Welcome to the ultimate guide of the Google One subscription

Updates:

  • 28/06/2023 - New corrected AUD prices, which reflects the significant drop due to Turkey's current economy situation (this deal is an ALL TIME LOW!) All prices in this guide are current as of 28 June 2023.**
  • 28/06/2023 - Additional methods on sign-ups (for those who could not previously sign up via Google Pay, I've now found the solution by using a Turkey-based Virtual Mastercard).
  • 28/06/2023 - At the end of this post are many of the detailed guides I've created.

Reposting this deal from last year just in case anyone missed it, however this post will be better than the previous one and will include more detailed information to help those trying to jump on board the ship. Oh, and prices are even cheaper.

Modern problems require modern solutions. Like Xbox Game Passes, Spotify Premium, Youtube, Netflix, Discord, Google One, Microsoft 365, relocating (virtually of course) to Turkey is usually the best option, with some methods saving hundreds or thousands of dollars each year added up.

YES - you can share your Google One subscription with your Google Family Group, however, this may affect those who use an Android device (or any device that utilises the Google Play store). If anyone in your Google Family has an Android device, please see NOTES section below the end of the post description BEFORE signing up to this deal

Instructions (No Current Subscription)

Please read the following instructions carefully. I've tested it on iPhone and PC (windows), so here's my experience - and it took literally minutes.

Note: If you plan on sharing your Google One subscription with any family members (or others), you must add your Australian family members / accounts into a Google family group before signing up to Turkey Google One subscription, otherwise you will get the following error: "Looks like you're in a different country from the family manager". To add family members, go to: https://families.google.com/families

Step 1: Add any family members to your Google Family Group if needed: https://families.google.com/families

Step 2: Add a Google payment profile for Turkey if you don't have one yet. If needed, use a fake address generator to obtain a random Turkey address for the payment profile. You can create a new payment profile by following these steps: go to https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings and clicking the pen icon next to "Country/Region" and a link to create a new profile should pop up. You can then add details for the Turkish profile.

Step 3: Connect a VPN to the server in Turkey (see Notes section for suggestions)

Step 4: Go to https://one.google.com/about/plans and if it shows currency in TRY (Turkish Lira), continue choosing your membership. Pay using a credit/debit card (preferedly with no international fees)

  • Possible Problem 1: Prices are still showing in AUD or pricing initially shows in Turkish Lira but switches back to AUD after you select your plan
  • Possible Solution 1: You might see that the 3 plan columns show Australian pricing, but after selecting the desired plan and going to next screen, it might change to TRY currency. If this happens, then great - just proceed and pay. If it stays in AUD pricing, double check your VPN service or switch to another one. If this fails, you may have to delete your Australian payment profile (you can always make a new one after, but be aware that deleting your Australian profile may destroy all your Google Play Credits and possibly your previous app purchases as well - See Notes section below). Deleting your Australian payments profile will only affect you if you (the person signing up) is an Android user.

  • Possible Problem 2: Error message when paying "Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction, secure your account. Learn more about securing accounts"

  • Possible Solution 2: Turn off VPN then try to pay again. If this doesn't work, delete your debit/credit card off the payment profile and redo all the steps again - when you go to pay it will ask you to enter a new card - try and use a different one and it should work.

Step 5: Fly back home and turn off your VPN

Step 6: To share with family members, you need to turn on family sharing after signing up to share the storage. To do this, go to https://one.google.com/settings, then click "Manage Family Settings" and toggle it on.

Step 7: YOU'RE DONE! WOOO! Enjoy your savings :)

Instructions (Transferring from a different country)

Please read the following instructions carefully. I've tested it on iPhone and PC (windows), so here's my experience - and it took literally minutes.

Probably not the best to transfer as I’m not sure if signing up while having an active subscription will stack on, and there’s no point paying for a whole year if you still got like 5 months left (for example). If you have a current Australian Google One sub, best to cancel it, let the sub period expire then sign up fresh using Instructions above (rather than the one below)

Step 1: Go to https://play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions, locate your Google One subscription, click "Manage", then proceed to "Cancel Subscription". Once cancelled, the current subscription will continue until the end of the billing period. But you now have an option to subscribe back to Google One.

Step 2: Add any family members to your Google Family Group if needed: https://families.google.com/families

Step 3: Add a Google payment profile for Turkey if you don't have one yet.

Step 4: Connect a VPN to the server in Turkey (see Notes section for suggestions)

Step 5: Go to https://one.google.com/about/plans and if it shows currency in TRY (Turkish Lira), continue choosing your membership. Pay using a credit/debit card (preferedly with no international fees)

  • Possible Problem 1: Prices are still showing in AUD (or whatever India if you have Youtube Premium via India or pricing initially shows in Turkish Lira but switches back to AUD after you select your plan
Step 7: To share with family members, you need to turn on family sharing after signing up to share the storage. To do this, go to https://one.google.com/settings, then click "Manage Family Settings" and toggle it on.

Step 8: YOU'RE DONE! WOOO! Enjoy your savings :)

Notes (Important)

  • If everyone in the Google Family is an iPhone user, just follow the instructions above - there will be no problems, as deleting your Australian payment profile will not affect you at all.

If at least one account in the Google Family uses an Android Device/Google Play Store, please read this:

  • Once you sign up to Google One via Turkey, every Google account in the family will relocate to Turkey, even if the other accounts don’t have a Turkey payment profile. The only fix that I have seen right now is to delete the Turkey payment profile on the account that was used to sign up to Google One - that will revert all accounts to the Australian Play Store. However, be aware that deleting your Australian profile may destroy all your Google Play Credits and possibly your previous app purchases as well. However, we can think of a workaround below to make sure everyone in the family has access to the Australian Play Store after signing up to Google One:

    • If anyone in the family has an Android device using the Google Play Store:

We know that anyone in the family group can sign up to Google One and share it with the rest of the family. Given that it is likely the person signing up has to delete their Australian payment profile, use the account who is not an android (one who uses an iPhone/iOS device) to sign up (that way, deleting the Australian payment profile won't affect anything as iPhone users don't utilise the Google Play Store anyway). Do not use the family manager's account to sign up (if they are an Android user) because deleting the Australian payments profile could mean you may lose complete access to your Google Play Credits and possibly your previous app purchases. Follow the instructions section above, making sure you add a Turkey payment profile and remove your Australian payment profile. After signing up to Google One, share it with your family group as per instructions. At the end, delete your Turkey payment profile (and add a new Australian one in if you wish) and everyone in the family will have access again to the Australian Play Store (including the Family Manager, who was unaffected by this method). By deleting your Turkey payment method, the Google One subscription effectively cancels (you will still get the full year access before it expires) and you’ll just need to sign up again and redo this every year

  • If the above method does not work for some reason and you really need Australian apps, I guess the workaround for this would be to create another Google account purely for downloading apps from the Google Play Store

UPDATE: According to atlas:

To avoid all your devices changing to the Turkish play store, all you need to do is:

  1. Make sure the family manager is an Australian account
  2. Use a different account (ie. Burner account) to join the family and setup Turkish payment profile
  3. Setup Google One, share, and away you go.

Result: Main account gets shared storage and keeps Australian profile.

  • Most VPN services will connect to Turkey, unlike India. Those include NordVPN, Private Internet Access (PIA), free Windscribe Chrome extension (recommended), ExpressVPN, etc. If one doesn't work, use another VPN

    • If you're using Windscribe and it shows different currencies: keep turning the windscribe on and off. Each time you don't get TRY, turn it off and on, then refresh the Google One sign up page. You'll eventually land on TRY. Go to https://whatismyipaddress.com/ each time you turn it off/on and see if you land on Istanbul

FAQ

Q: Can the family manager see who is using what amount of storage?
A: Yes, you can view the breakdown here: https://one.google.com/storage

Q: Does the Family Manager have to be the one signing up to Google One?
A: No, anyone in the family can sign up to Google One and share it with the rest of the family.

Q: Will I get banned by Google?
A: There’s always a chance, however only a tiny number of people (<5) have actually gotten suspended by Google (see linked previous post in OP). Proceed at your own risk.

Please note the process can be easy for some people, harder for others, or may not work at all.

  • There is no need for aggression in instances where you are unable to subscribe to an international Netflix account. Share your experience so everyone can chip in and help out. There are plenty of examples where hacks shared on this platform do not work for some people, but may work for others:

    • Modem reset for faster internet,
    • Cash back program purchase tracking,
    • Price matching an unobtainable deal or price error,
    • Targeted bargains, and
    • Limited quantity items quickly or instant (bot) sellout.
  • Similarly we know there are cash back users who follow every single step for cash back (turn off ad blocker, have no items in cart, do not click other links, etc.) on their purchases and it does not work, its probably best to move on.There are many users who successfully use this hack and enjoy paying half the price of the Australian membership. Unfortunately there are also many users who have been unable to sign up to Netflix Turkey or Argentina. After all it is intended for people who reside in Turkey or Argentina. • In that case just simply leave the family and redo all the steps again (sans 1 of course).

I have test and confirm an account (even with Google One subscription) can leave and join a family many times it wishes as long as it doesn't not join another family in between.

        • +1

I guess I was just trying to say that that is not necessary.

If you have the burner account join the family first and then setup the Turkish payment profile, you can then keep it as is and not have to worry about it at renewal.

          • @atlas: Ah I see your point now. Indeed if I can purchase the plan while in the family it would save a lot of time (remove and add payment profile). But in my specific case I was unable to purchase any plan after joining the family. "There is an error in our backend" was always show up after clicking on any plan. I suspected the cause was someone else already has an ongoing Australian subscription but it was too much a hassle to check. Hence I improvised your instructions a little bit. Hope it may help someone.

    • Thanks @Squirtle - followed the steps you indicated and worked perfectly.

And as @atlas, just highlighting again to make sure you have added/joined the burner account to the family first otherwise you will hit problems.

    • +1

      Following the instructions here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13246657/redir

You can set and forget. The main difference is I added my burner account to the family first, then added a payment method with Turkish address.

When using the Google One app on that account, without VPN, it showed AUD pricing, but the actual Google Pay window showed ₺289.99. I went through with it, and sure enough on my bank account I was charged the Turkish price. Google One continues to tell me I'm signed up to the AUD price, but Google Pay subscription list shows my next payment in 2024 to be ₺289.99.

The storage is now fully shared across my family group, and I'm just leaving the burner account with the Turkish payment method.

    • How did you do 6. I couldnt do it, it wants me to add another payment card before I can remove the Turkish payment profile.

    • I tried this and got an email sent to the burner asking me to verify my account by providing some form of Turkish ID
I used a 28 deg card and used a random Turkish address when filling in the payment profile.
      What can I do?

      • I did it using this Redditors post and didn't have to use any Turkish ID at all. Might be worth another try with this method.

        • Do I need to wait for my current plan to expire or can I do this now?

          • @sammysamsam: I would guess it's better to cancel your current plan and wait for it to expire. That's what I did. How long have you got to go?

    • Thank you! I couldn't get it working the original way- I think because of Argentinian YouTube and an app subscription in AUD through the Family Manager account. This worked.

    • Ok so this worked for me BUT the annual fee hasn't been charged yet (because it forces me onto the first month free offer).
If I delete the TRY payment profile, how will that affect my subscription ie after the free month, will it charge the TRY amount on my Aus payment profile?
Please dont tell me I have to wait a month for the offer to be finished and then I can re-join the family.

  • This is like Konami codes for real life. Incredible.

  • Hey I'm keen on getting this just for storage for some online backup from my PC. Am I correct in understanding that this switches my google play store over to turkey? Does that mean I should create a separate google account for this?

    • Just read the first post. It has all the answers

  • Worked a charm. Thanks for the detailed write up & links!!!

  • Very well documented! Thanks OP!

  • is there an Argentina version of this google one cheap version similar to turkey one?
also, can I have both youtube premium and google one with turkey account?
currently have the Argentina youtube premium, unfortunately cant be added into the burner account.

    Thank you.

  • I have problem one. I have deleted all my Australian payment profiles and as soon as I login with my Gmail it triggers the au pricing. What's the best way around this?

  • +1

Thanks for this! Just got it setup.

    1. Created family group with my main gmail account as the manager
    2. Invited my family and additionally a burner account
    3. Logged into burner account, accepted family invite
    4. Used Windscribe VPN to go to Turkey; added a payment method using my Wise card and a fake address using the linked generator
    5. Purchased Google One on my burner account (home page showed AUD but when I clicked through to 'Get Started' the popup showed pricing in TRS. Purchased, confirmed I was billed in TRS (I use USD on my wise account, came out to ~$15 USD for 2TB)
    6. Disconnected from Windscribe VPN; Went to Google One settings on my burner account and shared with my family

Didn't take long at all and a huge discount, thank you!

    • Does this also mean your main account doesn't show Turkey store and shows AU?

Also follow up did you try to subscribe to youtube premium on the burner account too and share it up to your main account the manager?

    • With the burner account, do you need to create that while VPN is on with Turkey Survey or can that be created without VPN?

    • how long did it take the new storage to share to other accounts?

I did the sign up with a burner, bought the subscription and did the sharing but my other account (member, not manager) still shows 100% used of 15GB…

    • Hi. On your main account, what is the total storage? For some reason, on my main account, I couldn't see the 2TB storage that my burner account just signed up to

  • I have a problem here: my Google One payment methods are different from what I have in my Google payment methods. I figured it out those are from my Android payment methods long long time ago, however, when I tried to manage the methods, it took me to the main Google payment methods page and those Google One or Android payment methods are not there. Anyone has experienced this?

  • Great write-up, and thanks for all the tips from everyone.
Here's what I had to do. as I could not get my main to show TRL, and I didn't want to risk deleting my billing profiles etc.
Thanks atlas, for suggesting using an alternative account.

    • Used an old alt email, with no address/billing info, and set up fresh with turkey address, and changed the name to match my credit cards (for next step).

    • Added a Visa debit, as my Mastercard debit would not 'authorise' by my bank. (not sure if its a visa/MC issue or bank-specific)

    • I created the family group on my main acct, and invited my new turkey alt

    • It would not let me join the family group as I was in a different location. I had to add an Australian payment profile, and deleted the turkey one

    • Once joined the family, I just had to go into the alt, and share the storage with the family group.

    • Now fingers crossed, I'm getting 2TB for less than I was paying for 100GB. (have to wait till I'm billed to confirm)

  • When using @StarGrapper's method (without VPN), I seem to be running into an issue trying to upgrade my google one account.

In step #4 when I log in to google one with my phone using the turkey profile, it's telling me that I can't change my membership plan, that I have to "… talk to your plan manager"?

Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • Just a noob question, can 2 separate gmail account's storage be combined if they join the Family without having Google One subscription?

  • so I managed to do this

    • Possible Problem 2: Error message when paying "Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction, secure your account. Learn more about securing accounts"

    • Possible Solution 2: Turn off VPN then try to pay again. If this doesn't work, delete your debit/credit card off the payment profile and redo all the steps again - when you go to pay it will ask you to enter a new card - try and use a different one and it should work.

I got charged AUD22.09 on the annual 2TB plan which is good but when I checked my account I will be billed A$124.99/year. Do I need to do anything after this so that I don't get charged? Do I need to cancel it before the next billing date?

  • Couldn't get it to work. I kept getting USD even when connecting via VPN to Turkey with different providers (Windscribe and NordVPN).

  • Thanks, op. A bit of work involved in getting it all sorted but following @atlas method worked ok.

  • In my haste to set this up I deleted all my Aus profiles and found out later after reading the notes of the risk , sure enough I lost all my google credit. Is there any way to get it back now?

  • When creating a Turkey burner gmail account its asking for a Turkish phone number to send a text message to verify your account. How do you get around this? Or do you create it without Turkey VPN on?

    • +1

You can create an Australian account first with your number and then change it so that Payments Profile reflects to be Turkey.
Subscribe with VPN on, then create a new Payments Profile for Australia, and delete your Turkey profile.
Then you can be invited to the existing Family.

I used Squirtle's guide today and it worked well.

  • Windscribe didn't work for me but I used hide.me (free version) and it worked

  • I just want to add for future reference:

Since you are getting Google one account through Turkey, even the 2TB+ plans don't offer google's new VPN service. So don't get your hopes up lol.

    Just a PSA…

  • So I have set up a Burner account with a Turkish payment profile. It shows Google One storage in TRY.

From reading above posts, I should:
    1. Add to family using main gmail account as the family manager
    2. Sign up on Google One using burner account paying in TRY
    3. Turn on sharing in the burner account.
    4. Now everyone in the Google family gets access to the 2TB?

Since I run another Youtube family, I would prefer if no other members of the family has access to the 2TB of storage.
Is there a way to set this up?

If I use the burner account as the family manager, and invite my main account into that family of 2, does that mean my main account's Google play store will get changed to a turkish one?

    Thank you for everyone's help.

  • +1

I tried all these steps and I noticed when I turn on the VPN, it the Google One prices are in TRY. When I attempt to buy it, it changes back to AUD. I have 5 users in my Google Family all AUS based. My payment profile is Turkey though. How can I get around this issue? Cheers.

    • Was getting this same issue, Turns out I had an Australian payment profile as well as an Argentine one on the account with the Turkish payment profile. I deleted those and it worked. All prices in TRY as was able to subscribe.

  • +1

Please Note - there seems to be an issue with Turkey servers atm using Windscribe VPN. Server relocates to Prune (India) rather than Istanbul (Turkey), hence everyone is getting USA prices. Not sure when it will be fixed. I suggest using Hola or Urban VPN which works a charm :)

  • Can I use the same gmail account to get Google One storage from Turkey and Youtube premium from India?

    • I probably would have tried this first from what I learnt when creating a burner account and signing up. I think you can just create another Turkey payment profile on current account and from a Turkey VPN click on the link https://one.google.com/about/plans and sign up that way. Let us know if it works?

  • I tried OPs method a number of times, but just couldn't get it to work. I'm sure I was doing something wrong, but it was doing my head in and I quit. By chance, I saw this on Reddit, tried it and it worked first time. I still have no idea why, as both processes look similar, but as an old fart at 68 years of age, I think that's understandable.

    • Thanks I finally done this and followed your instructions. However I stuffed up, ended up accepting the invite first only to see I didn't get the storage. In hindsight what I should have done was go to the cog wheel and enable the storage and this probably would have worked without following 2nd half of the instructions.

Instead I ended up leaving the family group and rejoining but I was not hopeful as I saw the you can only join 1 family per 12 month warning and initially kept getting accounts need to be in the same country. I ended up deleting the Turkey payment profile on burner account like your instruction said and creating couple of other country profiles that matched (Aus and India for YouTube premium). I Also enabled storage sharing then it worked.

  • No 5 TB plan for annual?

  • Hey! I'd already signed up with the burner account as the family manager, and my main Australian account as a secondary member of the family group.

I'd like to be able to download Australian apps on my main account, is there an easy way to switch who is the main family group member?

I remember it was a bit of a mess around adding myself to the family group in the first place (I think we all had to be Australian first, then switch the main burner to Turkey after I was in the family group, but took a lot of fiddling).

I also have youtube going monthly through this burner account.

    • @I Smell Pennies hey mate, any ideas here for somehow promoting a third party Australian account to family manager, or easily migrating to a new family with a Turkish burner account+main Aus account? Feel like if anyone knows how to do this, it'll be you!

Been trying to figure out a way to do this without starting the whole thing from scratch (which I remember took almost a full day to work successfully, and have also prepaid for heaps of stuff on this account already)

I'm not able to download certain apps on my Aus account, and am having problems adding things like my Australian cards to tap and pay. Can't seem to think of any options other than just leave the group, give up all my purchases, and start again with a brand new Turkish burner.

  • Hi guys, I just couldn't get mine to work, keep getting error something wrong on our end
I used an old google email account, joined family group, deleted Oz profile, added Turkey payment profile and keep payment using 28degrees, went to google one, all plans showed up as Aud regardless i have Windscribe and Surfshark vpn on or off, cannot proceed any further as keep getting error something wrong on our end
Any ideas how to go pass this one.

    • +1

Have you tried the method from Reddit that I linked above?

      • Hi, finally got the subscription to work following the one you posted but I have to create a few accounts before getting it to work, however auto renew no longer work and if want to upgrade the plan all plan are now shown is Aud before I no longer have the Turkey profile that I used to bough the subscription. So when the subscription expired I would have to either create another subscription account then repeat again

        • Yes, that is correct, but I think the saving is worth the effort. If you are the only one using the storage, perhaps you could try what one of the other redditors did and that was to not set it up as a family share and leave it as a Turkey account.

          • @wombat1955: I could not do it as I ran out of phone numbers to use… I'll try again next year!

  • So for anyone who have google account banned. Is that for all in the family or only the one who subscribe ??

  • So… after much trying and failing I finally installed Hola VPN, connected to a Turkey server, created a new Turkey account and subscribed for the annual 289 TRY 2TB plan. Don't want to have to manually redo/risk the process annually so I will just use this account as a standalone cloud storage facility.

  • So, thanks for instruction.
The burner account needs to be created using VPN (turkey servers) or can that be created without VPN (i.e. using Australian internet)

  • I'm about to use my 100GB, and looking at using this method to get the 2TB but I'm also hella scared about google deactivating or banning my account using this method how irrational of a fear is this? Is it really likely to occur at all? Have important photos and videos I don't really want to put into a hard drive or ssd I may forget or lose

    Thanks

It's a non-zero percentage risk, and Google has demonstrated a history of disabling people's Google accounts (unrelated to this offer, but on other issues) preventing them from email access etc. I would say if you're very risk averse, maybe don't.

Having said that, my Google account is also very very important and I could not risk losing it. However, after many months of deliberating on this, I pulled the trigger - but in the safest way possible that a lot here are doing.

Create a burner Google account, that creates a Google Family. With the burner account as the Family Manager, invite your real Google account as a family member, do the process described in the post/comments, and then share your Google One storage as the family manager to all family members. This is a little bit safer because now if something was to happen to the burner account due to circumventing Google's regional pricing, your main Google account should have a better chance of surviving anything. I don't imagine Google would burn all Family Members accounts if there are dodgy Family Managers. There are lots of people around the internet that share Google One Family accounts (as with Spotify Family accounts, Nintendo Switch Family accounts etc.) so I doubt they would.

      • Thanks so much for this idea that seems like a fantastic alternative, I agree in thinking that Google would deactivate the burner as opposed to any other "family" members that's perfect thanks for your help Smokey

      • Your method is a little different to what the others posted. You are using your burner account (with Turkish payment profile) as the family manager whilst others are using their main account (with Australian payment profile) as the family manager.

I was wondering when your main account joined the family group created by the burner account, did it force your payment profile to change to turkish as well?
Or did you have to change your burner account to an Australian payment profile before inviting the main account to the family group?

Just curious can your main account be the manager of another family, and be part of the family managed by the burner account at the same time?

        • Hmm, it's an interesting behaviour. I can confirm the following:

          • On my main account, I have a Turkey Payment Profile (But I am unsure if this was created as part of the family group, or from other previous deals/attempts)
          • If I go to check out Google One pricing on https://one.google.com/about/plans from my main account, I still do see pricing in Turkish currency.
          • My main account also has 200GB via a grandfathered Australian purchase, so I have in total 2.2TB on my main account.

As for whether or not my main account by a manage of another family, I can confirm that you cannot create another family if you are already in a family managed by someone else as it does not give me an option to create a new family under my main account.

          • @SmokeyTheCorgi: I already subscribed to the 2TB plan on the burner account (Turkish payment profile), now I am going to add it to the family managed by my main account (Aus payment profile).

My question is if I just add a second Aus payment profile to my burner account, before adding it to the family, do you think that would be fine and won't result in changing the payment profile of all family members to the Turkish one?
Or do you think we will still need to remove the Turkish payment profile first before adding to the family?

Thank you very much for your help

            • @concento: I see what you're asking. I can't confirm one way or another, so you'll just have to try.

My total guess is it should be okay. Add the AU payment profile, switch the main payment profile in the burner account to AU, and try adding the burner account to the AU family managed by your main account.

              Good luck.

              • @SmokeyTheCorgi: Thanks I thought the same but in the payment profile setting it doesn't seem to let you pick which one is the "primary" payment profile. It only lets you add or delete a payment profile. Am I missing something?

                • @concento: In the payment profile settings, if you have multiple payment profiles, there should be a drop down arrow that you can press that will list all the payment profiles with a radio button next to them. If you click on the radio button, that selected payment profile will be the default profile for Google transactions.

If you don't see the drop down because you only have 1 profile, go the Settings in the Google Payment, scroll down to the country/region and click the Pen Icon to select a new country. That will create a new payment profile, where you can select Australia and fill out the necessary info. Be sure to confirm after creating the profile that it is the default one.

But again, I can't confirm if this will or won't change your payment profile on the other family member.

  • Can someone confirm if I sign up for the 2Tb say today, can I get 10% back on pixel bought through the play store or do I need to wait 30 days, please?

I nearly used this hack to sign up for the annual 100GB plan at ~$4.50 but thought it's not worth the risk of getting my account deleted/banned by Google so I'm now doing it legit and paying $24.99 per year. So the saving is only about $20 per year for the 100GB annual plan which isn't worth the risk of getting all my data deleted

    • Exactly, the risk is not worth the (small) reward in my opinion. Moreover, what happens when you can't renew using the same hack and then you are no longer able to use the smaller plans? Might even be a ploy by Google themselves to sell the larger plans and then patch the deal after a year.

  • Tried using another burnt account within the family group. When subscribing, it says contact family plan manager. So can't move ahead with this scenario…

  • after one year, will it renew at the SAME price?

    • got the renewal for 2 TB (signed up in July last year) - same price TRY 289.99 for the upcoming year

  • I've tried this multiple times with two different VPNs located in turkey. The most I can get it to change is into russian RUB even when IP address says im located in Turkey.

Even when continuing through to the price, it still shows in AUD. Tried the burner account, removing AUD payments and entering in turkey details. Has anyone managed to get this to work?

  • Awesome deal.

I've got Google Home set up at my place with a doorbell, lights etc.
My mates also have their own Google Home setup at their place with the same thing.

If I invite my mates to the 'family' and do this deal, will they lose access to their Google Home or will they just be able to have multiple 'google homes'.

Follow up question to that - if they can have multiple homes (which I assume they will be able to) can they be removed or can they elect to leave the home without leaving the 'family'?

  • I managed to do this with a brand new account. But it signed up to a trial for the storage at ₺14. I had to remove the payment methods to be able to add to my family, which I did. Now i want to add the payment profile back, but it wont let me verify the card. Anyone else have this issue? I was using a wise card. If I use an australian card, does it charge the full amount or will it charge the ₺289.99 annual amount?

  • Note: If you plan on sharing your Google One subscription with any family members (or others), you must add your Australian family members / accounts into a Google family group before signing up to Turkey Google One subscription, otherwise you will get the following error: "Looks like you're in a different country from the family manager".

Is this barrier something that can be navigated? I want to start the Google One family sub now but one of the accounts cannot move into this family until June 2023.

  • This is incredibly well documented. I followed this when it was published and finally had my annual Google One expire. All activated on the 200gb Family plan for $8.80aud. Thank you OP! Amazing!

  • Thanks y'all - I had a few goes and it took a while to sort out, but the below steps worked for me!

    in TL:DR fashion:

    • Existing AU Family Manager Account -> with an Active Sub :-(. Proceeded to "cancel" sub.
    • Invited new burner account which had a Turkey Payment Profile (this account was created whilst connected to Turkey VPN)
    • Stopped Sharing Storage on AU Family Manager Account (if you don't do this, Burner account will see "refer to Manager") - this step performed on iOS app (Google One), no VPN.
    • Signed up on Burner Account for $124 - but no, it changes to Lira on next screen! 14.99 Lira for 1 month and 12 months for 289.99 Lira. Yay! - this step performed on iOS app (Google One), no VPN.
    • Got Burner Account to Share Storage - this step performed on iOS app (Google One), no VPN.

    Everyone gets access to 2TB!

    • Hi. For some reason, in my main account, I cannot see the 2TB that my burner account just signed up for. Is there anything else that I need to do?

  • Can no longer see 100gb plan, lowest is 200 for 115.99/year

Edit: Also lost access to Google VPN

  • After the case where Google cancelled a persons account because their doctor requested photos of their child's groin area for diagnosis and the photo synced to Google Photos, I'll never willingly sync my data to the cloud.

Imagine losing your email account with no recourse - financial issues, password resets, everything tied to it.

Better to have a locally hosted cloud.

  • Is the Google Store 10% credit working immediately upon subscription? It's neither visible on check out or in the Google One "Benefits" tab right after subscribing

  • This worked for me today using this method

    • Bring up an incognito browser
    • Make a new random Google account with Turkey VPN after selecting a plan here - choose Aussie number when it asks in signup
    • Go to your normal browser and invite the new acc to your family with your normal account - turn off VPN when accepting or it will error saying you are in a different country
    • Go to Google One site, with VPN on - Turkey pricing should be there on the new account
    • Subscribe to Google One, will apply to the family you are in but you MUST be in it first. It was about $22/year for 2TB storage.
    • Then share your Google storage here
    • Enjoy.
    • Hey does this work if you cancelled your existing subscription. I followed the steps but i can't share it from the burner account to my main account.]

EDIT: got it working by switching a toggle in the settings.

So, my burner account shares the Google One membership - this wouldn't affect any of my data in my main account right?

      • Yep wouldn't affect anything in the main account

        • Yep, I will just let the existing subscription on my main account expire then.

  • Is there a way around "You can only switch to a different family group once every 12 months"?

I had the family group working properly for YouTube premium with the burner account as the manager. Because of this, my main account couldn't install Australian apps (I know a way around this was having a seperate Australian account).
So I thought of creating a new family group from my main account after leaving the family group but it didnt let me due to the 12 month penalty.

  • Hey after signing up, can i delete my turkey payment profile?

    • you can but it won’t renew next year

      • Thanks for the reply mate. This trick saved me some money.
But now all my play is Turkey Based. I created a AU payment profile (2 profiles, AU & Turkey) and selected the AU profile as my default profile but my Play Store is still Turkey based. any solution for this?

    Thanks for the write up!

Once this is set up and all, would I still get 10% back on Google Store purchases? Couldn't really work out an answer from the comments

  • Got the renewal for 2 TB (signed up in July last year) - same price TRY 289.99 for the upcoming year

Can I pay with play store credit

  • +1

Thanks OP, took some time to get it all set up but got it working in the end.

  • Hello, it keep showing pounds for me, using pure VPN.

    • Hi, check VPN again
remove old unnecessary payment profile (if any from India) you signed up earlier

  • I followed this guide back in November and didnt read or see the instruction regarding android and play store issues. Now my playstore on my phone is stuck on turkey and I cant download apps I need. I believe I can change back after 1 year i.e. November 23. I have tried signing in with a separate Australia based google account but playstore was still in Turkey. Is there anything I can do or simply wait for the year to be up?

    • +1

Creating a second Google account based in Aus, and switching to that in the Play Store worked for me.

Once the year was up I resubscribed to Google One via my Turkey Payment Profile, then deleted the profile and everything reverted back to Australian - subs, purchases and reward credit all stayed with the account.

  • They removed the updated instructions and referred this as a duplicate… So misses the MasterCard virtual instructions

I am finding the private internet access VPN is crappy to use for turkey. Too hard to get a working IP that is recognised properly and not known by Google.
