Good all round specs only weighed down by 8gb of soldered (non upgradable as its a slim 13') ram which doesnt really pair well with such a powerful cpu me thinks. Like the cpu is obviously capable of much more multitasking than the ram will be able to handle. Cant ask for everything at the 900$ mark.

It is, but unless you're doing heavy multitasking 8GB of RAM is just fine with the processor with light tasks like web browsing and office work.

Got 8GB of RAM on my 4600u Lenovo and works fine with Lightroom, 16GB would be nice but it can handle it.

But who buys an 8 core 5800U for light tasks like web browsing and office work?

        It's another stupid, unbalanced arrangement.

  • Note that alot of these have a well-known keyboard imprint issue on the screen including mine which i had to return. Otherwise, purchased this for $700 mark durint black Friday. Such a shame as it really is a great portable laptop!

    • This is not a a deal for $900.
However, you did not purchase this system for $700 but likely purchased the 5600U, 512GB SSD version.

      This has 5800U, 1TB SSD.

I would recommend asking them to open and turn on in store, and keep trying until you find a good one, otherwise try a different store.

I bought a Ryzen 5 model last month and went through this - they tried 7 units in store before they called around and got a good one sent over from another store. The end result is great, great screen (Once you get an unaffected screen). The Ryzen 5 model weighs 945g.

  • I honestly don't get cutting 8GB to reduce the sale price by $40

    • +1

Has nothing to do with the cost of the additional 8gb of memory. It's like that to push people that need 16gb or more to higher end computer at double or more of the price

  • +2

Why do these mongs insist on 8gb soldered ram.

    • They are as courageous as the other courageous fruit company.

      • They are as courageous driven to create value for shareholders the same as the other courageous fruit company.

        Gotta love corporations and capitalism!

      • Pricing strategy to push consumers to purchase more expensive devices
      • smaller/lighter devices.
