Woolworths Gift Card with Expiry

I recently received $200 worth of e-Giftcards from Woolworths as part of the energy sign up deal with Econnex: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/731257

The gift cards have an expiration date of 3 months, however the problem is I'm going overseas this week for 4 months. Econnex and Woolworths can't extend the expiry or issue a new gift card with a longer expiry. I was told to use the gift cards before I leave, but I can't spend $200 on groceries in the next few days. Since I can't buy a new gift card with the gift cards, is there a way I can somehow transfer the funds to another card or extend the expiry?

Give (or sell) it to someone else. Any family or anyone that usually shops at Woolies? With the price of groceries these days, $200 can be spent pretty easily!

Place multiple online orders (minimum $30) and cancel them later for store credits (3 years validity).

Find something exact $10, $20 for easy calculation.

    • Does Woolies charge cancellation or refund fees if I cancel an order?

Refund in a store credit code for eGCs and/or $EDR spend. No other charges if it is not so close to the pick up time.

Pick up orders, only items cost. Set the pick up date as far as possible. You may cancel the orders in a slow pace, like one a day. I am not sure if doing many cancelations in a short period may cause any other unknown issues.

  • Well, the best thing you could do here is place an online order (ww app/website) worth $200 using your gift card.
Cancel it immediately after, they’ll generate $200 in woolworths online credit for you ( that has a long validity to it)

Or alternatively, I am happy to swap mine (no expiry on those) for yours if that helps you.
I do shop a lot for the business etc and go through gift cards pretty quick.
    Good luck.

Edit - I just realised you made a duplicate account just to post this..
Sorry, can’t do the swap anymore.
WW online credit is still an option for you though.

That’s mighty generous of you to offer to swap cards with someone who has been a member for less than an hour.

      Edit - You edited…

      • lol true, I did edit my comment right after I took notice of the op’s account…

    • I am not sure that it issues you remaining balance credits if you don't spend $200 later. Hence, I prefer multiple $30, $40, $50 shops.

Well, you can use that same $200 coupon code for multiple online orders…it just keeps deducting from it.

It’s not a one-time use situation with them.

Thanks for the info. I partially redeemed a coupon online today and it does have remaining balance on it.

Online shopping minimum is $50 now.

            @Neoika:

Online shopping minimum is $50 now.

I know, they increased the limit just a few days ago.. So annoying.

@Gervais fanboy yea I did just make an account to post this as I'm normally on ozbargain for the deals. Thanks for your generous swap offer but I think $200 credit is a good idea so I'll do that

Stock up on non-perishables like toilet paper, paper towels, soap, laundry detergent, dishwashing tablets, canned goods?

Yep, exactly this. I do this when these sorts of items on special anyway and/or if I need a minimum purchase for some reward or other.

  • buy booooze

  • Sell in classifieds

  • Buy 125 long life milks.

    • LoL never ever seen those before haha, may be they need a garage in house to feed 100 people a day.

  • The gift cards have an expiration date of 3 months, however the problem is I'm going overseas this week for 4 months.

    Lucky you.

Econnex and Woolworths can't extend the expiry or issue a new gift card with a longer expiry. I was told to use the gift cards before I leave, but I can't spend $200 on groceries in the next few days

I'm sure you can find lots of stuff to buy at Woolworths that won't expire while you are gone. Cleaning products, washing powder, toilet paper, tinned food, sauces etc.

Or sell it at a discount.
