  • Great price.

    Thanks OP

I think this would sell out quick on Amazon

  • Only 5 copies on Amazon

    • +1

Looks like sold out on Amazon

  • +3

    Already drop price? Excellent find!

Switch Steelbook Edition was presold out everywhere that I got from EB Games through preordered standard then upgraded to steelbook without let me know & I used price match Big W's $79 on launch day.

Edited: PS5 launch edition $49 & Xbox $49 too at JBHIFI.

    • thank you for the heads up. been eyeing the ps5 steelbook and finally pulled the trigger.

    • Good find. I pre-ordered my ps5 copy at $79. Playing it right now - on the 3rd palace. At first I wasn't so into the game and I was kind of overwhelmed with everything you can do in the game, but I persevered and I'm now enjoying it.

    • Dang, I just got the UK version for $61 couple days back :(.
$7 return for amazon would make them around the same price.

  • Sold out on Amazon. Quite a few stores around Sydney have stock though. Tempting to add this to the backlog…

    • You should very hard to find hard copies of this

  • +4

Is this one of those hard copy switch titles that will sell out stock, have no further productions runs, then trade for inflated secondhand prices?

    • +4

      Definitely

    • +5

It's an Atlus game, so yes.

      • Surprisingly, Shin Megami Tensei V did not follow the trend.

        • It did but they reprinted more since.

I remember having to buy above $70 earlier this year because no stores had it in stock.

          • @tajid: I found a copy for $70 preowned from EB Games earlier in the year and broke my no buying from EB Games rule.

            • +1

              @Baa:

preowned….. my no buying from EB Games rule.

don't have much luck with preowned games, it's either an import copy or missing the cover.

              • +1

@wekimekigugudan: I mostly come in store to pickup if I see in stock to make sure it comes with its proper cover.

If I order online, I just return for refund if the cover is not original.

                • @tajid:

If I order online, I just return for refund

                  the postage isn't refundable right?

                  • @wekimekigugudan: Yes it isn't. Though you get free delivery from ebayplus and after certain dollar threshold, the store will be happy to order for you with free delivery.

    • +1

Everything on the cart with no download required makes it a standout for game preservationists and collectors. Until a reprint of the discs, it's the best version available.

Buy now, wait 2 years and easily make $50 on each copy. Wait 5 when the move to digital is really enforced and make more. Fanbase will pay for what they wish they bought now.

Even buying now, playing 200hrs then selling next year would make $10.

  • +1

Jrpgs and 3rd party switch games tend to come to aus retailers in very small quantities and seem to get sold secondhand at near new prices

  • Thanks for this. Was expecting it to be cheap later next year.

  • +1

Shin Megami Tensei V is also at discount on amazon

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Shin-Megami-Tensei-Nintendo-Switch…

    • +4

Get on this. This is the kind of game you want to play in 5 years time and find it costs you $200+ for a copy.

      • more like $350, god those prices for 3ds games are crazy.

        • Yeah I hear ya dude. Wish I'd pulled the trigger on a few of them for $59.

          • @Orion au: even then it was for a short time before they sold out when ebagmes discounted them from $79.

        • 3DS ones will always be more valuable as no other console to date can port it exactly (3D effect and dual touch screen).

Hence it's pretty much fixed onto that console.

In addition the limited numbers from Atlus just amplifies the demand.

        • +1

EB employee looked at me like I was crazy for buying 3DS games so late in its life cycle. Now look at the prices of SMT4 Apocalypse, Strange Journey Redux, Radiant Historia, Yokai Watch 3… only disappointed I didn't double dip.

          • @Yuri Lowell: never saw Radiant Historia, Yokai Watch 3 for sale at ebgames, i was trying to find overclocked on the 3ds. was it ever released in australia or only as a pal import?

            • @godofpizza: Radiant Historia nad Yo Kai Watch 3 was very limited quantities.

As for overclocked it got a AUS release but that too is very rare.

I've been trying to find that one for a reasonable price for a while now.

            • @godofpizza: Yokai Watch 3 wasn't in stock one day after it's release. It was so limited that only those who pre-ordered got their copy and no one else.
I'm not sure if I ever saw Radiant Historia in store either, I know I had to order that one online.

As for overclocked 1 and 2, they were really hard to get, number 1 got delayed and I'm not sure about number 2 to be honest, had to import that one

  • Thanks, got a copy. Finished it on PS and looking forward to playing it again.

  • +1

yeah I didn't like persona 5 as much as I enjoyed persona 4 I would say if you don't play persona 4 golden then you will love persona 5 but once you play persona 4 hehehe its a rabbit hole you can't come back from lol :D

    • +2

P4G is one of my fav games of all time. Hard to live up to that.

    • p4g definitely had the better story but p5r has so many qol game play changes that makes it an almost perfect game

  • -1

I owned the original, and are playing through royal through game pass.

But I'm tempted to get this, keep it sealed, and sell it a year or two later lol

    • Not planning to resell but will it get higher? They are available in other platform too not just nintendo unlike Mario or Zelda.

      • I mean, games like super robot war cost 100 bucks just cause it's never in print. FE mirage ranges from 80 to 100 bucks, and I got that for 30 bucks lol.

        Switch games really holds value.

        • it down to $29 at jbhifi at once stage when i got mine.

      • It's for Switch, it's from Atlus, it's Persona. It's a combo that says it'll at least hold its value.

  • +2

$39 with jbhifi perks! I knew it'd grab me a killer bargain one day.

    • totally forgot about the code might cancel the amazon order if its available near me for jb

  • Me praying that someone cancels their order so that i can get a copy on amazon cause jb doesnt ship to nz

  • Thanks OP. $39 with JB Perks voucher and can pick up on my lunch break.

  • Glad I held out, thanks!

  • Also grabbed for $39 with perks, cheers OP

  • Got one thanks for the perks tip :)

  • Dammit, I missed out. Closest JB is an hour away :(

    • +1

      They deliver for $2 iirc

      • +1

True, still a bit of wait time with it.

Just thinking though I have it twice for ps4 (normal and royal), not sure I really need to purchase it for almost a 3rd time for portability when I could be using the money for something else I don’t already own on a system.

      • Actually I did end up finding one at a store close to me, I bit the bullet on the Switch version.

    • Shipping is $1.99?

      • Says it won’t arrive till the 11th of Jan and there’s no tracking on it either.

        Long time to wait.

      • Actually I did end up finding one at a store close to me, I bit the bullet on the Switch version.

  • Thanks so much! I almost bought this yesterday from EB games but held off! You’re a legend!

  • I played it on Xbox Game Pass, great story! Don't ever for the slightest second consider Safety Mode.

  • I assume the out of stock is just online as I picked up a copy at my local JB Hifi only about a hour ago with no problem and there was was a couple more cases on the shelf so assume it wasn't the last one.

  • Wohooo thanks for the tips above! Picked up for $39 with JB hifi perk :D

  • missed out. absolutely fuming >:(

    • call your local store ask if they have stock, and ask where nearby stores would have any.

  • did anyone who ordered it from amazon get it?

    • Yeah mine arrived today

      • Thats strange I ordered mine with 5 copies left and it said order today and receive it tomorrow but it seems its stuck on preparing for shipping

        • preparing for shipping

          that's a good sign

The closest Amazon warehouse don't have in stock to wherever you are, Amazon sources it from another of their warehouses.

  • I dont know why but all my Atlus Switch game cases have a weird wave like crinkle on the back.

My copy of PS5R has it too.

    • +1

      because of the shrink-wrap.

      • It's not

I've opened it and its the plastic case not the shrink wrap

        • +1

the shrink-wrap caused the wavey lines, i bought Stardew Valley shrink-wrapped the same way as Square Enix titles and the case has wavey crinkles.

if it were Y fold seal wouldn't be like this.

          • @wekimekigugudan: Ok that makes sense.

Not sure why they keep doing it this way but it's annoying especially for collectors.

  • Try your luck in-store, I just picked up a copy at my local JB Hi-Fi even though the website says it’s out of stock.
