Every time I get my wheels balanced or wheel alignment done they overinflate the tyres a significant amount to trick you into thinking they did an excellent job as the ride feels tighter. Last time they put 46 PSI (that was cold) into a 4WD tyre for goodness sake.
Uhm… and whats so hard about checking tread depth yourself? Last time I got an alignment they tried to convince me the tyres needed to be changed as they were almost not road legal. It's been 10,000 km since and they're still well above the indicators.
Just seems to be an excuse to sell me new tyres (or a balance/alignment).
I am slightly curious by what a battery testing would involve, but rather useless for me given I've got two batteries so it wouldn't bother me much if the main did die.
Just seems like an excuse to sell me a new battery.
Not really a bargain as I imagine any slightly competent tyre house will happily do these if it nets them a sale. Sorry OP.
+3 votesBut the whole, obvious, premise of this bargain is to bring you in to sell you something. And these people who know 'sweet FA about tyre maintenance' are simply going to be very easy prey for these guys.
As said below, like asking a barber if you need a haircut.

-1 voteYes, its always free. That's why I put it up on OzB… its a freebie. There's no obligation to do it as part of a vehicle service or to buy anything, though admittedly (from my own experience) they'll probably take the opportunity to try and get you to spend some $$$.

Homer: Now, this wheel balancing is free, right?
Man: Oh, you betcha, absolutely. Deh, uh, oh, uh-oh, wait a minute. These tires won't take a balance!
