Crazy Johns is selling the Pocket WiFi 2 with 3GB data for 39.50 at the moment. This device should be same as Vodafone Pocket WiFi 2 as Crazy Johns is using Vodafone network. The device will be locked to Crazy Johns/Vodafone.

For those that don't mind a bigger outlay & (probably) cheaper data rates you might consider getting a cheap (unlocked) android with wireless hotspot functionality & sticking in a Woolworths SIM card - $29/45 days with 5G data & bunch of calls. It runs on the Optus network.

    Yes, that's true - i should have mentioned that as i was aware of it.
    
    But in reality i've been doing it since August last year without any issues - use my whole 5G.
    It might be different on some other plans simply because tethering tends to crank up your usage…
    
    I've got a couple of cheap Androids with the function - one cost $100, the other $60.

  The sim card is a standard size sim and will not work with iPad. If you have a sim card cutter then you can cut it into a microsim which can be used in iPad. If you don't have the cutter, you may able to bring the sim to a crazy johns store to exchange for a microsim.

  I meant if you are lucky enough to get the code for free. Usually Vodafone charges you $25 (6 months old device) or $75 (new device) for the unlock code.

Hi Folks,

Might be a dumb question, but can I use this OS? I'm going to the US next week and thought this might be handy for the mrs and me. Can we put a US AT&T sim in there and use it as a hotspot for our phones / ipad to use Skype, etc??

  Once the device is unlocked, you should able to use it on AT&T 3G network with correct APN profile set up. It will not work on T-Mobile 3G network.
