Motorola G51 5G 128GB $199 (Was $249) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

471

Repeat of an earlier deal this time in Indigo Blue only.

From the last deal:

Join JB Hi-Fi Perks and Get $10 Voucher (Valid for 28 Days, No Minimum Spend, Exclusion Apply) @ JB Hi-Fi

Seems the best phone around that price at JB HiFi but it would be nice if was cheaper given that the time available for Android updates is reduced by a few more months since then.

The link says it was $319. They being disingenuous?

    • No. OP copied the title from the last deal.

      The regular price is $399.

JB shows 'was' as the the previous ticketed price rather than the RRP.

    • So now they've increased the everyday price to $349. I wonder what the "was price" will be shown as in the next sale. Just for the record I'll confirm that I also saw that $319. I'll be interested to see comments about what people are able to negotiate the price down to.

I was just repeating the deal text from the last deal. Seems likely they are. According to the Wayback machine it was $249 at least at store 41 on 30/6/2022 (blink and you'll miss it)

Here's their standard disclaimer from their catalogues which I suppose gives them a get out of gaol card from the ACCC:
"As we negotiate on price, products are likely to have sold below ticketed/advertised price in stores prior to the discount offer."

  • Right. Seems like a good deal at this price.

  • great phone for the price, I bought one in sept last year because if was reduced to 199. Used a perks code to drop it 10 dollars.

    G82 for $200 or bust 😆

    • +2

Lol don’t think it’s gonna be that low as that deal was a pricing error.

    • +2

Oh how i wish. Im getting me another for that price.

    • +3

Came for the g82 comment.. in all honesty, how is this phone worse than that one? I have both the g50 and g82 and dont really see much of a difference

      • +3

The amoled screen alone makes a big difference.

      • +2

G82 has a bunch of features the G50 doesent. Major one being the amoled screen, also has 30w charging, faster processor, more internal memory, covers a few more LTE bands, 2gb more ram. They look almost identical but the internals are quite different.

i got this phone for 199 a few month back, its really good. lasts for 2 days on one charge and does everything just fine! i cant believe morons actually spend close to 1k on a 'flagship' phone

    • -1

      2 days in standby maybe

Funny that it's the first one to die in this test at just 5hrs and 30 mins..

I can't believe Mormons try to compare these phones against flagship phones that get 2.5x the battery life :)

      • +1

        Mormons comparing phones?

        • +2

          Respect your elders.

    • -3

Let's do a camera test against my 14 Pro Max. Maybe then you'll start to understand why lol.

    • +1

If it lasts 2 days on a charge and does everything "just fine" then you probably don't use your phone that much.

Nowadays many people carry their phone 24/7 and are on it multiple hours a day.

In such a use case spending 800 extra dollars for even slight improvements is not the actions of a moron.

Phones would be the best bang for buck purchase 90% of people make, even if they are spending 2k on a flagship

      • +1

carry phone 24/7 is a definetely sign of mormon

wasting life on a stupid gadget is stupid by itself
but paying 2k for "flagship" which will be outdated in a year is double mormon

        • depends.

Fold phone useful for lots of things.charts, spreadsheets, etc

If it increases your productivity then its not double mormon

  • dem thats big

  • Has it fixed the issue reported with boost sims not working?

    • +1

not with the G82 they havent so not sure about this, tried my sim woudnt work. Went and got a $2 sim. Also didnt work. Have tried hard resets and firmware updates but still goes 5G to 4G to nothing within one second.

  • +5

Showing as $349 for me? Deal is expired?

  • Bought this in the last deal, decent phone. Photos and vidoes are lacking a bit though, so we ended up upgrading. If you don't need a decent camera (and I assume gaming), then this is a decent phone.

  • +1

I still cant get my boost sim running in my G82 5G but it works in my G9 Plus :(

    • +1

Cool, so you have a new phone that's not fit for purpose.

      • +1

correct, been a nightmare, was fine on Amaysim and ported to boost and tried everything from forums on whirpool. Purchased a new $2 sim and that also didnt work. Boost have sent me another sim to try as i read some people had done that and it fixed the problem. It is crap cause it works well in my old G9Plus but I of course want to use it in my new phone and switch to boost and have 5G.

  • +1

    It's $349 now👎

  • +1

    It's bloody showing $349

    • +1

That was the quick, only 6 hours? Saw this $199 price after midnight.

      • +3

        Price adjustment error? Intern maybe?

  • -5

deal posted at 1am and according to above posts expired some time before 730am, sounds like BS

  • I googled Moto G51 just now. It has a JB ad with the $199 price but when you click the link it shows as $349 on the JB site.

  • It has since reverted back to $349 in the Google ad.

  • Anyone get a screenshot for claiming on 28 degrees price protection?

  • +1

I had my G51 with boost 5G. And be really happy with for 6 months if using. Very Good battery and solid build. Thus, I drop my s21 ultra at home and bringing g51 with me all the time. Well done Motorola.!

Did anyone have a screen comparison between g51 and g82? Wondering if oled screen can bring any better screen display?
