  • Honestly can't recall if I ever played this.

I know they messed up the Warcraft 3 remake real bad

    • +2

Starcraft Remaster is really good unlike Warcraft III Reforged. That shit was a scam.

      • +1

Such a shame I'd love to go through W3 campaign again, I remember loving it

        • +1

Well. Good luck to us all. Even hearing that they stuffed it, I still wanted to play it.

It has NEVER gone on sale. Ever. Weirdest thing. It's like they've completely forgotten about it. Such a shame. Huge nostalgia game for so many gamers.

          • +3

@Sxio: They also broke your old copy of WC3 as well when they released Reforged. An actual travesty.

SC Remastered and D2 Ressurected are amazing games. Reforged - not so. Honestly, rather than trying to play Reforged, download the WC3 mod for StarCraft 2. It is a better recreation than Reforged.

            • @ajr5k: Did anyone figure out how to hack past that?

I guess it ruined online too right?

              • @hamwhisperer: You can't hack past it as they upgraded the old WC3 servers to host Reforged instead - So any online interaction needs the server patch. You can only play the old version if you don't allow it to connect to the internet and you play locally.

The online scene was DOA due to Blizzard implementing clauses within the TOS to state they automatically own all rights to anything developed custom in the WC3 engine - In other words, they didn't want another DOTA or LegionTD - Despite them having those properties in their engine/environment and providing no support to the people who created them, allowing them to easily shift to a developer that would provide that support. DOTA2 to Valve is the main example.

      • Alas I've left PC gaming long behind, happens when you get older sometimes

This was given for free recently, one of my favorite RTS of all time. I tried to play it again and couldn't even get past the tutorial. Pressing Esc on a building will cancel it without warning. I don't know any other RTS that does this. Esc is muscle memory for deselecting the currently selected unit/building. I ended up making this mistake more than 5 times trying to play the tutorial mission and had to give up. They did not modernize the interface.

    • I sorta liked it…. Broke the habit of deselecting things for no reason to improve my APM

      • I wasn't playing competitively, was just planning on getting through the campaign and calling it a day. I couldn't last 5 mins because SCVs kept canceling the construction. The hotkey to cancel should be a different key, or you should be asked for confirmation when you do it. SC2 did not use Escape to cancel building.

        • Esc to cancel is fine.

          • +1

@congo: it was fine in 1998, yes. There's a reason games don't use it anymore.

    • Didn’t even know “esc” did that.

    • Pressing Esc on a building will cancel it without warning. I don't know any other RTS that does this

Not exactly the same thing, but AoE2 let you delete buildings without confirmation with a single press of the "Delete" key.

Deleted my own Town Center right at the start of a LAN game once and nobody in the group noticed when I informed them (hoping they would restart), so I just let it go and sat that one out. Everyone was super confused later in the game once they finally realised and we all had a good laugh, good times.

      • I do remember that, which I thought was dumb. But at least it's not the Esc key.

I used to get bullied by my dad when we used to LAN 1v1. Yes my father is Korean

From what I can find it looks like it doesn't support ultrawide (specifically keen for 3440x1440), is anyone who owns it able to confirm this?

    • Aren't SC and SC2 designed so everyone has the same field of view, ie. the resolution may improve and you get more detail, but the viewport stays the same.

That would answer why it wouldn't support ANY wide view and probably display empty spaces on both sides.

      • +1

The original release supported only 4:3. The remastered supports 16:9 on my 32” monitor if that helps. Unsure of ultra wide screen though.
