50% off Definitive Technology BP 9000 Series Speakers & Subwoofers & Free Delivery @ Selby Acoustics

40

Hello Ozbargainers,

Got an email newsletter letter of 50% off RRP (not up to) for Definitive Technology BP series for 26th and 27th Dec as a part of boxing day sale. Edit: Now extended to 31st Dec.

As per the RRP prices should be following:

Floorstanding Speakers
BP9060 @ 2149.5 ( RRP 4299)
BP9040 @ 1749.5 (RRP 3499)
BP9020 @ 1249.5 (RRP 2499)

Centre channel Speakers
CS9040 @ 399.5 (RRP 799)
BP9060 @ 599.5 (RRP 1199)

Surround Speakers
SR9040 @ 399.5 (RRP 799)
SR9080 @ 499.5 (RRP 999)

I have been looking for BP fronts to match with my CS9080 centre to complete my HT system and saw this promo email. If these are 50% off RRP, it would be a crazy deal. Not that big here in Australia but they gets some great reviews on the US sites.

These have great bass because of inbuilt subs and passive radiators depending on the model.

Apologies for any mistakes. Only my 3rd post.
Merry Christmas

This is part of Boxing Day Sales for 2022

in the words of Fat pizza: - Sick mate sick…..SUBWOOFER!!!!

  • No subs?
    Just floor and bookshelves?

    That said, good deal!

From my VERY limited research, it seems these speakers are designed not to have/need a sub. They have powered subs built into the cabinet (so needs a power cable and LFE signal input).

      • Ah I didn't even look at the specs on the fronts!

        Dual 10" subs, and a reported 18 hz floor… That's pretty neato.

That said, hometheatrereview shows a roll off (-2.3db at ~31hz). I'll stick to my dedicated sub.

Might be a great speaker for music if it suits your ears.

    • I am not sure if the DN series subs would be included in the sale but will update on 26th if they are.

  • I've never needed speakers for a tv do they really make a difference (have a c9 55 oled atm). TV is loud already which is what I thought speakers/subwoofers are for

Not so much with FTA TV but good speakers make a hell of a difference watching movies and TV shows as well as listening to music.

Can't speak for these speakers though, haven't heard them.

    • Sound isn't about loudness. I mean… have you ever watched a movie in a theatre? Was the sound better, clearer, more detailed than your tv?

      • yeah but cinema are just too loud so do sound clearer, unsure about detail though. I never turn my music/tv loud and if I want to I wear headphones,
I dis hear how some speakers/subwoofers can make it sound more realistic which I never experienced it in cinemas or anywhere

Your ears are the only opinion that really matters, but to me a tv speaker sounds like I'm listening to something through a hollow cylinder. It severely restricts the range of sound that you can hear. Can't hear the highs, nor the lows, and everything I can hear is muffled or metallic. A decent set of speakers brings life and realism to the sound. It sounds "bigger", not like all of the sound is coming from a small origin. It sounds like the sound is in my room instead of over the phone.

If you can't tell the difference, great! You've saved yourself a lot of money!

    • These are home theater speakers. If you want detail, that deep bass and clear vocals these would be definitely an upgrade to your TV speakers to say the least.

  • Subs also in the centre speakers… really??

  • @OP is this online or in-store only?

    • All good.. just bought the surround SR9080 to go with my Paradigm Prestige LCR.

    • They're selling Klipsch R-100SW subwoofer for $599 but some of the shop review seem to suggest sketch practices. Anybody dealt with them before?
