Is It Worth Getting iPhone 12 Pro for The 5G? Is It Noticeably Faster than iPhone 11 Pro 4G

Hi. Need some feedback from peeps about whether the 5g is "noticeable" enough to warrant upgrading to a 12 pro, or 11 pro with 4g ? Asking for a friend who seems to think the 5g will be 'better' though I not sure the extra money worth it as budget is important. He using an 8 that battery is stuffed on atm

Real life experience MUCH appreciated.
Friend lives in Melbourne.
Many thanks for thoughts, opinions, experience to help decide .
Happy New Year ozbarginers.

  • buy both from apple, test it out and return the other?

edit: seems apple doesn't sell iphone 11, but just get the 12 for 5g and see yourself

It probably depends on what you use your phone for whilst on mobile network

Ie if it’s just email, maps, apps and the odd video you prob won’t notice much diff

    • Can you clarify of what use WILL make noticeable difference please?

If you're playing with large amounts of data or downloading apps. Streaming 8K video or something or rather

        • Thank you for reply.

  • Replacement battery on an iPhone 8 is only $80 if that's the only problem with it.

There's no 5G coverage inside tunnels on trains as far as I recall (it took until 2015 until there was any signal), but it has been a while since I've been on a train though.

  • absolutely, it is night and day. i can't ever use anything that isn't 5G, and i have to be on the Telstra network. I'm in metro Sydney. I tried Optus (sucks), and Vodafone (POS). I had to go back to Telstra. I was getting over 1000mb speed in areas, but always super fast in the 700+mb range. optus was very spotty and there "5G" only peaked at around 400mb for me in the same areas i was testing telstra. Vodafone should go to jail for what they call "5G", its more like 3G. absolute garbage. i can't live without 5G now, i can't live without Telstra 5G. YMMV
it would be best to see what towers are near your house, work, and places you mostly go to. 5G is faster then my house internet, and I actually use my mobile data at home and hotspot it because it is so darn fast.

    • Thank you for information. I’ll pass it on to him
