great deal, i only need memento and insomnia :(
    anyone wanna split?

    • Don't waste your time on Insomnia. Oxymoronically, that movie induced narcolepsy.

      • Funnily enough, I too fell asleep while watching that. I liked it though.

    • Yes i would like both the dark knight and batman begin. where are u at?

      • I'll split
        I need the batman movies

  • I need The Dark Knight Rises.

    • Hopefully it's better than TDK.

      • it will. budget is $250 mil and reviews from pre screen are quite positive.

What was wrong with TDK? I thought it was really good.

        • +1

I just thought it was bland. It seemed to be technically well made, but I just found it lacked soul. I liked BB much better!

I can accept that I'm in a small club here, but that was just my take on it…I actually gave it another watch recently to see if my original impressions were off the mark, but I still found it kinda meh!

        • +1

Im in that club too StewBalls…thought I was the only one lol. BB was much better imho, I didn't get all the fuss that was made about TDK, it was alright but very overrated.

        • Nothing. I recently watched both movies back to back. BB has a more spiritual feel to it. It also focuses on Bruce's personal struggles a lot more - fighting his demons. If Nolan pushed this angle for the second movie, it would be flogging a dead horse (so to speak).
The second movie (TDK) was primarily of a conflict between good and evil (the White Knight v/s the Dark Knight). It was certainly more of a block buster than BB.
From what I have read, the third movie is more like TDK than BB. I tend to trust Roger Ebert's reviews. He described TDKR as being very complex (too many characters), but still a great movie.
I suspect that TDK will be considered the best of the three for most movie goers, but it doesn't make StewBalls or mar79 any more right or wrong than anyone else by having a different opinion…

          Oh, good bargain BTW ;)

        • FWIW, I saw TDKR over the weekend…and I really liked it. IMHO it is a far more enjoyable movie than TDK, more like a return to the heart & soul of BB by having characters that you actually want to root for!

I have no idea why Ebert would think that it's unnecessarily complex, it's not; but even if there were some elements of complexity in a movie targeting a mature audience, what else would he expect given that Nolan is tying up a 3-movie story arc.

No, StewBalls! I used to like you!
I suppose I can let this one slide…
        :P

And fchis - a big budget doesn't necessarily make a good movie. Look at the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels ($220 - $300m), Spiderman 3 ($260m), Superman Returns ($230m) and X-Men 3 ($210m) - just to name a few.

ya, that's why i put "and reviews from pre screen are quite positive."

As long as Christopher Nolan is in it, it's gotta be good.

  • Does this work on aussie blu ray?

    • I just checked the website it says Region: All Regions

  • All are brilliant films.

  • Im pretty sure memento is region A though the others are region free. You might be better offering buying locally since memento won't work without a region free player

  • +1

I'm pretty sure this set uses the 10th anniversary edition of memento which is region locked A http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Memento-Blu-ray/18419/
