thanks! been chasing one of these but didn't want to pay anywhere near rrp

As an Ozbargainer member you are never allowed to pay RRP for anything. It's part of the rules.

        This is the way

    Great deal!

Does anyone know if there's a single version of this? I live alone so only need one sandwich and the cheapass in me doesn't want to pay for extra power for the other plate that heats up unnecessarily lol

It’s 2023, she can pay for her own things

With some of the recipes shared in the 2019 forum thread I’m wondering if 2 at a time is enough for myself let alone some for the misso.

        forum post as per above

        Chicken, cheese, pineapple and onion.

        Baked bean, cheese and onion.

        Creamed corn and cheese.

Ham, roast pork, swiss cheese, American mustard and sliced gherkin. Sort of a Cubano.

Tuna in olive oil drained, mayo or aioli and Colby cheese.

Ham, tomato, red onion, sliced Kalamata olives, semi dried tomato and cheese.

And last but not least, plain old canned braised steak and onion.

Congrats on winning TA's tightarse of the month award.

  • Have the standard original model already, is there much difference?

  • This looks nice but its not a jaffle maker as I know it. A jaffle maker doesn't cut the bread in half. This is a jaffle maker:

      You sly devil you

      • Haha.. nah that was just the first link i got when i googled haha. Kmart sells square shaped units but I prefer the round shape. This filled woth nice curry mince.. better than sex 😀

    • according to breville the first jaffle was made by Breville hence why this is called "the original" ;)

    • Don't think it matters if it's cut in half of not, though cut in half definitely fits less filling.

      • Yea this is why I like it not cut. The filling to bread ratio is much better when its not cut :) my 2c.

      • Also if it's cut in half you only get half as much and you need to eat twice as much.

  • Thanks got one.

I thought these things were called toasted sandwich makers. The hell is jaffle?

Is this some crappy New Zealand term like jandles?

    • +3

+1 Jandles = stupidest word ever

    • +1

I'm from South Africa and this Breville is a snackwitch maker, or at least for us haha. A cast iron thing as per my link above is what we use as a Jaffle maker. Big difference for us is a sandwicher does half breads and this would be for something like ham and cheese where not a lot of filling should be done vs a Jaffle maker you have a lot of filling like curry mince and its not split into 2.

  • Is this one worth it over getting a cheaper model?
I haven't had a jaffle maker in the house for years and am very tempted by this.

Maybe take a gamble on this if you’re unsure how much you’re gonna like jaffle long term

2 jaffle and you’ve already broken even mate

Unbelievable how they can manufacture shit like that at that price and make a profit.

        • I suppose it comes down to scale of operation really - like..Kmart would have to be buying and landing them for like.. <$4 a piece surely. The bread toasting market segment surely cannot be that large there is any incentive to go be a loss leader on it…

    • U can if you believe you can

      • Haha.. well i got one as its like half the price now. Just in time for my diet to start hahaha

  • Not letting me buy one

  • Same, shows expired, there are others within about $20 of this one when using that code.

I’m gunna be honest when I say it was the number ‘69’ that made me buy.

      It’s practically an obligation.

  • Deal marked as over, party is over boys.

$69 pricing for anything has to be a joke in this day and age. Or a lucky number in some cultures…. maybe all cultures? LoL

  • +1

I love jaffles, always have always will. But I recently switched to the "big one" square style and don't see myself going back to the original triangle style. Looks like the big one has a $69 RRP - https://www.breville.com/au/en/products/grills-sandwich-make…

    • Wow, do you need larger slices of bread to use this?

      • +1

It has subtle ridges for both small and large bread. So far everything I have tried works.
