    No capacitor batttery humms

  • I've got a Sandisk Max Endurance microSD and that's been fine… although I started having trouble using any of their regular cards so I wouldn't get anything less than High Endurance if you go Sandisk.

no capacitor. do not buy. source: have two useless dashcams sitting in the cupboard because they lose their footage when the engine turns off

    • could you please recommend some good dashcam with capacitor? :)

    • +3

What do you mean lose footage? It doesn't record when its off but I've never lost footage as its saved to the card capacitor or no capacitor.

        1. turn on car 2. turn on camera 3. turn off car 4. last few seconds not saved 5. imagine this happening in a crash.

fwiw i had a capacitor one years ago that never had this issue. auto on and auto save when engine turned off.

Have used one of these (if this is an 'upgrade' version, we may have the 'original' version) in the car for ~3 years and still works perfectly fine.
Car is stored outside, gets baked in summer and frozen in winter, no issues at all with the battery - nor have I seen actual and real evidence in regard to the capacitor/battery argument.
Ours talks in Chinese when it's turned on but that is not much of an annoyance.

WiFi has failed on our much more expensive Australian branded capacitor camera in the other car, making it essentially useless because the time/date can't be updated and it tells you to fix such every 5 mins (which turns out to be more annoying then screaming kids in the back).

    • I've got one of the originals from indiegogo, no Chinese on startup but it's worked flawlessly.

      Is this 1S model worse?

You can flash it with the english firmware to change that, I did no dramas

    • +1 to this. I've had the original version of this for years and it's been fantastic. I have also flashed it with the English firmware.

Using this for few years in my cars, never had any issue.

  • Would sandisk high endurance be a good micro SD card? Heard Sandisk has reliability issues

    • The original post suggests not to use SanDisk Cards. So Likely not a good idea.

      • Not for this dashcam. I have another brand of dashcam that I want to use it with.

  • I bought one from the previous deal and it's great!

Bad thing is the max it record is in 3min intervals, and the fact you have to download the footage to your phone via it's in buit wifi (which is very slowwww). The easiest way is to take out the MicroSD card and plug into your PC, but you have unplug the power to get to the micro SD card easier.

Not sure if any of the above is resolved in this upgraded version, but for me it's absolutely a bargain and doing it's job so far. Summer is the biggest test of a dash cam in Australia, but so far no issues. (usually it's the screen to start fading / dim / go weird)

    • I have had a few of these as well and haven't really had any issues. I've only ever needed to retrieve footage a couple of times. If you only ever want to retrieve footage in the event of an accident or something spectacular, then the negatives you mentioned aren't really dealbreakers. I also tend to take the MicroSD out and plug into a device to get the footage.

Thinking about buying another one for when I inevitably get another car…

      • Sorry, my niggles are just that, they are so trivial, but they were the only negatives I can list! Happy with it.

        • Mine got annoyed sometime, it announce "Wifi has been turn off" then "Wifi is on", also out of no where "taking picture"… other than these all good for the past 5 years.

  • Limited on the Storage space 32G and 64GB only.

    • I plugged 128GB and 256GB sd both working fine on the original much older version, not sure what do you mean 32 & 64GB only on a upgraded version…

      • I don't how you make the older version to accept 128GB and 256GB but

Max External Card Supported: TF 64G (not included)

It only supported upto 64GB unless I'm mistaken.

        • Plug the SD card in and it just work after format….

Had mine for less than 2 years and got the green light of death. A search on the internet says it's a regular issue. I decided to buy the newer m300 instead.
