Henry Cavill Dropped as Superman

Terrible news today as DCU has just dropped Cavill as Superman. Shame on Warner-Discovery for teasing him in Black Adam then making such an U-turn.

Now that he's also gone from Witcher, I don't know who I can come home to relax with after a long hard day. Maybe I will tune into his youtube channel building gaming PCs and Warhammer models.

Better yet, maybe Cavill can do a new Warhammer series for HBO and star as Emperor of mankind?

Did he say a naughty word or something?

    • He has creative differences with James Gunn, who is now directing the new superman.

Like who would trust the judgement of James Gunn? You had Pam and you let it go.

      • +2

It would have been pretty good to shoot a couple of the same episodes but with the creative style of each of them and then let the fens decide.
Sure it would cost a lot to make each of the episodes twice but I bet that could have been spun to be something pretty profitable.

Also, no idea who Pam is since I don’t really watch television shows or movies often.

        • +3

Pam is the best wife and I remind my wife of this fact everyday.

          • +1

            @CptnObvious: Oh?
            So you're the husband of hellopam123 !!
I think you let humanity down :'(

        • Gunn has said that they are looking at an earlier version of Superman, so Cavill doesn't suit the character they require.

Wonderwoman 3 is also cancelled. Aquaman, Blue Beetle, Shazam andFlash are still due to go ahead, but from all reports it will be rebooted with a new concept for any other films. They have hinted that Reeves' Batman may be the only thing to carry on to the next round.

    • +1

Henry is also a lot older now than Clark Kent is usually meant to be.

      • +8

Henry is dating 19yr old models. He can keep up.

        • +2

On the other hand Superman is celebate, so that's not the criteria to aim for. Stop downloading your Superman movies from dodgy adult sites. :-) That's not the right movie. :P

          • @syousef: Didn't Superman have a child with Lois Lane? Injustice, Superman & Lois.

Maybe you should stop projecting your virginity to a fictional character?

            • +4

@bargainsheep017: Way to be a buzzkill over a joke.

I was referring to the Christopher Reeve movies. He tried to settle down with Lois, but to do that he had to relinquish his Super powers and the world suffered for it so he had to undo it.

Btw I'm married with 2 kids and it's definitely not a dead bedroom situation. Maybe you should stop insulting strangers you don't know on the net because they don't like the same fiction you do, or disagree with you over fiction huh? Pot calling Kettle.

          to see conservatives heads explode

          what about liberal's heads?

        • +15

His superpower could be being perpetually offended.

          • -2

@brendanm: Let’s be realistic - that’s the conservatives. Constantly complaining about “woke”, “liberals”, and “muh free speech”.

          • +2

@brendanm: His superpower could be hurt feelings.

Or, he could go around bashing up ppl who are hurting other ppls feelings.

          • +3

@brendanm: Instead of the "man of steel" it would be the "them of paper." You know think skin and all.

        • They should do that with all the super hero movies all at the same time. That would be hilarious.

        • +3

Dave Chappelle will be they/them/their’s kryptonite

          • @Xplosive: Comedies to, based on his last couple of specials. And I love Chapelle.

        • You can go and fund it then.

      • alphabet mafia is going to cancel you….

Was he on annual leave too ?

    • +1

      I don't know. It's not like I stalk him.

(so here's the story, he got this news when he was in greece with his girlfiend natalia whatever, like he's too good for her anyway. Henry just finished Enola Holmes 2 and was preparing to buff up for next superman like he needs more buffing he's so hot. james gunn was with peter safran and they made gunn the new co-ceo of dcu and he saw it as a great way to get back at henry because pam apparantely left him after seeing henry in trisan & isolde or that's how the story goes. Henry is also 1.85m and is really dreamy. He could be a great james bond.)

      • +50

        wtf am I reading

      • +7

        Henry is also 1.85m

I didn’t realise he was so short.

        • +5

          Don't be a troll

        • They all look taller on screen. :)

        • That's only short if you're from the Netherlands.

      • +31

        Terribly insignificant news

  • +8

Henry Cavill is a gem, if they dont appreciate him someone else would.

    • Replying to my own post. I knew someone else would appreciate him. Now he is the executive producer for Warhammer project with Amazon. Props to Amazon for seeing this as an opportunity when others have abandoned Henry. I'm personally very excited to see he could bring to Warhammer.

  • Username checks out.

  • His last name isn't 'Reeve'?

  • +4

    Please, no more superman movies.

    • +6

No more DC movies. Sick of all the junk they put out.

      • +2

I don't want them to stop forever, I just want them to stop sucking.

    • +3

No more Batman movies! Nothing will ever top The Dark Knight Trilogy

      • +4

I love Nolan too, but the Batman is not that bad. I vote Timothee Chalamet as the young Superman.

        • +2

Chalamet has the acting chops, but do you think he could bulk up enough?

  • That jaw line, Mangrowls

One of the few left in Hollywood who isnt a woke lunatic and has creative common sense

    • +6

Not sure why you got so many negs at first, must of been the woke crowd.

      • +8

ozbargain is mostly woke nutters spend enough time here you notice it

        • Strange then that 'woke' v 'no woke' comments generally end up pretty evenly coated on if it's so one sided.

        • +2

ozbargain is mostly woke nutters spend enough time here you notice it

FTFY so you won't offend the woke.

    DCU

    Nothing of value was lost

  • +10

Godamn I hate Hollywood - it is just a cesspool of terrible woke writers that have their heads so far up their own a$$es they have no idea what people want and think they can change great and loved source material to make it better. Don't get me started on the gutless producers that have absolutely no balls to take any risk. That is why we keep getting unwanted remakes of classics and terrible sequels to franchises that are well and truly over and the same talentless actors in every movie.

    • +3

Yeh man, I for one would like to see John Wayne being resurrected and reprise all leading roles. I think you will agree he was a hard man's man… so dreamy, 1.93cm tall.

      • +2

        wtf, how high are you?

        • I like being an anti-conservative. Actually, I am an anti-everything.

          • +2

@CptnObvious: Got any merchandise? I could go with a "anti everything" t shirt…

          • +1

    • +2

have no idea what people want and think they can change great and loved source material to make it better

gutless producers that have absolutely no balls to take any risk

You want them to take a risk and change things or not?

  • +3

The next Superman movie is covering a much younger Clark Kent.

Anyway, I'm guessing Cavill has the Bond role sewn up.

  • +3

You'll get to see him for the next 10 -12 years as James Bond ……..

    • -1

Will Smith is the heavy favourite.

      • +8

There are list of better than candidates than Will Smith….hell…i'll even choose The Rock over him. Will Smith is just not cool after the public assault.

        • what do you mean hell you will choose the Rock over him? The rock is the third favourite. Think of the incredible range both actors can bring to 007. I for one would love to see the people's elbow being dropped on a bad guy

          • +6

@CptnObvious: What about Statham? Shouldn't Bond get away from his posh uppity accent and talk like a real Cockney, calling M "Guv" would be great innit?

          • +1

            @CptnObvious:

The rock is the third favourite. Think of the incredible range both actors can bring

wait? you think the Rock has acting range?

            • +10

@SBOB: Of course, he ranges from oiled and buff to angry and buff

            • @SBOB: I am hoping the next 007 movie will see Mr. Bond will go back to his west philadelphia roots and team up with Detective Marcus Burnett from Miami Vice. I would also welcome Michael Bay to direct the movie.

          • +3

@CptnObvious: The problem I find with both The Rock and Will Smith is that they don't become a character, the character becomes them. I.e It's Will Smith, playing Bond, playing Will Smith.

Aladdin is a perfect example of this, Robin Williams became and subsequently elevated the performance of Genie, Will Smith was literally CGI into a Genie.

    • Hope not - he doesn't look like a Bond to me. He's too over-the top buff.

      • He’s not that much bigger than Daniel Craig

  • +2

    Oh no! Anyway…
