Cheaper from Apple using gift cards from Woolies starting tomorrow

    • Not looked into it but would it beat price matching with Officeworks? I got the 256gb ver for 1270 something last time doing this ;)

    • +3

Or from Coles, ends today :)

MOD Please add the following: Alternatively you can buy the 3rd generation for $1139 from JB HI FI https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/apple-ipad-pro-11-inch-12…

And then price beat with office works for even cheaper https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/ipad-pro-1…

There is no significant differences apart from the chipset and no significant performance differences.

    • +1

There is GPU difference and I price matched Amazon through Officeworks last time

      • Is there anything on iPadOS that can make use of the M2 over the M1? Everything I've seen has the M1 being overkill as it is.

        • +2

Overkill until devs start rolling out apps that take advantage of m2 chips.

        • +1

          Video editing?

    • As the OP, you have the ability to edit your deal post and add it to the description.

    • 4th Gen supports hover with Apple pencil which is a killer feature for some applications

  • Anyone know if and when the Apple back to uni promo is starting?

    • I doubt it, they usually do on the 5th of January but no announcements yet. It will probably be a gift card this year.

  • +1

As an m1 owner still patiently waiting for Apple to do… anything useful with the m1/2 capabilities

    • +3

Yeah I bought a ProBook with M2 and the only thing I use it for is to develop and test apps for other people to use. :P

It's shiny yes. Very nice… shiny.

What is this Apple ProBook thing?
Are you dyslexic or do you have some special new product I am unaware of?

        • Macbook Pro… yeah. lol.

(secret developer edition, costs left kidney, shhhh)

      • Yep you def need something that has an apple logo on it to even start to dev work.

What do you use such expensive tablets for besides streaming content?

    • I will use for it university.

      • +4

What kind of use at university which a laptop doesn't accomplish?

and would you carry both laptop and tablet to university?

        • +1

I think to write notes especially for maths students/teacher

          • -2

@ivyholmes: Pen and paper should work too?

            • -1

@Notacommie: For teaching online as well. How do you be able to do that for teaching maths online without ipad, it's difficult

        • +1

          Good for note taking.

          • +1

@Vancomycin 1000mg: I would use scribe or elipsa longer bettery life feels more like paper and more pleasant to the eyes

        • +1

I use it as sidecar (2nd screen) on the go.

    • You mean it’s not just a flex ?

      • +2

Real flex is Mercedes Benz A180 aka poverty pack.

        • The Mercedes for people who can't afford to buy a Mercedes

    • In my opinion, the best use cases for an iPad Pro are note-taking, drawing, photo editing with the Apple Pencil 2. Note-taking works best with the larger 12.9" tablet.

Check out this new app called Freeform https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AM5Fgb-qjA

Handwriting recognition is also quite useful if you need to convert anything to text.

All other use cases are not unique, just fun/comfortable/luxurious in my opinion.

      • the generic pens have actually been surprisingly OKAY too for notetaking.
use mine to do up mud maps/ planning diagrams as a visual aid for my quotes.

        • Do you have a link to a decent one? I sat on my Apple Pencil over Xmas and broke the nib, then destroyed it while trying to fix it.

    • When I travel I do not take a laptop, just the iPad.

  • No 5gee

  • Ridiculous that they can charge this much for a tablet and people will pay it 😂 I can get a gaming PC or laptop for that price.

    • show me a more powerful laptop for that price.

      • Quality over price mate. I'm andriod user have had laptops from HPs, Acer, Asus and. None have come close to anywhere near the quality of Apple product. The designs are but they also last a long time.

        • I work in IT and the amount of iPads i've had to dispose of due to faulty devices is insane.

      • +1

It's a shame that iPad is severely limited by iPadOS. I dream of the day Apple incorporating MacOS into iPad, then I would buy iPad Pro 12' in a heartbeat.

    • It hurts your sensibilities but buyers vote with their wallets and… they’ve voted. Horses for courses.

  • Hopefully they do a similar deal on the 12.9” soonish

    • +2

If you are interested. IPad Pro 12.9 inch M1 256gb for $1,562.74 delivered on [eBay] (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/184980874363?epid=27045899018&ha…)

      • Thank you

        • I just purchased a 12.9” M1 brand new from eBay for $1,055.00 (original price 1,199.00 after $150 January eBay Plus coupon).

Kept a close eye on eBay for about a week regularly - so there are deals out there for the 12.9” if you stay vigilant. They don’t last long though when they come up, missed quite a few.

  • +1

    Not worth it.

  • Still no decently priced iPad with over 64gb of memory…

    • Ipad air is your friend though

      • The deals on the outgoing 4th gen were good, in retrospect I should have grabbed one. The 5th gen Air is still pretty expensive IMO…

  • +3

Good price but still can’t justify upgrading my 2018 iPad Pro….

  • +4

Some people mentioned here that you can get a gaming pc or gaming laptop for this price.

Can they suggest, for this price, a pc or laptop that has at least a RTX 3070 for gaming?

Not DoTa gaming, real games like Modern Warfare 2

I don’t think you can game properly on anything less and 60+ fps is the minimum really.

    So….. awaiting suggestions- anyone?

    • Does this tablet have the performance of a 3070?
