Probably $300 in the US, we get ripped on tools over here

    • +8

Tools? There's nothing we aren't getting ripped of on.

      • I mean, salaries.

      • +2

They’re a Hong Kong based company.

        • No they're not, headquarters in … Milwaukee, what you talking about?
And how do you get upvotes lmfao?
The owner is now multinational company Hong-Kong based, tools are still 'American'

      • I mean you basically just described the concept of capitalism/free market. If someone could sell it cheaper, they would. Your point is, from a theoretical point, valid.

      • +1

Pretty sure this is TTI which make very similar devices in different skins at different price points.

Some people pay more to look pro, which is OK if you've got cash to splash and you're aware what's happening.

    • would be closer to $400 cause of the currency exchange rate, how ever this price is because the companies other brand AEG are doing the same 2 pack for the same price https://toolkitdepot.com.au/aeg-18v-6-0ah-fusion-2-piece-com…

  • I found my new Milwaukee drill is significantly weaker than my one from about 5 years ago. not sure if I bought a weaker one as my serial has rubbed off my old one but just something to think about if your working with decking/hardwood

  • +2

Just a heads up that these are the old models. The new hammer drill has auto stop which is pretty amazing, and might possibly save your wrist from snapping one day.

Other than that it’s a pretty good deal especially with the free m12 battery

    • Is that the gen 3?

      • These are gen 3. New models are gen 4.

        • +1

Oh wow, im a few models behind, will look out for that gen 4 as that sounds great

    • If these are the gen 3.5 then I will buy, but the gen 3 has trouble with it gripping the drill head at times.

  • Bonus 4ah from redemption too i believe

  • -2

$300 for a drill, $300 for an impact is a lot of money.

    • +3

Lots of money if you are using them once a month.

      • That's me because i like to buy the BEST!
        festol hammer drill any good?

    • Feel free to stick to $29 ozito brushed clearance stock

      • Poor fool you

      • -1

Nothing wrong with Ozito or brushed motors. If you need a $300 drill you must be one hell of a busy and extremely skilled trade.

Otherwise, for every day use by professionals that don't treat their tools like garbage, any decent $100-150 Makita will do.

I've built 2 homes in 5 years with Ozito to Makita quality tools.

        • +2

any decent $100-150 Makita will do.

Ah yes, let's all just jump in the time machine and travel back to when tools were half as expensive.

If you do find a 2-piece Makita kit with two batteries for $200-300 in the current year of 2023, please do post it to OzBargain.

          • @OZKap: I don't like batteries.

You can buy a mains powered Makita drill and impact for well under $300, probably under $200 right now that will get stuff done for years.

It'll be teal and won't have go fast holes or look like a venus fly trap or a Lamborghini and your mates won't piss in your pocket, but they'll be reliable and get stuff done.

If you NEED batteries, yeah, you'll pay 50% more for that up front and forever.

        • +4

Lol… built two houses with ozito. Epic!

          • @The Araldited Wallet: And everything up to Makita quality. See, you omitted an important part of the quote ya cheeky bugger ;)

Yet many people have Hilti and can't built a spice rack.

The woe Ozito has caused me … bought 5 piece kit, circ saw, drill, impact screw driver, 115mm angle grinder and a torch, Day 1 the drill starts and immediately stops when the trigger is pulled, drive down to Bunnings,

Stand there holding the thing while the guy responds to the PA call, the guy comes, the thing decides to work, the guy says he can't exchange it (yeah K*** I love wasting my fuel and time FOR NO REASON!) walking out while pulling the trigger and it starts failing again, walk back to help desk and wait for the petty tyrant again, finally get it replaced

The stuff was used on weekends to do light work, the batteries recharged early to save them from early failure.

Then about a year later I need the stuff to fix and get a bus which was converted to a camper some 200 plus k's from a Bunnings going and off the property it was on quickly as the property was rented from the council and was being resumed and sold to developers, the stuff proceeded to fail, the Angle grinder burnt out with little use, the Circ saw constantly stalled and the batteries shat themselves, since then all but the Circ saw and the drill are landfill … buy the crap and lose!

Gained some respect for myself and bought a Makita set on a buy now pay later scheme … no more crap tools for me!

          • @Series4Episode10: Just wish I kept my mixnmatch German and jap brand tools which I sold to come up here, stupid decision! shoulda got my friend to store them and send them up when I was settled, those old tools were wonderful!

    • Don’t really disagree with you, I have a Bosch GDX 200 impact driver which I got in a set with ProCore battery and it’s awesome, I use it heaps around the farm. I got it for $240 under two years ago and it’s now $300.

      https://sydneytools.com.au/product/bosch-gdx-18v200-0615990j…

200Nm whilst the Milwaukee is 230Nm.

Gezus, I purchased a Makita 4 piece set from Total Tools with the equivalent to this, a 125mm grinder an impact hammer drill 2 bats 1 by redemption, charger and carry bag for $949 almost exactly a year ago, are they gold plating tools now? I see the Makita equivalent to this set is close the undiscounted price of this set!

    • Makita isn't Milwaukee though.

      • Nah, Makita is what every fake tool fakes, and the idea that MW is better than any of the other decent brands is just hype, they are better sometimes and sometimes not!

Have a look at the comparison videos on youtube … or just continue in your ignorance!

MW batteries are made to deliver greater power … but sacrifice the cells in doing so, so charge ya bats early or be prepared to buy replacements more often, so if cost of ownership is a thing, MW is not your friend, but we live in a consumer paradise, enjoy filling up landfill, so off yas go!

My decision to buy Makiata was made as I bought 2 Makchink fake Makita tools and some genuine batteries till my finances recovered after spending everything I had on buying the property I live on and the Ozito rot had mostly failed!. and after watching the videos on how Makchink stuff is close to the quality of a decent brand I tried the stuff out, then researched Makita, stuff made to last, and that's what I needed to know! not who has the biggest d!ck!

Those 2 Makchink tools still work today (1/2 drive hammer with 1/4 drive recess and a 125mm angle grinder) 2.5yrs after purchasing them (Sad I can't say the same about Ozito!) purchased to help me build my house and chicken coups, removing screws from reclaimed wood and so many chores around here along with the Makita set which I purchased a yr ago through buy now pay later, a Makita MXT circ and recip saw I got second hand the pair $100 , the guy was going past and dropped them off, I hard wired in a LXT bat to MXT tool adapter into both … a second gen multi tool $200 delivered and some 12v stuff ($199 del) I use for building cabinets.

Just wish I kept my mixnmatch German and jap brand tools which I sold to come up here, stupid decision! shoulda got my friend to store them and send them up when I was settled, those old tools were wonderful! even the nicad ones, and I have the tools to repack and build lithium bats now and an aftermarket charger that will charge anything from 1s to 6s packs

I couldn't be happier … and if there's a better performing tool … IDFC … Do you guys upgrade your tools just becuase there's a % gain by buying the latest model? … when the stuff you have has the scooch to do everything you ask of it? cause I see those posts all the time on the forums, WTF would you weekend warriors need to do that? … it does my head in! my Makita stuff will last and it does everything I ask of it, and Makita make the batteries to last … SICK OF PAYING FOR SH!T THAT ENDS UP LANFILL!

  • Work bought these a year+ ago, with a circular saw via redemption.

I haven't used the drill much, but the impact is wildly powerful for something that small. Runs circles around my AEG brushless impact. My AEG couldn't get rusted-in 150mm batten screws in treated pine to budge, the Milwaukee had no issues.

Only annoying thing is the Milwaukee impact chuck doesn't spring-eject the bits, you need to pull them out, meaning it's a two-handed job

  • I want the gen 3.5 if possible but there is no way of knowing until you physically inspect it.

The gen 3 has problems holding the brill head in place.

  • @TonyPaul how about the M12 kit? Can you match the price Toolmart has it for? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/751268

    • +2

      Hi hldandfamily,

Yes, we will price match this deal while Toolmart still has it at this price. You can click on the "Price Match" link on our website to price match this online, otherwise you can pop into your nearest ToolKit Depot store and mention the deal to any team member who will be able to help you out.

  • That M12 battery will come in handy as a paperweight if no M12 tools owned by the purchaser.

Good, trade-quality tools at a tidy discount.

  • +3

Just here powerstacking with my dewalt boys minding our own business

  • +2

Looking into this a bit further and I think it's a better deal to buy the 10% off shop local card from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/750603
and use the gift cards to purchase the new gen 4 kit from Total Tools https://www.totaltools.com.au/milwaukee-mania/192806-milwauk…
Assuming you just buy $700 worth of gift cards it looks like $50 more for the gen 4 compared to the gen 3 in this deal might be worth it.

  • I remember buy a Gen3 5pc kit (+ angle grinder, circular saw and SDS) with 2x 5ah batteries for about double the price, with a free 12ah battery which was comically huge and heavy. I was switching from Makita to M18 and M12 at the time
