40% off Luggage (Antler, American Tourister, Samsonite, Delsey etc) @ David Jones

890

Various luggage and suitcases on sale at DJs. For example American Tourister Sunside Spinner RRP $315 down to $179. A few Antler cases as well with the same discount, perfect for those travelling soon. I couldn’t find any other sites with similar discounts, I was going to wait for Boxing Day sales but this seems pretty good for branded cases.

Ends today!

Absolute brutalized 2 American tourister bags in Europe for 6 weeks recently and came back without a scratch and all 4 wheels working.

    Would highly recommend!

    • +2

Would also recommend the American Tourister, over 10 years old, made over 6 overseas trips, out of the 4 bought 1 recently got cracked but wheels still working etc, definitely worth paying more for these…

Thanks for the feedback - I purchased two American Touristers for my daughters, glad I made the right choice!

        • +1

They look good but the weight looks 3.6 and 3.8 kg for 55cm

That means if I take on carry on luggage I only have 3.2 kg before I hit the weight limit …

For carry on I try not to buy anything over 1-2 kg

          • +1

@AussieMark: Its why my carryon is a backpack. Weigh literal grams. So i can maximise the 7kg allowance.

    • Agree. I’ve had one that I’ve taken from Morocco to Malaysia and it survived without a scratch.

    • I had a different experience from you. Bought the American Tourister fabric luggage in 2017 and when I returned from Japan, it had two long rips running along the area where the hidden steel bars are located. Brought it back to David Jones to repair but after waiting for about a week, American Tourister wasn't able to repair it and offered a full refund. It was a very bad design and had no quality control because we realised that on the side where it was ripped, there wasn't any protective padding. All other three sides had protective padding except the handlebar side.

    • Would you reccomend American Tourister over Samsonite or are they pretty much the same?

      • +1

Also have had a good Samsonite in the past. I think either is a good bet.

  • +1

    Where 50% samsonite

    • There’s some Samsonite 40% off couldn’t see anything more then this

  • Is the sunside spinner suitcase really good? Just wondering why you highlighted that particular one.

    • It’s just the one I bought for my kids, no other reason why. I’ve heard American Tourister is decent and comments above seem to support.

There’s a few brands on sale by the looks of it

  • +1

Only 40%? With the amazing RRP I thought 50% discount is standard

    • +1

You’re not wrong there. 40%-50% off is standard

I used to work at Myer - a good deal is 60% usually around Christmas time.

PSA: speculated $120M sale of most of David Jones in next week
to the same Venture Capital company (Anchorage Capital) that bought old Dick Smith business for $94M & sold it on the stock market for $500M before it went into liquidation!! Many lost money - on gift cards.
*Won't affect purchases in this Deal.

  • No zipperless!

    • +1

      That's what she said

  • Are the prices online the prices after 40% or when you checkout you'll get the discounted prices?

    • +2

Seems you need to put in cart to see discounted prices

  • Can anyone recommend a good extra-large (>80cm) case?

  • Need a carry on, suggestions?

    • Samsonite 55cm upscale

      • Didn't find it, end up getting the "Bon Air Exp Deluxe Spinner 55cm Midnight Navy" for $162 delivered. I don't have high expectations, would be happy if can get 3-4 uses out of it.

        • +2

I would expect a lot more from a $162 carry on bag. Raise your standards! On sale you can get a very decent cabin bag for that price that should last you a long time. Not familiar with that brand though.

@b2dz: Thanks, the brand is American Tourister.

Hope it's built to withstand this type of handling lol

@citybargainhunter: Mate like the above comments, American Tourister is solid. They are not lightweight by any stretch, but what they have in extra weight they make up for in durability. I have one American Tourister mid size bag, love it. I have taken it around Indonesia probably ~10 different trips, in areas well off the beaten track and all four wheels and the case are in tact. Solid chunky wheels on mine. I do have a Samsonite flimsy one that I use occasionally but Qantas very rarely check the weight on carry-on (it's 10kg for domestic anyway). For other airlines though it's a consideration.

A bit of judicious searching online can bag you better bargains. I got a Samsonite Oct2Lite 68cm for a relo for $269.00 (bagstogo.com.au). DJ's has it for $449.00.

    • +3

      which is currently the same.
      $449 at david jones, - 40% sale = $269

      • Oops, apols. I thought the discount had already been applied. Colour me embarrassed.

        • Nah, no embarrassment, just highlights how the DJ sale price is regular price elsewhere.
As the other poster above mentioned, for luggage, 40-50-60% off RRP is basically the norm

    • ANy other great sites like this that you can drum up?

  • is the Samsonite 55cm worth getting over the American Tourister sunside 55cm

    samsonite is ~$90 more

    • +2

Samsonite likely lighter but more flimsy. Depends on use case. Travelling for business on mostly paved areas, then consider the Samsonite if you want less weight.

  • I’ll rather use Woolies recyclable bags if flying from Melbourne airport.
