay goodbye with an unlocked bootloader, unless you want to play continuous cat and mouse with Google.

Then again, AOSP without Google Pay any day over MIUI.

      • +1

There's a wait of 7 days from starting the bootloader unlock process to when it actually gets unlocked.

I've got other Xiaomi phones with custom ROMs on (ArrowOS and PixelOS). Google pay works no problem (8 months so far for one of them)

      • Unlocked bootloader doesn't matter I believe.

Payment services don't like devices rooted or having magisk installed. But there are modules to go around this.

I'm on arrowos and unrooted. Working fine for 2 years on my poco X3 NFC.

    • I beg your pardon !

People will complain about 4GB RAM not being enough these days, and maybe also about the MIUI, but for $200 these specs look good to me. I had a Redmi 4 back in the day and it was a BEAST in the battery stakes, battery cycle lasted forever even 2+ years into its life.

I got quoted $300 for the Motorola G82 at my local TGG, if you want to line the phones up (well within your original budget still).

    • Can i ask how you got quoted $300 when its $374 in their black friday sales? Was this in store?

      • +1

Yes. I had a very good team-leader who helped me out on unrelated matter, so I asked her how close she could get to $250 for the G82.
(PS: JB Hi-Fi had it at $299 during a recent Perks promotion.)

        • I believe it was $200 @ jb? Im still kicking myself i missed it Have ordered the Samsung A32 through TGG which doesnt look like being delivered anytime soon. Thinking of cancelling and paying the extra for the g82 if ~$300

          • +1

@Herb Utsmellz: I think the $200 was a price-error which might have lasted an hour before being corrected? Was well gone by the time I woke up here on the west coast!

  • OOS?

  • Bought one thanks op.

  • All over red Rover

  • Camera seemed poor compared to others by Xiaomi. It put me off the deal.

    • Any other phone you recommend under $200?

      • Well even this one was over $200 technically. This is a great phone but camera is not as good as the rest of the specs. Poco M5, Narzo 50A runs for ever. You can pick up a Redmi Note 7 for under $200 although I think they might be refurb - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003663770025.html
