Snowball mic looks good at $10

  • +2

Bluetooth Keyboard with trackpad is good space saver for smart tv.

    • +2

What makes the OP or you think this is a Bluetooth keyboard?
There is no mention of the word Bluetooth anywhere on the listing.
In fact, it specifies and depicts a USB receiver.

      • -7

Calm down, bro. Maybe it's not bluetooth keyboard but I have seen your red teeth.

      • +1

I've corrected the title and description now.

        • Thanks for all your effort on this post.
I wasn't complaining, just asking if it did indeed have BT.

      • +1

I have it. It's definitely not Bluetooth

        • +1

          Thanks for confirming.

  • Link to monitor in OP is wrong. Should be this

    • If its IPS then its a steal!

      • Yes it is. How many you buying?

      • Not rly

    • +2

      Shame it's only fullhd :(

      • +1

I know the tech specs say full hd, but if you scroll down a bit to features it says "WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution: Crisp and clear textures". So it's a bit confusing.

        • +1

Just google the model, saddly this ones is Full HD, which might not look too good on a 32in monitor

  • Bought a couple of the monitors

  • Those are CHEAP monitors… 31.5" 1440p IPS. The only downside is 60hz, but at that price, they are cheap.

    • Googling the monitor model shows it's full HD, so 1920x1080p

    • +1

Seems like there is some confusion in the description, mentions both 1080 and 1440p resolutions. Did some research and the 1440p version is called Acer EB321HQU

        Only Full HD
There us an extra "a" after the model number which seems to missing here

        • -1

what does the extra "a" do? make it 4k?

          • @Poor Ass: I have the same model monitor i bought at start of covid.
It's 1080p and it does not look good.

            • @opelcalibra: Oh yeah, i just see this now. So it is 1080p, i only saw the 1440p when i looked at it previously. Comparitively to what you pay for it elsewhere it's still cheapish, but no way near what i thought it was when 1440p.

  • Monitor discussed already in previous thread

Yeah it's cheap but not really worth it imo considering previous 32" bargains.

  • +3

Thanks OP, bought web cam for monitoring my 3D printer. The ring light is a bonus that saves me leaving room light on while printing.

  • +1

    Monitor not great considering 1080p

    Nice summary

Note that if your after one of the selfie tripods, your better to check out Aldi. They have one discounted to $20 that comes with a remote for the led (along with color LEDs instead of just white). Ive seen it at 3/4 stores I've visited in the last fortnight so there's plenty around

  • Thanks. Picked up the webcam and snowball mic. Delivery free with onepass 30 day trial.

  • The webcam looks OK… surely it's got to be better than my 15yr old logitech webcam… the fake backgrounds in MS Teams is higher res than me when I use that old webcam!

  • Thanks OP. Just picked up 45 bucks worth of kit and saved 129 bucks.

    • What sort of kit you running these days my guy?

  • The Switch charging case is good value, not only for the battery but also for the decent Joy-con grips that are cheaper than most everything out there.

  • The ergonomic keyboard is very good and posted elsewhere for $19/$15. It's the same except for colour and printing at the back as the Kogan one that was discounted to $5 recently.

  • Fatal flaw with the webcam if you use Discord: Goes to a green screen half the time. You have to keep turning it on and off with the preview background screen to eventually get it working again. Works fine on Zoom, OBS, Windows 10 camera app. Returning mine.

    • Has anyone else has this issue?

      • See my reply to OzBarAnon below. It's a known issue with Discord and some cheaper webcams.

    • Have you tested with another webcam to ensure that it's actually a fault with this device and not with Discord? Especially seeing as you listed a bunch of other software that seem to work just fine with it.

      • +2

I spent a lot of time on it yesterday.

Yes. Logitech webcam is fine. The Kmart webcam was tested on 2 PCs and both had the issue. It's definitely a Discord init bug with cheaper webcams and not specific to this model. But as it hasn't been fixed in years I don't expect Discord ever will bother.

There are 2 known workarounds if you want to use this camera. Both are too much of a pain for me, and the first one is unprofessional for work settings.
        1. Rapidly turn the wecam on and off using the Discord button until it works.
        OR
        2. Install OBS, configure a scene with just the webcam, and use the OBS virtiual webcam.

This assumes your camera privacy settings in Windows are set up to allow Discord to use the camera.

        Some discussion
        https://www.reddit.com/r/discordapp/comments/ihnnlw/comment/…

Here's video of the method where you turn the camera on and off.
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IG0Xo00X258
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vskm79Ot6mA

I found video for setting it up with OBS but it uses an out of date plugin. If you know how to use OBS, virtual camera is built into the latest versions.

Comprehensive set of steps. As far as I can tell reinstalling the same default driver won't help you though. The rapid clicking method should be higher up.

Thanks for doing the legwork so I didn't have to. Might get it anyway seeing as I only use discord for social purposes and have a separate work laptop with its own webcam.

          • +1

@OzBarAnon: You're welcome. I did the legwork for me, and went through my browser history to write it up, so it wasn't a huge inconvenience.

The webcam isn't terrible. A little grainy and I didn't see a change when switching resolution from 1080p to 720p. But for the price it's still a bargain. I'd have bought multiple if not for the fact that i already have webcams and this bug would drive me insane.

Might want to check Windows 11 support. I don't have access to Win 11 to test.

Enjoy it if you get it.

            • @syousef: I bought the webcam and agree it isn't terrible. I couldn't get it to do 1080p; the highest resolution I could get was 1280x720.

  • Anyone know if the usb modem is unlocked?

    • +1

I bought one in 2019 and it was unlocked. However things may have changed.

  • +2

$5 keyboard with touchpad seems to be made of metal on the top. Definitely was expecting a full plastic build. Not bad. Probably best $5 ever spent in a while lol.

    • Yeah I was pleasantly surprised too. Replaces one of my 2 Logitech K400R's that I got for $10 from Australia Post. Fallen off the ottoman so many times and one of the keys eventually stopped working. Still had the original batteries in it too. And they leaked lol. The other one I bought is still in the box. But I can't be bothered to find it lol.

    • got mine today and was very surprised as well

  • Thanks, tried to order click and collect from my local for a couple of things last night and it was almost immediately cancelled. Walked in today and grabbed them easily and a couple of other things. Probably automated due to clearance status but annoying still…

  • Picked up the webcam yesterday.
Works with windows 10 and 11 out of the box, only tested with Zoom and camera app so far.
Image quality is pretty good, better than 720p HP laptop webcam but not as good as good as Surface's 1080p one.
    For $10 very happy
