[VIC] WD Black D30 1TB SSD $49, 2TB $120 | WD Black P50 500GB $30 @ Officeworks, Cranbourne

Found these in my local office works in Cranbourne (VIC). Grabbed a few but seemed like there was quite a few more.

Couldn't find any online store page for these.

Didn't realise nrby supported officeworks. DO you know who else it works with?

      • I'd be interested in knowing as well.

        That'd be a question for u/Vu.

I know NRBY relies on the store (Bunnings/OW etc) having a public API, but I believe those two stores are the only supported by NRBY.
Vu might be able to shed more light on it though :)

      • Is the data reliable?

        • +1

Only Bunnings and OW for now.

Uses the same data as the stock availability on their websites so is only as accurate as theirs is, although Nrby does cache it's results.

    • Picked 2 from Blacktown. They had quite a lot there and were receiving non-stop enquiries for these while I was at the checkout.

    Basically none around me

  • Maybe instore only?

  • WD Black D30 1TB SSD <<< is this a normal SSD (i.e. could be used with any devices)
    Thanks

Apparently a SN550 blue and shuckable. Not sure if it'll be a good boot drive but will be good enough as fast game storage.

  • Shuckable?

Should be moved to the limited quantity post.

I couldn't find it on the shelves, asked a girl, she searched and found one in a staff-only shelf behind the cashiers

Why are they clearing them out, what's wrong with them?

    • Could be new range/packaging… anything really.

  • Richmond all sold

  • Just was in store and they did a stock check. Only 2 of the $59 ones in stock. Just thought I'd save you guys calling Cranbourne

    • Or people could just check the stock anytime with Nrby.in

Not accurate…still shows 5 in stock for the $59 ones as of 6pm at Cranbourne .

Yeah their stock API isn't instant live stock but does get updated a few times a day.

There's also the other important thing to consider. Shoplifting 😉 Until there's a stocktake they don't really know.

          • @Clear: If it was live then how come it's not as per hexapling's comment? Stupid neggers.

  • Love the original prices! Makes you wonder….. if they can reduce the price by so much and still make a profit (there's no way they're selling below cost price) just how much were they making all this time off 1 product line.
Yes, i know the middle man has fu**ed a lot of businesses by charging stupid amounts before retail but point still stands…. somebody was making a ton of $$$

    • 0 chance they made a profit from this, limited stock+low price that's half as much as other typical ssd sales just shows they want to get rid of them asap regardless of loss. The profit margins on individual pc components is razer thin for retailers as is (5-20%).

Other items like laptops/prebuilts/peripherals are where the bigger margins are for tech retailers which is why you'll see higher price reductions for keyboards+mice more often.

As you said, it's the middle man and initial manufacturers ie intel/amd who make the lion's share of profit. Evga was making 5% profit for gpus and this was during the mining craze where prices were sky high, now imagine retailers even further down the pole.

  • Only the 500gb Firecuda still in stock Cranbourne. All else sold.

  • Thanks OP! Grabbed the last 2 WD Black P50 500GB's at Croydon, Nrby was actually accurate for once lol

    • Lucky. I was in there about an hour before you posted and couldn't see them anywhere. And a worker said they weren't in the system. Where did you find them?

      • +1

I rang up and asked, said there was 2 in stock on NRBY, and I believe the guy who answered the phone looked in the cabinet behind the counter.
From previous experience they dont keep those ones on the floor.

      • Actually, scratch that, I got them probably 1 hour before I commented, so you might have gone in just after I had picked them up.

  • Sold Out in Cranbourne

  • no 2TBs anywhere in NSW that says they have them.
