Similar Seiko version $275 @Starbuy, weekend flash deal though

    • Cool but that's 39.4mm though, so it's good for skinny wrists.

Request to WatchNerd. Please post some Ladies watch deals. Valentines day is coming

        • +3

Another 39mm option is the Addiesdive Auto Pilot (Sapphire) - US$65.34 + GST delivered (~A$100.80).

39mm is not too big for a lady, there are no rules. Otherwise check out the Starbuy weekend sale.

@WatchNerd: Truth. My wife has stated that she will be wearing my recently acquired Steeldive SD1970

          • @WatchNerd: Hey WN, you seem to have a lot of experience with this brand. How good is the qc one these? What about the bracelets?

I like the no logo with bracelet, and for $100, I can try to mod the crown and dial without worrying too much if I mess up. And swap to a leather ot nato

@rosebank: I don't know anything about watches, why would you think that?

I buy all my genuine watches from this store.

              • @WatchNerd: I not sure if I don't understand your humour or something, but thanks for your help I guess?

I've seen you post many Addiesdive watches, I'm seriously interested in one, and my questions are genuine.

                • @rosebank: Haha I'm just being silly because I haven't bought that watch. I mainly read lots of reviews & watch youtube reviews before posting. There are plenty reviews on Aliexpress.

                  • @WatchNerd: Ok cool. But in general, how good are the bracelets? and lume? on the other ones you've posted. I'd rather get a quick answer from you, than reading Ali reviews.

@rosebank: The only Addiesdive watch I have bought is the auto dive watch (SD1970) so I couldn't confirm whether the build quality, bracelet or lume translates to other models. But if I was to go off that one then I have nothing negative to say.

Iwc vibes from this timepiece asides from the large minute arabic numeral

    • +1

This is a Type-B Flieger. Laco, Stowa still make them, maybe others, I can't remember all the original flieger manufacturers. IWC don't do Bs afaik

      • +1

Probably explains the larger minute set on the outside. IWC use A.
I learnt something from you thanks

        • +1

Np, my mate has one of the older IWC Pilots. Nice watch

          • +1

@rosebank: So are these watch face styles called "Pilot" watches?
I was wondering why the minute markers were bigger and got priority over the tiny hour markers.

I guess it kind of makes sense if you are in a fighter jet (or older military aircraft) you might be in a situation where your fuel has XX minutes of flight left, so it's important to quickly see the minute markers?

  • Nice flieger. Would buy if no logo, and onion or diamond crown.

    • +1

There are others on Aliexpress with those crowns. For example = US$59.28 + GST delivered.
The last 2 look awesome with no logo & blue hands.

      • +1

The no logo Type A looks good, and the blue on the hands is a nice touch, I think I'll get this one. Thanks again!

      • I found this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001051137860.html?spm=5261.…

Pros: more accurate blue on hands, lume looks better, onion crown was more common on Type-A

        Cons: 42mm, Quartz, costs more

The cons aren't dealbreakers, 42 isn't too big and will probably make it feel like I'm wearing a proper 45mm flieger. Quartz is whatever, idc

This is a tough one. I'm gonna have to think about this

      • I just wish it didn't have a date. A flieger shouldn't have a date (to my thinking). I've seen a few somewhat decent looking 42mm type A dials recently, but they're all in the more modern case style (which isn't a bad thing by any means), I wouldn't mine a more authentic looking case like a Laco on the cheap.

  • The Orient RA-AC0E07S10A on Amazon US says it doesn't ship to my Australian address and Amazon US via AU is $377.85

    • My link in the description goes to Amazon AU. Look to the right of the screen & you will see $217.54.
The green dial is actually cheaper $202.46 @Amazon Warehouse (1 in stock) but it's used, most likely worn once & returned.

  • If it was a true Orient before it was taken over by Seiko then yes
